Yeah, it's depend on the character. I'd rather have her pull a Falcon in a way.
I had similar thoughts.

I wonder who was working on it. Goyer specifically noted it was in development by a team, so I assume at least a writer/director was hired. Couldn't have been Singer as I think he long moved on.
I'm curious what we would have gotten instead.
Supposedly Darren was Nolan's first choice but that fell through when he couldn't commit to the schedule. Aronofsky just spoke about it a little while ago.I imagine at that point WB had taken meetings with various writers and their pitches, picked one, and probably were prepared to see directors about it. Then, they dropped those plans once Nolan called them up about Goyer's idea because they want to be in the business of Nolan.
I do wonder about the other directors that had been brought up with Snyder after Nolan and Goyer got involved. Like, who turned it down, why, and whatnot.
Yeah, he's definitely in a better place post MoS. From the crappy late sequels to the original films, to the mixed bag of Superman Returns, at least now there is good potential again for the character.

0) Measuring how high it is in terms of media awareness and gross vs that of it's peers and the majority of it's peers sequels would argue for it's potential at the very least. The opening records it took alone, I mean it wasn't 95 million but it was something...Supes isn't 'top of the heap' after MOS, probably never will be with so many other heroes out there in movies now. But the franchise is a legitimate player again...spawning sequels and so on, which is more than what could be said about it 7 or so years back. S at least it's 'made the roster', which should be plenty to be happy about.
Aronofsky is a great director, but I just don't think he'd be a good fit for any comic book movie.
with the whole year one thing, it really seems like he wants to put his own spin on things, something that fans are usually very against.

1) None of these films do their best coming off of a bad overly rejected film. Reboots in particular. With all the (almost deliberately) skewed perspectives on MOS, simply comparing it to other starters would go along way. Batman Begins for example.
3) People put too much faith in the detractors on the internet and negative critics say. The TF franchise is one of the strongest ever and it has twice of this crap than MOS. The DvD's are selling the way they are for a reason.
Stephen Amell said they needed Nolan's permission for some developments on Arrow.
Wouldn't mind him having a crack at Aquaman.
t:Do you seriously buy that for a second? It sounds like Amell is name-dropping for hype more than anything. I highly doubt Nolan was even part of discussions over Arrow, it sounds too random.
If Darren Aronofsky made his Batman Year One it would of broke the internet. Batfleck would of been nothing compared to the type of meltdown we would of seen with a homeless poor Bruce Wayne raised by a black mechanic Alfred called big Al and a mostly original cast not from the comics.
Only if he casts Ray Winstone as Aquaman. "Oi Ocean Master you slag!"t:

Yeah. We should believe in you instead.

Aquaman should be a James Cameron flick.![]()
But he's booked solid till he's ten years dead.

no one...It sounds as if you're trying to defend MOS or something, who says it did badly?
You're right, despite popular belief, just being superman isn't enough and the last film drove that point home. However the point was we won't have a solid measure on the brands modern staying power till the next one imo. I said the same about batman.Just being Superman isn't enough, but as stated earlier, he's at least back in the game. I think SR was a healthy wake-up call. But really, does it really matter how 'high' he ranks as long as he's at least around?
no one...

The difference between being around and being on top is a personal thing I assume. However the Spidey and Ironman fans could probably explain the impact it has on their comings and goings over the years.
I think you either please people by giving them what they have come to expect, or you please the other people by finally changing it. This extreme I think exists with a starter. You are given lot's more opportunity to play and hone your direction in sequel but that thing at the outset, I think mostly lands that way.As I mentioned before, I think it would have helped if he at least had a lone sequel first before teaming up with Batman. I don't think anyone thinks he's not here to stay. But I do think that other characters will always have an edge in 'cool factor', however one wants to define it. In a lot of ways, I think Superman can eventually work off of that....'refereshingly square', in a way.
