BvS All Things Superman and Batman: An Open Discussion - - Part 35

It is obligatory. Batman's "cool factor" is better protected than the president. And what really gets my goat is that people say things like "well, batman is cooler!" Is he really? When they have to be so intense about guarding him with plot protection? But I'm not going to claim I don't like batman or don't think he's cool because he was what got me into CBMs. But it seems odd to create a human character and sell him as "flawed" and "relatable" while making him do anything and everything. Why not just make him an alien? The problem is they are too unevenly matched. So perhaps the writers think they have to let batman win because superman winning would be too easy and expected. But the opposite seems more common until recently (some writers are trying to make supes more badass, perhaps they realized the batgod issue was happening).

And to be honest, I'm not sure how they're going to do a fight in the movie and avoid bias because batgod seems inevitable at this point. Or they'll go over board and make supes a *****ey bully.

Seeing how Snyder and Goyer recognize that Batman cannot realistically beat Superman, I look forward to Superman not being one-upped.

Okay, well given the fact that Superman will inevitably be involved in another fight with a super villain, I'm curious....how would people here prefer the fight to be like?

One of the things that I've noticed is that many people seemingly hate the idea of mass destruction or destruction of any kind taking place when superman is fighting someone within a city

Would some prefer that Superman just fly his enemy out into a desert or an isolated area?

And allow him to destroy a delicate ecosystem? I think not.

Oh rest assured, they'll find a way. I think they're both bigger fans of Batman anyway.

I sense that Goyer is a bigger fan of Batman, but I don't think Snyder is. I think he's well aware of Batman, but loves Superman much more.

Honestly? If it were up to me? I wouldn't have Supes throw a SINGLE punch in the fight (if they ARE going to throwdown.)

Have Batman literally have at it with Superman dodging and making it a POINT to hold back. When it comes to MOS bashers of complaining about him being too reckless, I would love that.

That would show a matured Superman and how he has changed in fighting style (especially against a mortal man) after his incident with Zod. Seriously, just let Supes stand there and take everything Bats got without throwing a single punch.

In the end, for me atleast, that would be a cool moment that shows Bruce and others he isn't the threat he thinks he may be, even if he takes a hit with pride. Maybe later, have Supes save Bruce in a heroic way to form their bond and friendship.

For Bats, it would be his scene to show his combat skills and his ability as a seasoned fighter to stand up to an alien that could punch a hole through his chest but yet, not give one damn with that possibly being the outcome.

For Supes, they always say the bigger man always walks away and for Supes to swallow his pride and prove a point to hold back and take the shots from Batman, only to grin and fly-off after the fact I think could delight audiences.

I dunno. I'd like to be optimistic, but I have a suspicion Snyder's love of DKR will not work in Supes' favor, even if Snyder isn't adapting DKR. I fully expect the usual Bat-bias. The only question is the degree of bat-bias. If there's much batgodding, it will ruin the movie for me.

I'm telling you guys, Supes shouldn't throw a single punch. Let him be on the defense the entire time while flash-backing to his fight with Zod and taking everything Batman got. If Supes were to show aggression and fight, let him be it against his weakness: Kryptonite and I prefer Metallo, not Batman. Without Kryptonite, Batman is no threat and shouldn't be the one to challenge Supes.

I wouldn't mind that, but I doubt Snyder would do that. I think a fight is gonna happen.
