Chapter 37- “One of Us, One of Them” – Discussion Thread 9/29/08

i think the african dude is way cool ...but let us not forget that Isaac overcame the need for drugs and realized he could paint without it.

Ahhhh, the days when characters on Heroes had arcs and progressed naturally instead of being forced to just LOOK AWESOME ALL THE TIME!

I figure Tracy and Stripper Hulk might simply be artificial beings or something. Personally, i'd be cool with it. I like diversity in my origins. Possibly why I've never been all that much of an X-Men fan.

There's an image I'm never gonna get out of my head.

Kill off Hiro, for the love of mike he's such a dick to Ando and he's one of the best characters on there.
Claire is getting more weird by the Volumes as is Mohinder. I liked Syler and Noha here and Peter. Can't wait for the next episode.

This was a pretty good episode. Pretty good special effects when Jesse used his powers and Knox putting his fist through the German and the wall. Ando's reaction after wailing on the Haitian was priceless.

It didnt make sense for Parkman to manifest the African's abilities just by taking some hallucinogens and listening to music. I dont get why Bennet doesnt realize he can take care of Sylar for good now that the Haitian is back.

I think people are missing the point here. That everyone already has these powers and it's only a matter of unlocking them. Sylar can see how things work so he knows how to activate these things in himself by just looking at the brain. For other people to do the same it takes work. For Parkman it must be easier since he's already telepathic so maybe seeing the future is just an extension of that. I mean some people even have the same powers as others (like West last year who could fly and apparently there's another flyer around). I believe that they're going somewhere with this.

I dont really buy the explanation that Parkman's telepathy alone is linked to seeing the future, but I could maybe believe that by taking the hallucinogens he may have subconsciously connected with the African's mind using his telepathy and seen the future that way. Still seems farfetched to me though.

See that's an even better idea. Actually using his telepathy to understand his powers and how they work, therefor unlocking them in himself. I'm of the theory that everyone has these powers and it's only a matter of unlocking them.

Lol. If your theory is true, then just imagine what would happen if a Tibetan monk was born with an ability, especially something like telepathy.

A little off topic, but after watching Season 2 I noticed that they developed Matt really well. With introducing his father, that led to him to develop his powers. That in my opinion was one good thing that came out of Season 2.

That's the thing with Heroes; When one character is developed really well another suffers in terms of quality. This season so far it looks like Matt may be getting the shaft in comparison to last season but I'm curious as to where his story is going.

No way, she is definitely not a bad guy. She doesn't even really know what she's doing.

Also, why the heck can Matt suddenly 'see' the future like Issac/Peter/That new guy?

He took some sort of herbs and listened to some music. Maybe what the African man made has something to do with the formula aka giving people powers.

Ok this episode has gotten me excited for heroes again! I loved it!

HRG is THE MAN!

I still hate all this 'we are petrellis' soap-operish storyline though.

How come Present Peter is such a *****? I really hope something horrible happens to him so he can turn into badass Future Pete. :D

Maury told Matt during season two that he had just scratched the surface with his powers, that they are so much more. Matt's powers have evolved yet again.

It's consistant with comic book lore, most telepaths in the comics have developed to the point where they can see future events. ie. Prof X. Why is so hard for people to grasp that his powers have just one upped again, like Claire?!

I don't think his powers are advancing, and honestly I can't think of any comicbook telepaths who have seen the future as a part of their telepathy, but I could be wrong, I think Matt was using his powers to channel the African's ability. If he see his visions of the fuure in his mind, then there's no reason Matt couldn't use his powers to see them.

Am I the only one that immediately thought why doesn't Noah just get the Haitian to disable Sylar's powers, Noah shoots Sylar till he is dead or incapacitated, Noah decapitates Sylar, and then secures his head so it can never come in contact with Sylar's body again?

I mean, the show routinely shows/says that the only way to kill Peter or disable Claire is to remove their heads so why isn't that blatantly obvious to Noah?

i dont like this. then noone is special on its own.

i agree i dont think everyone should have the ability to at some point have every power as long as they can train themselves to be open to it. there needs to be some level of individuality.
