So rumor is, Affleck may be involved in writing the film.

The one thing that worried me about this film was the script. Snyder and Goyer together? No way. While I understand Superman killing Zod, that came from the minds of Snyder and Goyer and not Nolan. We didn't need Zod dead just defeated.

Adding Affleck as a writer for thing gives me hope for this film. I honestly was expecting a more c plus to B minus type of film from Snyder/Goyer but now I feel this film could be great with Affleck involved in writing it.

DOFP, A:AOU, S/B. Great time to be a CBM fan.

They changed their minds on the Ninja Turtles being aliens back to them being mutants.

That was a betrayal of the source material. The Affleck backlash is just fanboys crying for no reason.

how do you defeat a mad men bent on killing superman and the humans without ending him?

you think zod would just give up the man was like a suicide bomber at that point in the film he has nothing left to live for and was 100% intent on killing everyone

Arguing about how other people are arguing is SUPER DUPER interesting.

....well excuse me dude. Someone posted like a page ago or so about the awards Affleck got from his role in Shakespeare in love.

So Affleck never improved his game from Gigli to The Town, Argo?
Seems about the same to me. He just makes better movie choices these days.

Halle Berry is great as Storm, **** as Catwoman. Chris Evans was great as CA, passable as HT.
Halle Berry was crap as Storm, she just happend to be in a decent movie. Chris Evans was about the only good thing in Fantastic Four.

EDIT: Actually, that's unfair. Halle Berry was actually passable as storm...her acting wasn't awful...i'm just letting my disappointment with her bland take on the character color my perception.

EDIT: whoops, wrong quote.

The original ending had Zod back in the Phantom Zone.

That defeats him.

*shrug* He asked for an example, I provided one.

And it's not just fanboys whining and moaning. I think we could consider ourselves fanboys considering we go on an internet message board of our own free will in our free time to discuss these matters and, from what I can tell, the message here has been overwhelmingly positive.

It's other places outside of the typically "fanboy" arenas. Like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit. A place where the majority are more than likely not fanboys. At least not of Batman.

Sure, fanboys congregate in those places. Of course they do. But if this board is any indication, the majority fanboy reaction is quite positive.

I myself am ambivalent to the choice, and I'm going to wait for the first official image of Affleck in the new Batsuit.

Once the frenzy dies down from the initial shock of the announcement, that's when we'll get our true gauge of positive/negative buzz.

ask this guy:

zod needed to die. they justified it and they did the same thing with batman. he just let ra's die, but he redeemed himself in tdk when he saved the joker after throwing him off the building. killing twoface makes sense too, he would've killed gordons son if the coin was badside up.

That's kind of anticlimactic though.

I'm fine with a Superman that kills in the absolute worst case scenario/as an absolute last resort.

He can't do it willy nilly, obviously. But when lives, THAT many lives, are on the line? He probably should.

If he hadn't have killed Zod, Zod probably would have wiped out humanity anyway. He probably could have all by himself.

He's not right for the role. You will never convince me he is. He is a terrible actor who can't do serious if his life depended on it. He doesn't have the look, he doesn't look threatening or tough. I'm telling you, Michael Keaton can not be Batman!!!!!!

You had me fooled for a while!! I don't doubt that Ben Affleck would be a decent Batman/ Bruce Wayne, I mean he sure as heck would be better than Tyler Hoelchin or Orlando Bloom right? One a young TV actor and the other a romantic lead movie star. The only issue I have is he might be just a little too old for the part, since we can only assume this franchise will take us until the end of the 2010's. And, I normally picture Bruce in his late 20's to mid 30's.

They will have to make him younger looking, I guess.

I'm saying the negative response is fanboy whining, and the positive reactions are fanboys praising; or at least ok with it. I am a fanboy, like you said, I wouldn't be here otherwise. I agree with everything you say, I was really just trying to draw a line between the two examples. For the record, I like Affleck for the role. I am really looking forward to it.

Well to be fair, could Meryl Streep bring anything better to Storm? :o

It's good actors, hindered by bad roles.
Affleck has been hindered in the same way.
But can we honestly say we see the same actor in The Town/Argo that was in DD/Gigli? He's just the same and hasn't improved in any way? He deserved more so the razzie award than he did that BAFTA nom? Berry deserved the razzie over her Oscar?

If Affleck does voice training/work to access some lower octaves and tones, his Batman could be great.

Affleck is an odd choice in the same way Clooney was. It feels a bit "Hollywood". But I agree. We'll have to see how this unfolds. Maybe Affleck can do something with the role. Like anything, it first depends on the script and the dialogue handed to him. I'm not especially concerned about the costume. They can make just about anyone look good in a Batman suit. So that's a no-brainer. It's just whether or not Affleck can find Bruce Wayne in his portrayal. To me, that will tell the story.

phantm zone is gone

any other ideas that were in the actual film

I don't mind Superman killing Zod but I don't know. I feel the scene was good and it makes sense. But Superman killing? I know he's done it in the comics and everyone could use Byrde's example but there's something about Superman that should have him above killing you know?

Understand the scene but not completely a fan of the killing. Still a good movie.

Or he can do what Bale did and drink a cat litter smoothie before each take.

If it's true that Affleck is contributing to the scriptwriting duties then my concerns are definitely being quelled a bit. It would most likely be only his scenes though. So only the Batman moments. Goyer's hold on Superman's character is still a worry.

Also I actually think the backslash and petitions are great and will only add to Affleck's intensity to get it right. It happens before all the best castings. Daniel Craig, Heath Ledger, etc.
