BvS All Things Superman and Batman: An Open Discussion - - - - Part 73

The script that I read was full of problems. I agree it did not focus on BvS and it seemed to just introduce characters for the sake of introducing characters.
Aquaman is completely wasted in this script. He plans to blow up an oil rig because of the damage surface dwellers are doing t the ocean...wouldn't blowing up an oil rig cause more damage to the ocean?
Wonder Woman serves no real purpose either. She comes to Metropolis looking for her sister and after finding out Lex had her...does nothing really but show up at a ball.

There were moments in the script where I could tell the person who wrote it had copies of TDKR and Death of Superman right next to them. The fight between Batman and Superman seemed to be ripped right from Miller's work...as was Superman's fight with Doomsday.

In the script the general public is afraid of Superman and blame him for Metropolis. We get another big fight in Metropolis and all of a sudden public opinion is on his side. Even building a statue to commemorate him.

We find out the Green Lanterns needed Superman to fight against Darkseid...but I guess that didn't involve not letting him die.

The script meanders around and doesn't really have a purpose. It's just a collection of scenes and nothing really connects the scenes.

Just read that one, and oh my god is it horrible. The number of scenes lifted straight from TDKR, MoS and Death of Superman are ridiculous. The first flight scene is exactly the same as MoS, and the scene with Aquaman makes no sense in any context.

Lois becomes Louis one too many times, and character motivations don't exist.

Also, like you rightly pointed out, Superman and Batman are introduced with full description of their costumes, and all we get for WW is "She stands in her armor". That is it, no description of what the armor is, or color of the armor, nothing. Just "She stands in her armor".

And the fanservice is just ridiculous. Snyder is a self admitted geek, but I'm sure even he would have gone "Dial it down a notch guys". Every speaking part is basically an easter egg.

I just find it really hard to believe that any studio would pay money to misdirect a minimal amount of fanboys that are going to see the movie anyway.

I'm pretty surprised you bothered to read it.

It's been leaked and Smith and his tale of fake scripts are a cover story ;)

No, Im gonna wait on Smith on that one, and even then it's either fanfiction or the real deal, not some elaborate ruse. I can't ever imagine that Kevin Smith (with all that he's got to do) has the time to write a fake (and from the sounds of it, pretty decent) movie script designed to misdirect a few obsessed fans, and get paid for it. Think about it people.

Oscar worthy.

Professional curiosity. I am a screenwriter and wanted to see if my knowledge on the subject would shed light on if it was real or not. The cover of the one I read gave away it's authenticity. The one I read was fake.

I don't think Smith wrote the one I read...but I don't think it's real either.

The most common one sounds really awful lol

The one I read was pretty decent. Work needed done in places I think. I just wish they put more emphasis on Superman and Batman's conflict.
The ending did seem like strong fan fiction, but I think it would work onscreen.
Flash being there amongst them with no costume was funny though :hehe:

Ah...so we have reached the time of leaked scripts.

Meh, I'll pass. I learned my lesson with SR. I'll wait to be either surprised or disappointed.

What Rodrigo was getting at, it's just more press for the movie. More publicity, more eyes on it, etc.

Plus, I could see Kevin Smith having fun doing that. He loves to write, and if he gets paid, that's just a bonus. I would also think he would love to be apart of the movie, even if it's not directly involved.

But is this Kevin Smith/fake script story actually confirmed?

we've got about an hour left before Kevin Smith sheds some light on these scripts

So I decided to read it end to beginning for some reason and we have this line:

"Stewart and his Squad, along with Gardner and Harper, approach Batman. WEAPONS RAISED."

John is a Marine at this situation but Guy was a football player. Why is he with John?

All I want to know is if there is a Heckler appearance.

It's been long overdue, dammit.

if you've read the one I read...Guy is a cop in it

He better clear all this! Like he does at a buffet! :D
