Is that Lois with a jetpack?

Is that Lois with a jetpack?

This 100% agreed it really doesn't matter at all. People care too much about the title or the poster for a film. Or even a DVD cover. Who ****ing cares. Enjoy the damn movie haha.
When picking a title for a movie you want a title that invokes the story plot. A movie title like "Back to the future" almost gives the plot. Now comparing a title like Avengers or Iron Man or Fantastic Four...it's a name that people may not be familiar with but they are names they are called in the movies.
So comparing the titles World's Finest is weak. No one calls them the World's Finest. They don't refer to themselves as the World's Finest. It's will be confusing to people who don't buy comics.
Compared to Batman vs Superman...it's a dynamic title. You have the big guys in the title...the versus invokes the plot....it can sell the movie on it's own without a poster or trailer.
The thing with the World's Finest title is that it's fan service. Man of Steel and The Dark Knight have a history and have rooted meaning for the characters that has been acknowledged in the comics and other medium for decades. The only reason so many are advocating WF is because it's what the two have been known as within the fan community only. Again taking aside the blandness of the title there really is no justification for use of the name as the title for the film, especially if the concept of the film is Batman vs Superman. Yes you can retroactively place meaning behind it but the only reason people are doing that is because they want the title used, not because it actually makes sense to use it.
We got the Batman films at the same time, I have no idea what the reason for MoS release delay was. Worse one was GL, it was a full 2 months after the US by which time everyone already knew it was terrible.
...says the guy who suggested Public Enemies as a title. If you like that for the title, then everything you just said (your entire argument) is moot.
You like Public Enemies because it gives the title a bit more class...and that's one of several reasons why I like World's Finest as a title. Also, saying that World's Finest doesn't make any sense seems a bit ignorant, because it does technically make sense. Some people (like yourself) are retroactively trying to remove meaning from it.
You might as well just come out and say that you don't like the way World's Finest sounds and you personally like Batman vs. Superman better, despite its cheesiness.
Mate, you know full well 'World's Finest' comes from the comic book title and that it has been adapted by the fans to represent Superman and Batman team ups, that's the only reason it's continually suggested. Again, not saying you can't retroactively apply meaning to it, but that doesn't mean you should use it. The reason I like the Public Enemies title is in the context of it being a Superman vs Batman movie, assuming that is what the movie is about. If it wasn't a rumoured 'verses' movie I wouldn't be in support of it as a title because it makes no sense to use it. The title should fit the movie, not the other way around. Another elephant in the room is Wonder Woman who has never been associated with the 'World's Finest' title. With her presence I could make the argument that the film should be titled 'Trinity', in fact if anything there's more justification in calling in 'Trinity'.
Aren't the moniker's "The Man of Steel" and "The Dark Knight" also from comics? I fail to see what your point is other than you dislike the idea of using the decades long standing name for the Supes/Bats team. Which is your right.

I usually agree with you on most things, but not this.
If there's ever been a film that doesn't even need a title, it's this one. The dual symbol (of the Bat/S logos) is literally enough to sell the movie. They are two of the most iconic symbols on Earth, as recognizable as the McDonalds logo or a red 'Stop' sign you see on street corners. Therefore, the argument that people won't understand what the movie is or what it's about without the names "Batman" and "Superman" in the title is particularly weak. Everyone and their mother will know what this film is, whether they like it or not. The marketing will be near-catastrophic in its effectiveness, whether it's named "World's Finest", "Batman vs. Superman", or "Kitty Litter Party Pants".
Marvel's done well with the obvious titles and semi-colons, but I'd like DC to go the classier route with this title, as they have been with the previous Batman films and Man of Steel. Following up "Man of Steel" with "Batman vs. Superman" just doesn't have that great of a film-to-film flow for a series. "Batman vs. Superman" also seems to be a little more dumbed-down than it really needs to be.
Also...who cares if they're not necessarily called "World's Finest" as a duo? Was Superman called the Man of Steel in his film? There won't be anything confusing about this. The phrase perfectly describes what they are together (or against one another) and it's not a difficult concept for anyone to comprehend. "World's Finest" actually has a double meaning. On one hand, it labels Batman and Superman as the finest heroes that exist in our world (or at least in the DC film universe's world). On the other, it mimics the phrases used by law enforcement in different areas all over the USA. "New York's Finest", etc. "World's Finest" just takes that concept to the next level by putting Bats and Supes above the rest. And yes, it is known amongst comics fans as the title in which Batman/Superman have worked together for many years.
The "versus" title is really the easy way out here. I'm not going to be all ******** if it becomes official (because it probably will be), but I'd prefer something like "DC's World's Finest". It has more of a classic, story-driven feel to it like "The Dark Knight" rather than "Batman vs. Superman" which sounds like a one-shot grudge match event...which we know won't really be the case. I also think WF would be a better lead-in title to the eventual "Justice League", but hey, that's just me.

Man Of Steel: The Caped Crusader
The movie has been known as Batman vs Superman for so long that I wonder if it's even a good idea to change it now. If they decide to change, they had better get on with it to avoid confusing more folks.
If the Beatles and Metallica (and Spinal Tap) can get away with putting out albums without their names or even logos.
Then Batman and Superman can get away with it.
Batman vs Superman just goes against the classy serious tone that they established with MoS.
It's like calling the sequel to the Dark Knight something like "Batman & Catwoman vs Bane".
I want a movie title that encapsulates the theme, while referencing the comics. A title that doesn't sound like a headlining match at Wrestlemania.
