In the real world, of course not. But the way Snyder just casually brushed off questions about it tells me he doesn't see it as controversial. And as I said before, the final scenes are entirely triumphant. The General's concern is that he "might one day act against American interests" when arguably he already has. He's smiling with his mother at his father's grave, everyone real proud. Jenny says "He saved us!" No one seems to be the least bit concerned about collateral damage. Although it was a problem for the audience, it clearly wasn't in Goyer or Snyder's head, and based on that I hope they don't suddenly decide to make it so because it would be against their creative intuition.
