On the subject of derided Ben Affleck films we actually like, I'm going to risk drawing ire and bring up JERSEY GIRL. I really enjoyed that movie, and thought the relationship between Affleck's character and his young daughter was sweet and heartfelt. I think it's a real shame critical reaction was so venomous, as directing a film like that was a brave move for Kevin Smith, and the response arguably dented his confidence as a filmmaker.

Big budget Hollywood can make the gray and black look better than these.

Black suited characters remind me of Matrix...

The Arkham Origins suit would be the perfect inspiration for the new suit.

I've just never liked the grey on Batman (or the yellow chest thing for that matter). The all-black suit just fits him better imo. Pearl Harbor's problem was Bay taking a huge dump all over history and the US military, not Affleck.

Just watched the Top 10 Ben Affleck Performances video. He really is a capable actor with a dim period in his career. I really need to sit down and finally watch Chasing Amy.

Chasing Amy is great, he's awesome in that movie. So good.:word:

That gray costume isn't intimidating in the slightest, its actually hilarious. The all-black costume is more intimidating, looks better, and allows Batman to hide in the shadows better.

False. Actual real world camouflage tests have found that black is actually not as effective as dark grey and/or navy blue due to the fact that even in the blackest of black nights, *pure* black is such a harsh unnatural value that it contrasts with the surrounding environment and stands out.

all black costume is just lazy and quite boring arkham origins makes gray work so i don't see how it cant work on screen

Agreed. ^ That looks just as "intimidating" as an all black suit. It's all about hues and shades of the color--and placement.

Just don't do the shorts, as obviously that would emphasize his man-bulge and erase the fans' much preferred eunuch status.

We all know the fan-boy community can't cope with physical endowment downtown so... :whatever:

Gotta love teh scruffy, takes the badass factor up a notch.

Jersey Girl was on a few ago weeks one night. I knew it was hated, but I watched it out of curiosity.

Not tge greatest of films, but I admired the sincerity of Ben's performance of a struggling single father.

Granted it was a comedy by Kevin Smith, and therefore, you don't expect the greatest stuff, at least on my limited experience of his work. But Ben's performance and how he sold it to me is what kept from me switching the channel.

When giving the chance, he's absolutely capable of given a good performance. He did so in JG.
And he gave a terrific performance in Argo. He was in his element, because it was damn good crafted movie. Affleck's always displayed glimmers of something better in a majority of his past films, he just couldn't shine with what he was given.
But he's always had the potential.

I can totally understand where people's scepticism comes from. I can manage to a degree to understand the outrage.

But the hate, ****ing petitions? Those are people that I sincerely hope end up regretting their actions and ultimately end up enjoying his performance as Batman.

If it's a well crafted film, if Ben dedicates himself the way he did in Argo, which we know he's capable of doing, if it's something that he genuinely loves and believes in, then I firmly believe we'll be getting one hell of a Batman.

You can't even get people to vote in actual elections, but Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman? Let me make sure I sign this petition and rally in protest.

Accurate.

I'd like to point out that you don't have to look intimidating, in order to have an intimidating presence. And that's what's most important.

Batman needs to have an intimidating presence.

Ben was amazing in Shakespeare In Love!
I think Pearl Harbor wouldn't have left some underwhelmed if it wasn't for the Love Triangle. But I liked Ben in the movie and in Armaggedon; he really impressed me at the end when he was screaming at Harry after he ripped off his oxygen.

Oh come on, we all know Ben killed it in Pearl Harbor. That was his action movie audition tape, not DD. :o

fanboys lack imagination and need their actors to in everyday life look like the character why do you think naturally creepy looking crispin glover was fan cast as joker while heath was laughed at?

same with keaton who looks even less intimating than ben he was a short,balding,39 year old comedian

In JLU it looked good but all the actual costumes I have seen do have a sense of corny and funny, especially clothe and tights. The best costume I can recall is Keaton's.

Jersey Girl has been on Starz recently. It unfortunately is lumped into the Gigli fold because it was released not too far after and Jennifer Lopez was of course in it.
