The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 8

Keaton wanted the next movie to be like Nolan's. He wanted a proper exploration into Batman's origin. I bet he was getting fed up being upstaged and sidelined by the villains, and wanted a more Batman centric movie.

Btw has anyone seen this: http://heroichollywood.com/justice-league-diane-lane-avengers/

Diane Lane just bluntly says JL will not be better than The Avengers lol.

Is that why he quit and why Schumacher took over? Because the studio refused such an idea?

Probably one of the reasons. The other being they were going campy with the franchise.

I just can't get into Skyfall at all.
I like it a lot, but the usage of the Bond girl (or lack thereof) really threw me out of it. It's a weird dismissal of a character.

I love Skyfall. The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Django Unchained.....2012 was a great year for movies.

Indeed it was. Django was probably my favorite.

Django says waddup.

The Master says waddup.

Skyfall was about even with Rises, for me.
I forgot about Django Unchained.

It was easily my favorite year of the century when it comes to movie releases.

I just can't get into Skyfall at all.
It gets weird at some points, like another sex interest for Bond we see discarded without any introduction.

It was average compared to 2013 and 2014 IMO. I had no problem making a top 10 list for that year. Easy peasy. I remember having a hard time fitting just 25 films into my 2013 and 2014 lists.

Just for fun, here are the films I enjoyed from 2012:
Skyfall (Mendes), Django (Tarantino), The Master (PTA), Looper (Rian Johnson), TDKR (Nolan), A Separation (Farhadi), The Grey (Carnahan), 21 Jump Street (Lord/Miller), Seven Psychopaths (McDonagh), Silver Linings Playbook (O' Russell), Moonrise Kingdom (Wes Anderson) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Chbosky).

That's twelve. Eeeek, slow year for me. Only a few have that rewatchability factor too.

I'm not as big a movie buff as many are, here is a list of movies I sat through and really enjoyed, in order of which movie title comes to mind first:
  1. The Grey
  2. The Hunger Games
  3. The Dark Knight Rises
  4. Dredd
  5. Skyfall
  6. The Amazing Spider-Man
  7. Rurouni Kenshin
  8. Men in Black 3
  9. Wreck-It Ralph
  10. Django Unchained
  11. The Avengers
  12. Chronicle
  13. The Raid: Redemption
  14. Safe
  15. Argo
  16. Life of Pi

Looks like Wonder Woman will be received warmly. Good. The first major, female driven superhero movie should not be a disaster.

Tom Hardy just signed on to do Sony's Venom spin off movie. I am going to assume the pay check was just too big to refuse.

Way more excited for Venom now. Can we skip Homecoming and just get to the sequel with Hardy/Venom please?

For the life of me... I just don't get the appeal of that character.

Good luck to him though. With Arad and Tolmach steering this thing, he'll need it.

That's the one saving grace. It isn't part of the MCU. It's a Sony thing. So if it turns out crap, as it likely will, at least Spidey's rep will be intact.

Well Homecoming looks like ass, and Venom could be terrible too, but at least this already feels fresher. I'm totally sick of Spider-Man movies, and homecoming (at least from the looks of the trailers) tells me that they don't care about new/creative ideas for that franchise. This VENOM movie is unpredictable. We don't know WHAT this is going to be. Homecoming on the other hand...

i'm probably skipping Homecoming in theaters, but i'll go see Venom for Tom Hardy and my inner child will be super excited to see Eddie Brock.

Venom is bottom tier in Spidey's rogues gallery. The character is paper thin, has not achieved anything noteworthy as a villain against Spidey, and as Sam Raimi so rightfully said he only rose to popularity based on his appearance and powers. The gimmick of being an evil looking version of Spider-Man.

Highly doubt the Venom movie's happening without some Marvel oversight. Canon or not, the public will associate it with the MCU. Marvel isn't gonna let their brand get tarnished like that.

I'm glad Wonder Woman seems to be getting a good reaction so far. I can take it a bit more seriously because the reaction seems positive, but not hyperbolic. I probably wasn't going to rush to see it if it didn't have good reviews or WOM, so it's nice to know it's worth seeing. I haven't been too excited by this summer's slate overall, but I'm definitely interested now. The trailers haven't blown me away, but I always felt it had potential.

My buddy just told me this and instantly I became pumped for this stand alone Venom movie. I loved Hardy as Bane, but I think he could potentially be even better as Eddie Brock/Venom.

But....this is Sony, so.....

Personally I haven't found Venom interesting since he lost his slasher roots in the 90s. I'd love to see an Alien-esque take on Venom, but you don't cast Tom Hardy for the kind of take.

Interestingly enough, Bane and Venom had similar cultural trends in the comics. Both dark versions of the hero, both were introduced with a bang around the same period, but then declined in later stories. Also both Peter and Bruce had to battle their addictions to the symbiote / Venom drug before the introduction of their respective villains.

Is Carnage in this movie? Will Marvel stay out of the way of Venom and Carnage? If so, count me out on the solo Spidey train. Kraven is the only other villain that would get me interested.

And with all of that, he's still better than the last four villains Sony/Marvel have used in the movies.

Venom and Carnage are my fav Spidey villains. That's what i grew up on in the 90's.

Top tier for me.

Hah! Too bad it's not connected (until it possibly makes money and then Marvel wants Hardy back). He is going to be fantastic, even the script is terrible.
