The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 6

I can't figure out Lex Luthor.

He expected Superman to kill Batman (he says something like "one Bathead short"). So he is smart enough to control Bruce Wayne's emotions and prejudices to the point of confronting Superman with the intention to ******* kill, but thought the Bat wouldn't/couldn't kill him?

That must mean he also knew that Batman would suddenly become friends with Superman after realizing both of their mothers are Martha? So he figured that Superman would call his mother by name right before he was impaled. He also calculated that Lois Lane would be there to clarify things to Batman.

This is beyond genius level intellect. This is a Godly sort of omnipresence.

So he calculated that Superman/Batman would kiss and make up and come for his skinny ass. Hence why he created Doomsday, right?

Did he also plan for his death? Because Doomsday almost punched his organs out. Don't tell me omni-intelligent Lex Luthor simply didn't plan for Doomsday to take a shot at him.

He must've known that Doomsday would be killed right? So why didn't he plan for his escape?

So his plan was for Superman to save him from Doomsday killing him and then going to prison?

I think I understand now. He has a phobia of getting a haircut from a barber so this was all an elaborate ruse by supersmart Luthor to manipulate DC's greatest heroes to put him in prison and finally shed that fur.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any Christmas themed Deathstroke pictures, so I will just have to settle for Deadpool ones.

Found one - photoshopped, but still. :cwink:

Happy Holidays, guys.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

This has been a hard, dark year in a lot of ways both personal and public. Cast your eyes toward the light during this year's end. Cherish the moments of peace and good will and celebration that you can find. They have been hard fought and well earned.

I think out of all the kills, the batmobile one is the one I hate the most. It disgusts me. Purely there just because it looks cool, not for whatever bad story telling point Snyder was trying to make, which is useless since we know and have seen nothing of this Batman.

Sometimes I'm surprised that this Batman gets so many "Best Batman ever" quotes. Then I remember he has a great fight scene and a comic accurate suit, because the actual characterization is terrible. Sorry, rant over.

There are also the scenes where he straight up machine guns people to death. Both in the chase scene and in the bat jet before the warehouse scene.

you're welcome. :o

I will always be grateful to Snyder for giving us a Punisher ripped straight from the comic pages. He may not have been the best Punisher in 2016, but still, thanks Snyder.

I get a bit tired of the 'best batman' ever comments as well. I'm a fan of all of the incarnations of batman in the comics and on film and most have their merits. But it seems like 1 good action scene and suddenly he's the best batman ever. From the waist up, I think the suit is really, really good. But I find it looks a bit awkward looking to me, especially when they first show the 'trinity' line up. I still think the Begins suit is the best I've seen on screen. What are people's thoughts on the Bat vs the plane he flies in BvS. Personally I liked the design of the BvS batplane and so I did feel they got that right. Also, what do people here think of the batcave in tdkr vs the batcave in BvS. Again I liked the batcave in Bvs over the tdkr, but i'm not sure they are quiet there yet with my expectations. Thoughts?

There is a poll on Buzzfeed where Bales Batman thrashes Batfleck. It isn't even close.

Same on this one, and this poll came out in the wake of BvS when the new shine of Batfleck was still around;

Votes in the thousands and Bale left Batfleck in the dust. Wasn't even close. Polls like these are very telling that a loud vocal minority in the fanboy community doesn't speak for a consensus.

From a design perspective you can't argue that the batjet looks good. But the Bat was mostly practical and boy oh boy was it detectable. There was an enormous sense of weight and presence to it when it moved. Something I think is missing in most flying vehicles in movies today.

Oh yeah. You really felt the heft of that thing, and that really added to the intensity of the final chase scene. It was menacing.

The BvS plane design is sleek and nice to look at, but not quite as memorable in my opinion + the CG gloss takes away from its on screen presence. I don't know why, but I feel like Snyder's use of CG tends to be more obvious than it is with some other directors. I don't know if it's just the way he shoots things and color grades his films that gives everything more of a surrealistic, painting-esque quality. Like I thought the CG X-wings, TIE fighters and Star Destroyers in Rogue One looked phenomenal, you could pretty much put those right along with the OT models and I feel like it'd match up pretty well.

Hopefully Ben uses more practical effects.

I often wonder how a Ben Affleck Batman will look. Because his visual style isn't all that different from Christopher Nolan's. It's pretty grounded and functional. I wonder if he will use Snyder's costume designer.

I liked the batcave and the batplane. It fits this universe well and i also like the new batmobile's design, minus the machine guns. But the batmobile looked terrible in the film (better in Suicide Squad), and that chase scene was awful. The Batplane was OK, nothing special in the movie. I agree that it's not memorable. The cave however looks great in the film and my favorite scenes in the movie took place in that space. For a Bruce Wayne who has been Batman for 20 years and counting, yeah, it's great. But i would add another layer to it, a darker area with less high-tech and more earthy elements for the next movie. Hard to compare TDKR batcave with the BvS cave. I imagine Bruce's cave would have been somewhere between Ben's and the one in Rises if he had continued being Batman full time after The Dark Knight. But i like the stripped down look with a few nice and convenient additions. The more stripped down you get, the creepier it is once you enter.
