I know I am gonna be hated for saying this... But I have just never been impressed with most anything Fourth World related outside of Darkseid, Dessad, Mr. Miracle and Barda. Everything else could disappear forever and I would not shed one tear. I know it's inevitable, but I actually am not that keen on seeing Apokalips or any of that stuff in a JLA film. I was already a bit sour on those characters and FINAL CRISIS just sealed the deal for my distaste.

You're not talking sense, man! Snap out of it!

But really, I don't disagree with what you're saying. It would definitely be hit or miss in live action.

+1 on using an Archer gif. I just picked up the season four Blu Ray. Loved ARCHER LIVE feature. Just saying but after I saw it.... HENRY C. FOR LIVE ACTION STERLING ARCHER!! WHOO!! Have Benjamin over dub the voice and be on set for character and other stuff for Henry to collaborate with to get the character down. I know... Pipe dream.

As for the FOURTH WORLD stuff, like I said, I have kind of always never been all that impressed. And let's be honest, neither has the comics reading fan in general. If they were those books would have never been cancelled.

In the end, I imagine any live action version would be heavily streamlined. It would probably just be Darkseid, Desaad, and maybe Granny. With the parademons as troops in an invasion story. The problem that they're always going to have is that it will seem too much like The Avengers now, whether that's fair or not. The alternative would be something more intimate, where it's just Darkseid and nothing else. Just him against the heroes, for whatever reason they can come up with.

You hit it on the head I think. No matter what people say... by the time a JL film with a theoretical Darkseid comes out it will have to compete with the publics opinion of Thanos and not seem to come out like a copy, even if we as comic book fans already know which is the real copy. I mean, Starlin openly admits as much. His editor saw the original designs for Thanos, and it was like evil Metron. If you look at the way Starlin created his Titan-Eternals, it's aping Kirby pretty hard. So he tells Starlin if you're gonna steal from New Gods, steal the one unimpeachably good thing from it: Darkseid. The rest is history.

I mean, part of me WANTS to see a Superman vs. Darkseid throwdown on the big screen. But if includes having to see stuff like Kanto or Mantis... I just don't know.

a JL movie is doomed if it doesn't include the original black racer.

Honestly, if they're thinking long-term, then having Darkseid as the main villain for the first JL outing is a wrong move.

I just can't think of a villain that can outrank him as the MAIN villain of the entire DCU to end the franchise on, regarding JL films.

Plus, I really do hope that they have a "endpoint" in mind for the DCU at some point, and just reboot the thing later on.

After making a few films about various DC characters, notably the ones that have not gotten their chance to shine on the big screen, they should just end it like how Nolan did so that it won't all feel like it's episodic and repetitive, thus losing quality over time.

If they were thinking long term (eg solo and team films) I don't think they'd have hired a busy 41 year old actor/director to be one of their main, action oriented, characters.

It's a fair point. Should we reasonably expect more than 2 films out of Affleck? I mean, we'll get BvS, and then Justice League probably to follow, but is a solo Batman film really in the cards? It does kind of feel like they're still only taking things one film at a time, even at this stage.

Let's not forget though that Robert Downey Jr. was 42 in Iron Man and he is still signed on for Avengers 3 which likely won't come out until 2018 which would make him 52. Given the nature of the Batman costume anyway most action scenes can be done with a mix of CGI and stunt men. However I do agree WB don't seem to have much of a plan in place for their future films.

you never know...they might have a plan. I mean, not every studio doing superhero movies have to make phases and tell everyone about them.

I think for a Darkseid storyline to work, you need Darkseid, Granny, Desaad, and Orion.

Orion could be the only person from New Genesis to help Earth. Maybe the citizens of New Genesis are too afraid to break their peace treaty with Apokolips, so they stand by while Earth is getting destroyed. Orion, being Darkseid's mortal enemy and biological son, is the only person willing to help fight. Because of their personal relationship, maybe Orion fighting Darkseid on Earth wouldn't be seen as a violation of the peace treaty.

Momoa admitted to auditioning and even reading alongside Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt. "I think it's perfectly cast," said Jason Momoa while promoting his new drama The Red Road. "Dave is perfect for that role, for Drax. It didn't really fit in my time because I've done so many things where I don't say much and I'm colored up and I have my shirt off again. I made a conscious choice to turn down some movies that were action-based to direct Road to Paloma so people could see that side."

"I want my children to see their father happy," he said of not signing on to play Drax. "It's not that it's not a good role, it just wasn't the right thing. I was on Stargate: Atlantis for four years playing a similar character called Ronon, who was an alien who didn't say much and grunted. I've been there and done that, whether people have seen it or not. You want to stretch."
Momoa's reasons for not taking Drax make me think he isn't up for Doomsday. If he's trying to get away from roles where he's a colored up alien who mostly grunts, then Doomsday is just not for him. I think we can safely rule Momoa out from being Doomsday.

Despite turning down the opportunity to join Marvel's epic space opera, Jason Momoa says there are still some comic book movie roles he'd like to tackle. "There's definitely some, absolutely," he says. "I was a huge comic book fan, and I still am. I'm not going to tell you the ones I collect, because then you'd know," he added with a laugh, referring to a certain role in an upcoming comic book movie that he's currently aiming for. Mostly likely, this film is Warner Bros.' untitled Batman Vs. Superman movie, for which Jason Momoa has been rumored for various roles from Doomsday and Martian Manhunter to Aquaman. What do you think?
Based on this^ it seems like he's at least had discussions about BvS or is in talks for a role. Also based on his comments which seemingly rule out Doomsday, I think the most likely role for Momoa would be Aquaman. The Aquaman rumor seems to have been the most persistent and credible. I'm guessing the dude has been in talks for Aquaman.

It may not be Aquaman, but this dude is definitely involved with Batman vs Superman.

interesting I wonder if he is cast when will they announce his casting

The fact that he is more open about it than the last time he discussed BvS suggests that his negotiations may be further along than they were the last time he discussed BvS.

So, soon....

I really want to see Momoa as Aquaman. He's a charming guy and he knows the water well being a Hawaiian. He's someone who can make Aquaman awesome.

When did Aquaman suddenly become a brunette with brown eyes?

Thor would've been a great Aquaman :o

Recent comic book movie history proves nothing stops actors from pursuing multiple superhero roles.

Daredevil is Batman.
Human Torch is Captain America.
Deadpool is Green Lantern
Catwoman is Storm.

Anyone is fair game lol.

When Amy Adams played a red-head Lois, Fishburne is a Black Perry White, and Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman. :cwink: Oh no! Human Torch might be Black like Electro and Heimdall.

I'm digging the Michael B Jordan for Cyborg rumor, great choice imo. I don't see it as likely since he was cast as the Human Torch in new reboot of F4 (which didn't even make sense).

Yeah, but Fox contracts =/= Marvel contracts

Ah, I see where you stand on the subject. Carry on.
