That's not a pizza!

I even had a "Build your own lightsaber" toy kit where they include an assortment of crystals (color of the crystal= color of the blade).

Batman should defeat Superman in this film by constructing a kryptonite light saber. :oldrazz:

I swear no mom was every as sensitive to her son being criticized as a Nolan fan is for Nolan. :whatever:

LOL, not sensitive at all buddy. Bash to your heart's content! I just find the ungraceful way you have to shoehorn it in there hilarious.

To be fair, it isn't really "shoehorned" as it is relevant to a discussion about how Affleck should approach the character. "Not with throat cancer" is a stipulation that slumcat would probably insist upon. :yay:

It HAS to be in the film.

Otherwise you can retcon away any plot hole in any movie.

And even the book just says there is a device to amplify his voice (meaning increase the volume) but not to change it. Or am I reading it wrong?
It does not have to be in the film. It's obvious within the context, but moreover is an effect to affect the viewer and those he talks to in the film that does not require explanation except to placate nitpickers, lol.

Also, is it possible that the second batsuit has a modulator whereas the first suit only has an amplifier? I don't remember if his voice at the beginning of TDK also has the modulated effect or not. Either way, it's one thing to not like it, but it's another to assert that its explanation is necessary for it to work. It is not - that is something Nolan has always done, maybe too much, is trust the audience to understand context without needing unnecessary explanation.

Yeah...it was shoehorned, cause that's what slumcat will do in almost any given movie thread. We were not discussing the quality of the previous franchise as a whole and that certainly has very little to do with the topic at hand: "Ben Affleck IS Batman". Has nothing to do with even caring about what he said, I just called him out on his obvious tactics.

To my end, nor do lightsaber crystals. But I feel good having educated a few people.

A "secret" explanation of Batman having a voice modulator doesn't change the issue with the voice itself: which is that it often sounds silly, and not very intimidating or scary. I don't really care whether he's making the sound of a modulator is.

Sometimes it absolutely is scary and sometimes it's too over the top, but that's Batman to me anyway so it's all good.

Bale's Batman is just more metal than the other Batmen.

Deal with it. :oldrazz:

I'd be thrilled if they release a teaser with the Bat-voice at SDCC. Even if there is no footage, just a line by Batfleck would make my day.

They should mimic the guerilla marketing ala Joker in TDK. It's not often you get a chance to slowly build the introduction of one of pop culture's greatest icons. Since we're still two years away, might as well revel in the mystery.

I'd love for the first couple teasers to only show his silhouette and/or short audio clips of Ben's Batman delivery. This has the upside of dissociating Ben the actor, from the Batman performance. With this amount of lead time, WB can slowly but surely get audiences in tune with this new take on the character.

He should have used a creepy little Michael Jackson baby-voice. That would scare the crap out of criminals, cowardly and superstitious or not.

Considering we almost had David Boreanaz and Jake Gyllenhaal end up being Batman in the past, I'm going to go ahead and say it could be much worse than Ben Affleck. As long as he doesn't try to weasel Jennifer Garner into the series somehow, I'm completely fine with Ben as the Bat. Wouldn't have been my choice but I think he'll do a solid job. He's improved quite a bit as an actor over the last decade or so.

Ben and Jennifer don't want to work together again...a they've stated that in the media multiple times

Is anyone else as excited to see Affleck as Bruce Wayne as they are to see him as batman?

Wasn't trying to be negative btw, i just never thought Affleck was a good actor besides Good Will Hunting (i thought he fit that role perfectly) and The Town. Both are well-written where he had a hand in it. He served his purpose in Argo but his acting/character was very one-note and quite frankly boring. But the two that i named are the only ones i can think of, where i sat back and was like "im liking what Affleck is doing right now".

Hopefully he steps it up for Bruce Wayne because he has the looks for it and the visuals will be somethin' else, plus he has a bit of a hand in this whole thing. When that happens, Ben comes off well. But i just hope that he doesn't deliver a bad or flat performance like he has done for 90 percent of his acting career.

Shauner you really need to watch State of Play and the Company Men. Affleck is fantastic in both of those as well. I think your really understating his performance in Argo as well. Heck, he was on the only saving grace of Runner Runner.
