From what I have heard, the Argo team Shmooosed the hell of the Academy. I loved the movie, I thought Lincoln deserved it more...but I was fine with Argo winning. Spielberg I guess needs to learn to smoosh more....

I haven't seen either film because they just don't interest me. When I get around to it I'll give my opinion.

I think Argo won on momentum from the best director snub. My thoughts are if Affleck was nominated he would have won for best Director and Lincoln would have won picture. As for Zero Dark Thirty, I'm going to disagree with people who think it would have done great without the controversy. At first I thought that too but now I don't think it ever would have won best picture or best director even if it was nominated. The Academy. obviously. loved the film but I think it was to cold to go that far. Maybe if they had taken on the controversy. better it would have had a chance at screenplay.

I still wanted Les Mis to win, but next month I'm getting a blu-ray (not to mention a digital copy I'll be able to randomly burst into tears while watching it my phone), an expanded soundtrack, not to mention a Broadway revival next year. So I'm happy.

I would have loved to see Hugh win too, but that was never going to happen against DDL, so I just enjoyed seeing him finally get nominated.

Oh stop. I'm no fan of the Bush presidency, but the media basically portrayed his daughters as if they were the Kardashians. I'm no fan of Sarah Palin, but it was disgusting how her children were treated by the media. So it's certainly not limited to the Obamas.

What the media did to Palin was particularly upsetting to me. Not because I like Palin all that much, but the way they treated her... It legitimately felt highly sexist and prejudice most of the film. Which is despicable.

People accused her of not living up to her claims of family values, because a mother running for Vice President isn't putting her family first, and I just thought.....what about Bush, Obama, Clinton....every President in recent memory?

It's just "different" to them because she's a woman, and is supposed to stay home and make babies.

I feel no sympathy for Palin, I think she is a deeply hateful woman. But I agree that there was sexism at play at times and I never agree with sexism. I hate her because I think she is a ville person and that is the only reason.

Of course. And when she's her own public figure, she's open to the criticism. Bristol's 'solo career' has never impressed me, she's always come off as a little brat. But when she was just the daughter of a public figure, she should have been off-limits.

I personally never took offense at seeing Laura Bush. Though I do agree that Laura would never have been invited to announce Best Picture at the Oscars. Still, the level of vitriol aimed at Michelle Obama is absurd and I do think more crazy than any other FLOUS hate besides Clinton who, at least, was actually a political player for the first 2-3 years of Bill's presidency.
