WB must have no confidence in Emmett if they are just going to plug Batman into his movie. What next? Will they forcibly replace Wyldstyle will Wonder Woman or something? And does it look to anyone else like Emmett is losing his hair?

What are you talking about?

I really hope the major death that occurred on
Arrow
this week is not reverted back. It made the stakes for the series actually go up in a tangible way.
Oh I'm not up to date. A guy who stays dead adds to the feeling that anyone can die (Game of Thrones). A guy who comes back to life adds to the common feeling nowadays that any death is somehow faked and you almost have to wait till the end if the film/season before you believe it and try to react, although it's too late by then. I don't mean to offend talented writers but I find it quite juvenile.

We are already knee-deep in Batman media, yet here comes the Lego Batman movie :funny:

Yeah, what with the Nolan films, Arkham games, animation and the prospect of the BeastFleck, it really is easy to be a Batfan at present.

WB can keep believing that making Batman the face of all their Lego movies will solve their problems, but it'll still NEVER measure up to the greatness that is the Mega Bloks Cinematic Universe :o

I want a Lego Patrick Bateman movie. And they should do Lego 50 Shades of Grey for the ladies.

I would love Lego Goodfellas. I want Lego Pesci on my shelf.

Especially Batman!

Here's what probably happened.
WB wanted a Lego sequel.
Lord and Miller wanted to do the sequel but they are loaded with films
WB brought in McKay to direct LM2 but he didn't want to take away Lord and Miller's baby
Compromise happened
WB pushes back LM2 so Lord and Miller can direct it
McKay is given Lego Batman to direct on that date.

Everybody wins

A (nother) LEGO Batman movie is pretty fantastic news.

You all realize that that makes this another shared universe franchise.

Take out the sequels, and yes, pretty much.

1: Why should we take out the sequels? The sequels are more than half of the movies at this point.

2: The First Avenger wasn't about that. The Incredible Hulk wash't about that. The Avengers wasn't about that. Guardians had an element of that, but it wasn't really the focus.

Thor was a perfect example of how you can completely change the aesthetic of the Marvel Formula but at the end of the day it is still totally the Marvel Formula.

What is the Marvel formula, exactly?

That's funny, sure, but it doesn't really prove that all of the movies are the same. A few of those were taken directly from the comics (where that stuff happens all the time with both companies), most of these were executed in completely different ways (Pepper's "death" had nothing at all in common with Loki's, Phil's, or Jean Grey's), a few of them are from Fox movies so it doesn't speak to any trends at Marvel Studios, at least one of them (Coulson) was decided after the fact, there are Marvel movies where nothing like that happens (X-Men 1, The Incredible Hulk, any of the Spider-Man movies, Iron Man, Iron Man 2), and I'd argue that DOFP doesn't really count as an example of that anyway.
