BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman!! - Part 1

I don't know if I like the choice of Affleck or if I simply like it better than the rumored contenders.

One thing, I wonder what can of deal WB gave to Ben to take the role.

Will he have some say in the WF script and direction of the film? He is talented in this area and I hope they did - that would be a good thing. Isn't he a huge Batman fan too. Probably another good thing.

Really really really bad.........Bruce Wayne/Batman is duped by a bad guy and not only that he is Lex Luthor's champion!!!!!!??????.

That's actually what I WANT. Why else would Batman try to bring down Superman if he didn't think the character was a threat?

I think I need to stay off the comments on any facebook news outlet covering the story per I feel I will just be debating all day with no real outcome on it. The podcast over at cosmicbook news is basically saying Affleck being cast is going to run the entire film.

OK so I've taken some time to let this sink in, my mouth was literally open when I first read this news. I never considered Affleck for a second, mainly because of his experience with Daredevil. I thought he was done with this genre.

Anyways I don't think its the wort possible choice out there but it doesn't automatically thrill me. The choice just seems off.....
However I was one of those that wasn't sure about Heath Ledger as the joker initially so I'm taking the wait and see road and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Ben Affleck is the Batman you deserve right now

http://www.avclub.com/articles/ben-affleck-is-the-batman-you-deserve-right-now-ap,101999/

After a long and careful search for an actor who can bring to the role the necessary depth of jaw, Warner Bros. has announced that Ben Affleck will play Batman, as you have no doubt already heard through the sustained, mockingly-Boston-accented screams of the Internet tonight. Batfleck will make his debut in the Man Of Steel sequel—tentatively titled Batman Vs. Superman: What’re You Looking At, Queeah?—in 2015, which is rumored to be based on the acclaimed Frank Miller series, The Dark Knight Looks Wicked Pissed Off Tonight, I’d Definitely Give Him Some Space, Charlene.

Still, despite all the hilarious jokes like these and approximately 100,000 others involving Matt Damon playing Robin, Ben Affleck wasn’t a choice made lightly, according to director Zack Snyder, as well as every preemptively defensive article about this decision you will read for the next two years. “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry [Cavill]’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” said Snyder, whose filmmaking specialty is definitely “layered portrayals,” of the need to cast someone who could seem just slightly more charismatic than Henry Cavill.

And yet, Snyder is right that Affleck is indeed a seasoned crime fighter, with him having played Daredevil in a movie that is being noticeably omitted from most official stories announcing the casting, to the point where it seems really glaringly obvious, and even a version of Superman in Hollywoodland—a movie that finds Affleck mocked so mercilessly for playing Superman, he up and kills himself, so maybe everybody should give him a chance, lest we want blood on our hands. And yet, fans can't help but point out that Batman is obviously a much different character, a brooding soul driven by the sort of masterfully conveyed inner torment that Affleck is so skilled at hiring other people to portray in films that maybe he should be directing instead of playing Batman. But, maybe if he clenches his teeth like so…? Or, let me ask you this: To be a hero, Bruce Wayne must put on the mask, but must Bruce Wayne put on a shirt?

Anyway, for all our delightful late-night japes, it’s important to remember that nearly every actor who has stepped into a Batman film—from Michael Keaton to George Clooney to Heath Ledger—has faced this same sort of knee-jerk ridicule, and only occasionally deserved it. Also, that Ben Affleck is an increasingly mature actor who has by now earned the benefit of the doubt that he may surprise, no matter what’s asked of him. And it's also important to remember that, ultimately, you are powerless before the machine, your voice a mere mewling in the dark that will be inevitably silenced either by acceptance or grudging acquiescence, because you know damn well you want to see what happens when Ben Affleck plays Batman.

I gotta say, I don't know what to make of the casting. I guess I just have to see him in the role . I will say that beyond the expected Nerd rage that followed the announcement that there does seem to be a polarization from what I've seen. The mainstream reaction to this reminds me more of when Craig was cast as Bond than Keaton as Batman . You have reaction vary from WFT, This is the end of the world, meh, this is inspired, and he's gonna be great. Its all over the place.

