BvS All Things Superman and Batman: An Open Discussion - - - - Part 56

It's almost pointless to have the subtitle because most movie theaters will just post it as Batman vs Superman

Yeah, no kidding. Kevin Smith will see it six or seven times just so he can make sure he takes accurate notes on what he wants to complain about the most the next day on the Hype.

I may even write to Goyer.

Convaluted title aside, I'm most excited to see Terrio wrote the script based on Goyer's story. Last time something like that happened, we got Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

Funny, I remember reading somewhere Geoff Johns doesn't care for MM, either. Perhaps Goyer really is the poor man's Geoff Johns of the DCCU. Johns at least had his awesome streak for a while.

I think the title is just the get the point across from now until 2016 that a justice league film IS coming and this is the first step to it. I wouldn't be surprised if they just dropped it a few months out. Everyone is going to say Batman vs Superman anyway. Heck even if they called it Worlds finest everyone will still say Batman vs Superman.

Goyer wrote the script for this AND Batman Begins, Terrio is likely doing what Nolan did to Batman Begins, and just cleaning up dialogue and making slight modifications.

It serves that function well. I've not heard one suggestion I like for a title for this film so may as well get out there that the 2 big guns are facing off and that JL is coming if the title is going to be hard to get right anyway.

I hope that at the end of the MoS sequel that Superman and Batman will become allies and partners that will lead to the formation of the JL in the upcoming JL movie.

I would hate the idea of Batman trying to form the JL without Superman in the upcoming JL movie.

Mike Tirico needs to react to John as well. :woot:

Jon Gruden: Well hey there Mikey, just got back from a two-week bender in New York. I'll tell ya, nothing like seeing Johnny Football and all the other future Hall of Fame quarterbacks taken in the draft to make me want to snort a mountain of coke and live it up while we await the upcoming NFL season. I can't wait to watch a few thousand hours of film on these guys in training camp so that I can start writing up my monday night praise for each and every one of them. How's this sound? This Johnny Manziel, I call him Johnny Rockets because he can throw a football so hard it will go right through you like a Johnny Rockets double cheesburger. But enough about all that. I'm more interested in the big superhero news that just hit the internets today.

Mike Tirico: What news would that be, John?

Gruden: Oh, ya didn't hear, Mike? They announced the title of that there Batman and Superman movie. It's going to be called Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Not sure what the "v" stands for though. Maybe those aliens from that old TV show are also in it.

Tirico: Actually Jon, it sounds like the "v" is just being used to denote the term "versus," like in a court case, e.g. "Roe v. Wade."

Gruden: Ah, okay. Huh. Didn't know Wade Phillips ever had legal troubles. Guess it worked out okay for him though. Anyway, I've gotta say that I'm a little skeptical about this movie, just based on the title. Now this Superman, I call him Richard Sherman because in his last outing, he showed up and kicked a bunch of ass but he didn't seem to get a lot of love from the media for it. So because of that, they decided to bring in Batman to help him out in part two. This Batman, I call him Jadeveon Clowney because even though there's no denying he's a playmaker, there are questions about his attitude and he might not even be a good fit into the scheme where he's being placed.

Now let's look at that title, "Batman versus Superman." Already, we're seeing this rookie kid getting top billing over the seasoned veteran. What kind of message does that send to Superman's teammates, Lois Lane and Perry White? Will this make them question his leadership? Is his role being minimized in the offense? And then when you add in the "Dawn of Justice" subtitle, it kinda makes you think that maybe this movie is just a light-contact preseason game intended to tide fans over until it's Justice League season.

Tirico: I'm afraid you've lost me Jon.

Gruden: No problem, Mike. It happens every week.

Ah ok. Close enough for me! :word: Pretty encouraging I think. Best of both worlds.

In order for this Justice League to work in upcoming films, Superman and Batman need to come out of this smelling like ROSES, especially Superman since this entire cinematic universe is stationed in the MoS-verse. The Justice League needs to look STRONG and the big 2 need to look good. I think this film is going to make Superman look like the Superman all recognize and adore.

I believe we'll see the Worlds Finest embrace towards films end. No doubt about it.

Pretty much.

There aren't enough :lmao:'s in the world.

Don't see why you'd think anything else.

That is to be expected. Since it's inspired by Dark Knight Returns, I see a role reversal where Superman doesn't work for the government while Batman might, we get a battle between them, and that both may be manipulated by someone in the government, maybe Lex Luthor, so that they may come together to take him on. I hope the sequel is a combination of Dark Knight Returns, Public Enemies, and Trinity.

I agree that both Superman and Batman need to look good and strong and that Superman should be the one to inspire Batman and others to come out to the public. I think both Wonder Woman and Cyborg will be inspired since they're in the sequel.

Cyborg in the film must be a favor to Henry Cavill since he wanted him in the sequel.

Bravo! Especially the Richard Sherman bit! :woot:

Seeing as the title suggests this is a Justice League prequel, what Green Lantern do you guys want in this universe? Vote here: http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=479709

I think they'll use Hal Jordan. I'm really just thinking we'll just get the New 52 lineup .

i voted for hal but it wouldn't shock me if they went with kyle since he's half mexican and there have been rumors that that they've wanted more diversity for the justice league.

The notoriously anti authoritarian Batman working as a political puppet? and you thought people would get crazy mad when Superman killed Zod?

I agree that both Superman and Batman need to look good and strong and that Superman should be the one to inspire Batman and others to come out to the public. I think both Wonder Woman and Cyborg will be inspired since they're in the sequel.

Unless they've just cast a 40 year old Ben Affleck to do an origin tale for Bruce Wayne, Batman is experienced and established, he's already out in the public, he's been doing this for longer than Superman (assuming Batman started in his late 20's early 30s) The way i think Superman will "inspire" Bruce is simply by getting him to trust him.

Cyborg in the film must be a favor to Henry Cavill since he wanted him in the sequel.

yeah I really don't think it works that way, or if it did...I doubt Cavill has that power yet.
