The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 7

I haven't seen MOTP in a long time, but it is a great film. I never like to rank live action against animated films, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, Mask of the Phantasm is fantastic. Conroy and Hamill at their best.

Admittedly I used to watch it all the time as a kid on VHS, so I have some nostalgia bias.

But I rewatch it every couple years or so and still holds up well.

Logan is a really simple movie that tugs at your heartstrings. Which is why it got great reviews. It's not deep and enchanting. With themes so staggeringly complex that it flew over most crtitics' head. Like BvS.

According to a Snyder chaser I conversed with.

Also, only if the critics saw the Ultimate cut instead of the theatrical cut, which was a perversion imported from a different universe, BvS would be a high rated masterpiece with the validation of Oscar gold.

What's funny is when those fans say "yeah but the ultimate cut!" ...they admit the theatrical version is no good. And this isn't like when people say the directors cut for Aliens was better, because the original cut was just as great.

Ja.

The same people who strapped the theatrical cut to their chest and chanted its greatness were the ones quickest to drop it like it's hot when the Ultimate cut came out.

Personally, I have a theory that if the UC version of BvS had been released originally in theaters, it would have received even worse reviews. It's the same bad movie, just longer.

It's better edited, but has more nonsensical scenes with no weight to them at all.

Right on the money Aziz.

K so, i gotta be that guy. I still liked it...but get ready..

I thought LEGO BATMAN was just OK, and overhyped. Finally saw it tonight.

I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. It started getting repetitive and not every joke was great. It's fun no doubt, but the way critics and Batman fans on the hype were talking, i was expecting it to be laugh out loud funny from start to finish. There's a few moments that had heart, which was a nice touch. But the whole unleashing the monsters (that have nothing to do with Gotham) was just random and made me feel bored once that plan started up. Ehh. I laughed for sure. It's a fun time at the movies, once, but i wouldn't see it again to be honest. It's basically how i felt after The Lego Movie. Except, i would watch Lego Batman again if i was in a situation where a friend hadn't seen it and asked me (obviously cuz it's BATMAN). Nothing i'd go out of my way for though. FUNNY but OVERHYPED.

.

I really enjoyed it as well but with a lot of people saying it's the best Batman movie since the Dark Knight I can't help but agree with your sentiment.

I also thought Lego Batman started off strong but started to get exhausting towards the end.

It was solid overall, and the best DC film since TDKR, hell maybe even as far back as TDK.

Logan was amazing. This is the type of comic book movie that I crave to see. Uncompromising, gritty, visceral. The R rating definitely brought out the ultra violence within the movie. A lot of it even had me wincing, actually.

Jackman and Stewart brought their A game, and the girl who played Laura was another standout.

I'm finally going to see it on Sunday (the wait has killed me!) and I've surprising been able to avoid what happens.

:mrk:

I agree about Lego Batman actually. I enjoyed it as a Bat-fan for all the Easter eggs, and there were definitely a few laugh out loud moments- but as I feared, the Lego Batman character became a bit one-note and fatiguing for an entire movie, and the story was just okay. Ultimately it still won me over because I think it was a nice tribute to the character and it had some heart, but if I'm being objective it's probably a solid B.

Solid movie but not as clever or funny as the Lego Movie. Definitely a more enjoyable experience than anything the DCEU has offered so far, but I think the "Best Batman Film EVAH" praise was a bit much.

The LEGO Batman character got just enough screen time in The LEGO Movie for it to stay fresh. The LEGO Batman Movie was a spin-off I looked forward to but ultimately wasn't worth it. The jokes weren't that good, the Batman character started to annoy me and the Easter eggs were so easy I could have written them.

Exactly!

I gave it a 3/5. Which seems like a solid rating, but not great. I don't think I'll watch it again to be honest. That Batman shtick is funny for a while but then the voice becomes one note. They wasted Catwoman. Harley was boring. Joker wasn't funny. Ehh.

after everything we've gotten so far, Lego Batman was supposed to be eye bleach and did its job for me. Loved it.

Some people at work didn't like Logan. They said it was depressing and didn't enough action scenes.

I know it's anecdotal, but it seems my prediction may be true. It's not a film for everyone.

Too depressing? Not enough action? There's tons of laugh out loud moments and brutal action..

Do they only watch action movies with wall to wall action and quips every minute ?

Just seems like a criticism you would hear from somebody who mainly watches one genre. I would find it more fair if they said they didn't like this and that about the details of the film rather something generic like "not enough action !" It's like well, where would you insert action then? Just throw in more action for the sake of it, or because you have an intelligent idea of where to place it that would enhance the story.

No film is for everyone, especially not a more adult approach like Logan.