I swear I will hope I never see the name Daredevil again my entire life after every single source or person bashing the casting choice has brought it up, I know it's somewhat natural but come on people.

Yeah if we go by elimination it's not bad we will have a manly Batman and women will have a good looking Batman. It's like killing two birds with one stone.

To all the people bringing up DD, I'm curious, if Gosling was cast you many of you be bringing up Young Hercules and the other stuff he did before he turned his career around?

DD was made during an era when F4 was big, not too long after studios(fox) were still in the transition from the 90's bat films. And Raimi's spiderman was the top dog, a film which was very much on the corny side.

For anyone to think that in a post nolan landscape, the guy replacing bale(of all people) is going to be directed by the guy who didn't "let superman smile enough" and turned superman into a "gangster"(fanboys), turned pa kent into a pragmatist and turn all the clowns he cast in watchmen into hardened psychopaths....and this performance is going to be something worth comparing to DareDevil and Jersey girl? Sorry but people are being willfully dense.

DD is the one with the play ground fight with all the wires and Colin Ferrel in full on clown mode.
What makes more sense, is ben going to give a grounded performance similar to his more recent stuff or his decade old stuff. Think hard.

IMO i think we dodged a bullet It could be worse.

I agree. At least it wasn't that ridiculous fan choice for Arm & Hammer.

I'm going to be open minded about this. I think he'll do pretty good, but as a huge fan of Bale's take on both Wayne and Batman(aside from how the voice became in TDK and TDKR), I think it's safe to say Bale won't be outdone this time.

:funny:

First, Starbucks was out of vanilla this morning and now this. The Mayans WERE right!!

All those websites with their so-called WB inside sources and none of them were able to break the news.

It could definitely be worse.

I think with the right vocal approach and suit, Affleck could do well as Batman. And we know the fight sequences will be crazy. He's got the Bruce Wayne locked down. Affleck adding his input to Goyer and Snyder is a good thing. Not to mention taking over in the director chair once the solo movies start up.

For me bale wasn't nearly as intense enough, and not charismatic enough. Two things I'm sure Snyder will pull out of Ben.

I'm looking forward to seeing Bale out done personally.

I think this is a great cast considering:

- He is THE MOST look alike Bruce Wayne we´ve ever got.
- Even if his acting skills are not that great as lot of people say (I don´t agree with it), the more reason he can take a role of a cold, emotionless figure (Unless you expect a Shakesperean Batman).

The only thing I ASK WB, is to make this Batman the SAME Batman from the Nolanverse. Makes total sense. They are looking for an experienced and battered Batman. Which totally fits the ending of the TDKR. An honest truth, if I were WB, I would not want just to throw away 7 years and tons of million dlls of three movies.

Besides it would be a great opportunity to keep Hathaway as Catwoman.

Your thoughts?

My only concern is Snyder still directing. I don´t want another DragonBallesqué movie... I think Nolan gave him waaay to freedom in MoS.

Now these phony websites will tell us who Lex Luthor will be.

All those websites with their so-called WB inside sources and none of them were able to break the news.

Why do you think that DC broke the Batman news the day after El Mayimbe broke the Rocket Raccoon story? Coincidence? Most definitely not? They saw the opportunity, seized it, BOOM, bomb shell, everyone's talking about Affleck as Batman. They are smart cookies, they didn't want it to get leaked the same way RR was.

10 TO 1 he winds up dating the girl they get to play Lois Lane and they get some hollywood couple nickname.

I never thought we'd get a casting announcement this soon for batman....I bet lex is going to be next

When exactly did Affleck turn his career around as an *actor*? I reiterate: The guy is a great director and writer, but even in his own movies he's only able to make himself passable as an actor.

Casting choices fanboys were wrong to complain about: Heath Ledger, Michael Keaton

Casting choices fanboys were right to complain about: Kirsten Dunst, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Nicholas Cage, Topher Grace, Ben Affleck (as Daredevil), Jessica Alba, Vinnie Jones, George Clooney, etc.

I understand each word you said individually, but when you've finished stringing them all together you've lost me.

Different strokes, I guess.
