LOL "He looks so Bruce Wayne in those pics!" Yes, he looks tall, muscular, dark-haired and Caucasian.

Because that's such a stretch from how Ben normally looks. :hehe:

To be fair, he wasn't always that muscular and didn't always have that haircut. :oldrazz:

He's got a point. I mean, if he hadn't been cast as Bruce no one would see those pics on a website and say "Boy, Ben really looks like Bruce Wayne in these pics!" It would just look like Ben Affleck at a ballgame.

^ Yeah, that's probably true. Same with Gadot. People keep saying she looks like a princess in every pic that comes out, but if she hadn't been cast as WW, people wouldn't be talking about her at all!

Yes of course Sawyer is right but we have to talk about something.

Affleck is so Bruce Wayne in those photos.

Oh, and for anyone who says Affleck can't act needs to watch Phantoms lol. He was the bomb, yo.

Affleck can definitely act well IMO, but I also think he's given some very poor performances too which might explain some of the backlash, as well as how many terrible films he's been in (not recently).

From what I've seen he's been consistently good recently so I have very high hopes for BvS. It's funny how that can happen - when a good actor is awful in certain films. Take Brad Pitt - he's capable of being a great actor IMO, but my god... his performance in Troy... he makes me crack up in that film...

"You sack of wine!" ahahaha I'm LOLing just thinking about it.

True
He still looks like Ben to me

We're just trying to keep up the excitement, either in general or because some are still subconsciously weary about the casting. I admit he wasnt on my radar, but after the announcement, I accepted it. He's taking it seriously so thats good to see!

Hahaha. That's such a sobering dose of reality for this thread.

Someone above said it brilliantly, by god if these pictures were released even during the endless speculation as to who would Batman, nobody would look at them and say "OMG we've found our Bruce Wayne". It would be just a picture of Ben Affleck attending a game. Because honestly it is what it is.

But now people are excited about the movie or rather want to be excited about the movie, and knowing that its a done deal and Affleck is indeed cast and that to truly enjoy the movie they will HAVE TO enjoy and buy Affleck as Batman, they just see an ordinary Affleck picture and think he looks like Bruce Wayne.

Honestly, I don't see it looks wise - as to how he looks like Bruce Wayne anymore than any other normal good-looking Hollywood actor. When people say Cavill looks like Superman, I can see it, the face, the bone structure, the physique, the general look - you can totally make a case that he looks like Superman but when people say a Ben Affleck photo looks like Bruce Wayne all of a sudden now that he has been cast, I don't see it. He looks like Ben Affleck going about to me.

But of course its possible that his performance will truly bring Bruce Wayne alive, animate his features in such a way that we seen Bruce Wayne and not Ben Affleck in that familiar face - that is what great actors should be able to do. And that is what the challenge will be for Affleck.

To add on to this, Cavill being a relative unknown before MoS helped a lot. Most people have no preconcived notion of what Henry Cavill the actor was like. He didn't have the baggage of being a high profile A lister. MoS was his first real big hit that gave him worldwide media exposure. For better or worse he'll be tied to Superman for the rest of his career.

I think most of us are just recovering from the shock that Ben Affleck is Batman...and now we're just slowly accepting it and seeing bits of the character in him...delusion or self-hypnosis, I don't know, but at least he got those things right: caucasian, tall, black hair, dimpled chin LOL

I mean, that's a cute little sarcastic remark, but at the end of the day we've never had a Bruce Wayne on screen who was over 6 feet tall (he is 6'2" canon). Not to mention the square jaw.

So yea, he actually does "look so Bruce Wayne!"...

Yup! But don't you find it strange that for the actors who play Batman, height has never been an issue, but for Superman actors, it's a requirement?? I never understood that. Ben's height is a plus anyways.

Yeah I wish I had proof of this but when he was officially cast I was happy with it. I had no idea who I thought could have played Batman and was actually one of the few in the beginning that was trying to find a loop hole in having Bale come back.
So when I heard Ben Affleck I quickly looked up a photo of him just for the hell of it, looked at him and thought, "Hmm nice chin...nice...jaw...got that bat stare going on...hmmm.." *Checked his IMDB* "hmmm....Argo..The Town...those are awesome...I LIKE IT!"

yes, that is my usual train of thought. ;D

You had to look up Ben Affleck? You didn't already know who he was, how he looked and what movies he had done? :P

Hey you're doing it wrong! You're supposed to come up with a condescendingly snide remark! :argh:

haha of course I knew what he looked like and what he has done, but I needed to stare at every inch of his face because I was looking at the new Batman! :woot:
I only saw bits n pieces of Argo and The Town on t.v and remembered (from what I saw and the buzz they were getting when released) that I at least liked them so I quickly re-watched them both and was honestly blown away by both.
and I remember reading some of the comments on youtube and stuff about his casting and thought, "Am...Am I the only one that thinks this works! D:)

Call me sarcastic or snide all you want, I hit the nail on the damn head. :o

I NAILED ALL OF YOU!!! :argh:
