Jersey Girl was on a few ago weeks one night. I knew it was hated, but I watched it out of curiosity.
Not tge greatest of films, but I admired the sincerity of Ben's performance of a struggling single father.
Granted it was a comedy by Kevin Smith, and therefore, you don't expect the greatest stuff, at least on my limited experience of his work. But Ben's performance and how he sold it to me is what kept from me switching the channel.
When giving the chance, he's absolutely capable of given a good performance. He did so in JG.
And he gave a terrific performance in Argo. He was in his element, because it was damn good crafted movie. Affleck's always displayed glimmers of something better in a majority of his past films, he just couldn't shine with what he was given.
But he's always had the potential.
I can totally understand where people's scepticism comes from. I can manage to a degree to understand the outrage.
But the hate, ****ing petitions? Those are people that I sincerely hope end up regretting their actions and ultimately end up enjoying his performance as Batman.
If it's a well crafted film, if Ben dedicates himself the way he did in Argo, which we know he's capable of doing, if it's something that he genuinely loves and believes in, then I firmly believe we'll be getting one hell of a Batman.
