BvS All Things Superman and Batman: An Open Discussion - Part 1

I wonder how much outcry there would have been if Snyder and Co. had been emphatic that this was not in even the slightest way going to be a film where our two heroes clash when the announcement was made? I have a feeling we'd have some of loud noises along the lines of "I can't believe they'd cheat us like this", or "the clash CBM's fans have been waiting for and they're denying us!" I think they would be coming from the same naysayers who espouse an opposite view now.

Similar to the idea of superheroes teaming up to fight a common enemy (kinda like Avengers)?

Now then, what happens if the same situation arises again? No prison can hold people on that power level, the Phantom Zone is gone, so given the precedent, Superman must kill again. Because it is the same situation.

I would hope that the very moment the same situation arises again, Superman will start thinking right away about how he can stop the threat as quickly as possible without killing this time, and succeed. Perhaps right after he killed Zod he was already forming a plan in his mind on how he would handle it differently next time. He wasn't prepared this time, but he could at least attempt to be prepared next time even though the threat may not be exactly the same. Maybe consulting with scientists or exploring the kryptonian tech left behind or seeking out other heroes who can come help him the moment such a threat arises... hello Justice League. To me, this would show growth and intelligence from Superman.

THIS!

When Superman fights Metallo or whatever, it should show him fleeing Metropolis while grabbing on to the character, and throwing him down over the ocean or something.

The difference between fighting someone like Zod and Metallo for Superman would be that Metallo is nowhere as strong as Zod is and can't fly or superspeed back within a instant to cause more trouble.

Well... Zod wasn't full powered when he first arrived. He couldn't control his powers or fly. Superman now has knowledge of this. For the next kryptonian threat at least, he'll know to attack as soon as possible before they fully power, or try to take their fight to somewhere the sun isn't shining to minimize them absorbing the empowering rays whereas Superman himself has reserves of power. Or do what he did to Zod-destroying their mask so they lose control- but not in a populated place this time. And hopefully he'll have a plan in place this time to neutralize the threat without killing.

Of course it would be different if it was not a kryptonian threat but just as high powered, but hopefully what he learned from fighting Zod will still be useful in such a case as well.

When might the first piece of plot be revealed?

Maybe a teaser attached to some film this Holiday season?

Perhaps but then that would mean we'd get a plotline and an official pic or two soon before that since they usually reveal that stuff before a teaser trailer

They're rumoured to start filming sometime in February 2014, so that won't happen.

Around that time, though, we'll probably get a pic of Batman.

I hope they at least reveal soon on how small or big of a roll Bruce&Batman will have

STAR Labs? Reopen the Phantom Zone somehow?

So what would be the method of stopping Zod non-lethally? Because that is usually the question that people ask as to why it was necessary to kill Zod.

He wasn't prepared this time, but he could at least attempt to be prepared next time even though the threat may not be exactly the same.

It could be very similar, Superman's rogues are not massively varied in their methods. Let's say Cyborg Superman (as an example) is the villain, his family is dead, his body is destroyed and now he wants Superman to feel his pain. He's as powerful as Superman, with no weaknesses and the PZ is gone.

But without a way of permanently subduing the villain they'd just be taking turns giving said villain a beat down forever.

I really wouldn't want Donner back at this point.

I would have loved to see what Donner would have done if he were born into our era. I feel like if he had perfect control over Superman:TM we might be surprised by the results. I think it would actually be a bit more serious.

What do people want to happen at the end of B v S? What kind of resolution/ understanding do you want? Should Batman and Superman just go their own separate ways or should they form some kind of agreement to fight crime together or help each other out when necessary? Should they become good friends or should it be just a live and let live attitude?

considering Donner has made films like The Omen, it definitely would've been a better film if he'd had complete control.

It should end with them standing on a rooftop, shaking hands. Superman flies away, and on his back there is a note. "Kick me". Batman walks off and chuckles. Just before he jumps off the rooftop, we see a note taped to his back; "my parents are deeeeeead". Fade to black.

No the Zod ship has flown. There had been no other way of stopping Zod. I'm saying that Superman should work with scientists, other heroes, explore tech, etc, to plan for the next time a Zod like threat occurs, so that he can avoid killing the next time. Maybe the scientists can find a way of reopening the phantom zone on command, or use kryponian tech to build a strong enough prison, or Superman can find a planet that can serve as a prison planet.

Like for Cyborg Superman. The writers should be able to find a way to stop him without killing him, and almost all villains have some sort of weakness. Especially since Mr. Smartypants superior intellect Batman is in the picture now. But I hope stopping a threat like that will involve both Superman and Batman's intellects and not be all 'smart Batman' and 'musclehead Superman'.

What do you guys think about The Joker being a villain in future Batman/Superman films if it continues after Man of Steel 2?

It's only a matter of time before the Joker makes his return to the big screen. Whoever gets cast has big shoes to fill. I don't envy the person who takes that role on.
