Almost 12 months later and we're still talking about Rotten Tomato's scoring...?

By now, I would've expected that everyone has come to terms with the score. MOS is still one of my favourites despite being scored lowly/being critically mixed etc.

I'm ready to go two summers away or not, luckily my wife allowed me to grace our vehicle with such epicness. I keep thinking about the first footage well see and how exciting it'll be for the fan population.

Dude that is awesome

Forget RT scores and critical mumbo jumbo and Marvel vs DC....this is the one thing that matters when it comes to Man of Steel....did people enjoy it? Did it make new Superman fans?

It's not enough for people to like something for themselves. They need everyone else to like it and like it more than anything they see as opposition (this applies everywhere).

Mos has had a weird effect on me I'm a live and let live guy when it comes to movies. But I get so heated when I hear anyone talk crap about man of steel.
The biggest reason is because of the effect it had on my girlfriend of 6 years. She's a prude when it comes to comic books (I know but I love her anyway) and after we came out of the theater she was BLOWN away and wanted more back story on my main man supes. So she actually read a comic! Swear to
God probably the first comic she ever picked up (birthright).
And that's what it's all about, shaking the public and sharing this great character universe with those who are unfamiliar with it. Giving them the joy we nerds get. Brings a tear to my eye

Which is completely ridiculous. A lot of people (on this forum and outside) have become reduced to sheep, wanting to follow the grain, so to speak, rather than think for themselves.

So what? Just because RT has a movie that's rated higher, doesn't mean that you HAVE to consider it superior to others. We have opinions and thoughts for a reason. The problem with people here is that they seek ratings to be as objective as possible, without realizing that at the very core, it's subjective.

I guess by your logic, it means if you had a movie that I thought was utter garbage and you still liked it, that the your opinion is somehow discredited? You see how it makes no sense?

RT is a completely separate measure like the box office gross, measuring critical views. It doesn't affect individual opinions of films at all or the validity of those. The average score just gives a reasonably fair summation of the critical viewpoint. That's all it's relevant for, but also that makes it not entirely irrelevant to discussions of wider perception of the film for different discussions.

The most important thing MoS got right for me was Cavill as Superman and I hope he hangs around for a very long time for WB & DC to build a universe around.

Agreed. I think he was the best part of MoS. Now that the origin is out of the way, I'm interested to see what he does with the role.

That was soo cute lol

rottentomatoes is nothing but a tool for pissing contests with fans, if it truly reflects the quality of a movie them you might as well know who will win the Academy.

I concur. We finally got a Superman that feels like a modern Superman should. If nothing else, that made MOS a success for me.

Personally I connected with Henry's Superman more than I ever did with any other actors portrayal of the character. Clark's arc in the Man Of Steel resonated with me and made me care about the character in a way I didn't really feel with the Reeves films, Superboy, Lois & Clark, Smallville or Superman Returns.

Nope, it's a legitimate website that fulfils it's intended purpose very well but is turned into a pissing contest by some dumb fanboys. The box office gross, the RT critical consensus, the Academy and other award winners and nominees...these are merely individual indicators of the views of critics and the audience at large and that is all. They are fine by themselves in doing what they set out to do, not their fault that others take any one if them as a definitive measure of a film's quality.

Me too, actually. Superman can come off very untouchable at times, like a card-board cut-out. This one felt real and lived-in. I think a lot of that also came from Henry's mannerisms for the character. It made me think "this is a guy, not a legend just yet."

Parasite,Mxyzptlk,Brainiac all have a way to exploit his vulnerabilities without Kryptonite. And really anyone who wants to use his humanity against him can make him vulnerable.

I want to see Lex use Superman's morality and ethics against him.

I like how in The Dark Knight they had the Joker test everyone's morals and ethics.

Anyone who watches Game Of Thrones saw how a honourable character like Ned Stark had his honour used against him.

I'd even rather have a poor MoS (not that I thought Mos Was bad) and a great Superman. That's the main foundation for the future. And Cavill is just great for me in the role.

He's much more of a Superman than any of the TV versions of course. Reeve will always be an icon and was the right Superman for that age, and Cavill is very much the right Superman for this age.

Yep, they need to make Lex look like he'd fit in with Baelish, Varys & Tywin Lannister in deviousness levels and manipulative abilities.:woot:

Clark had doubts and fears. Clark showed actual human emotions and emotional frailty. We got to see him struggle made the character endearing for me.
We also saw Clark make hard decisions like destroying the codex essentially ending his species and being forced to kill Zod.

Indeed. It boggles my mind when people say Clark had no arc in this movie. I really hope we continue to see him grow and make these hard decisions. I'm hoping Lex is the main vehicle for this in BvsS.

I liked the Reeves (first 3) movies very much and grew up watching them on tv. Reeves movies are classic and he was iconic in the role but I wouldn't say I feel as much attachment to those films as other do. I'm not bashing the Reeves or those films its just how I personally feel :cwink:

I know right!

I thought it was pretty clear that Clark learned that he had to be careful about revealing his powers through the flashbacks and in the present day story he had to learn to trust humanity in order to be comfortable with who he is.

I just watched Ted for the first time. That ending... ouch.

Dwayne Johnson's tweets were very much a part of the marketing scheme of the movie. He tweeted pics and what not but we still didn't get our first glimpse at him until the Paramount put it out.

"Paramount, MGM and I made a pact," he added. "We wanted to make a massive global and entertaining movie while doing all we could to never reveal the actual look of Hercules."

Yes, however I'm not talking about going beyond that. Letting the studio marketing do it's thing is probably prudent but doing what he and these other social media directors do wouldn't hurt. Especially when you have property this ready and eager for buzz. What a waste if no one catches on imo.
