Yeah, your point was that Zero Dark Thirty put America (the CIA specifically) in a better light than Argo, and how that may or may not have impacted the Academy's decision. My point was that that is pretty much irrelevant, because the films are not on equal terms quality wise.

2. I thought it was one of the best Bond songs ever. And I'm not at all a big fan of Skyfall otherwise.

That's interesting. So far, I have encountered few that share my opinion, so maybe I am just deaf or something. I just think the song is a bit one note and boring. I've only seen a few other Bond movies, so I don't have too much to compare it to in that respect. But among the other nominees, I just didn't think it deserved it.

I agree with most of the wins last night, good for Ang Lee he deserved that best director. The one I can't get behind and was a huge misfire was Christoph Waltz winning. I like the guy so it won't bug me too much but this belongs up there with Melissa Tomei's win. He was funny in the movie and had a little acting going on towards the end but i didn't find one thing about his performance impressive. Especially up against a great performance from Tommy Lee Jones and a mesmorizing performance from Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Just ridiculous

Agreed. I loved him in the film, but he was pretty much playing a more noble Hans Landa. Certainly not a bad thing, but not award worthy imo. I was rooting for Tommy Lee Jones, his performance was the best I've seen him give in years. Even better than No Country For Old Men.

That closing number with McFarlane and Kristen Chenowith was awful, btw. Neil Patrick Harris does closing numbers when he hosts the Tony Awards, and they're soooo much better.

Entertainment is getting much more political, though.
Especially some BP nominees.

What I think helped out Lincoln big time was the ridiculous attention to detail, for example the gas pipes moving because gas is going through them. Also because it was all very real where as Les Mis was a lot of green screen, very poor green screen at times

I was rooting for Jones but I don't mind Waltz winning at all. It is true that his performance shared some similarities to his performance as Landa, which also won him the award, but really, while Jones was fantastic in Lincoln, what really set his performance part from all his other roles or just his public persona in general?

Both actors were essentially playing to their strengths.

I was just saying that I personally felt ZDT was more patriotic. I don't think it had any impact whatsoever on the voting process.
