Mostly younger voters around 18-30 seem to like the idea of the safe injection zone. Our community has been dealing with drugs for quite some time. Our local sherriff and police department have been cracking down on both users and dealers. But their efforts have produced little results. I figure give these people tools to better themselves to become productive members of society. The safe zones are a stretch I agree. I think it would be the next step of the affordable rehabilitation center idea. I would have to ease into it.

There was a proposal by the city to create bike trails and walkways recently to increase eco-friendly travel a few months back, but it failed to gain traction due to budgetary problems. The support was there mainly for it to be easier for people in our community to find alternative means to get to work or children to schools.

I have looked into local businesses and private practices in the area on both the rehab and recycle ideas. There are local recycling centers (all scrap metal) that are privately owned that I'm looking into forming a partnership with our city's sanitation department as we have an issue with polluted areas in our town with heaps of trash. I would like to expand to glass, paper, and plastic. I also was looking into giving a tax break to anyone willing to enroll into the recycling program.

I have a city tax plan that I'm still working on. I'm doing research on the city's average income and the budget. From what I've seen, this town needs a budget reformation before any plans can be put into action. I need to find a way to get the funds without alienating constituents. I'm not sure I could pull a wealth tax on a city level.

Again, if you take the next step, good luck. Whatever else, I get a sense your heart is always in the right place and while that's not the only consideration in politics, nor should it, it matters a lot, at least to me.

Thank you. I haven't sought political or community allies as of yet. I need to work on networking.

I'm not sure if I should run with party affiliation to be honest. As you have guessed, I come from Texas and there are indeed conservatives in our community who don't like hippy liberals or feminazis and my ideas are on the progressive side. I may have to swallow my pride and run as a Progressive Republican... if that is even possible.

I did as everyone said and left when they didn't have the check ready. Shockingly, I got fired. I came back and picked up the check. So yeah my wife and her family are proud of me for standing up to my former bosses but now I'm out of a job so what good did it do? They had talked about hiring a lawyer to get my pay, or getting Osha involved. All over one month of work.

Anyway, my mother in law was helping us paint a room today, and she dropped off some bedsheets for a new bed. She also dropped off another cross with a bible verse printed on it. Another religious icon for us to display in our home that we didn't ask for.

i don't know if it's the same for all jobs, but when i started my job, i didnt get my first check until 3 weeks in. like you, first week was probation, then a bi-weekly pay period.

Yup. Thats basically what it was. I had some serious issues with my job, but the idea that my not getting paid for over two weeks was illegal was kind of pushed on me. I won't listen to my relatives like that again. They aren't as all knowing as they think.

I'm confessing that tonight I decided to scroll through my old posts, just for laughs, and was instead absolutely horrified by how rude, uncivilized and irritating I was - honestly, I feel compelled to belatedly apologize for it all, for every sarcastic comeback or snide remark. The fact that I'm still on this forum is a blessing, after what I saw there: I've done my best to go through some of my old posts and edit them, because wow, I was a really annoying person. I hope I'm not still so annoying. That experience was embarrassing, and humiliating. Sorry, everybody, and thank you for helping me to grow as a person - I hope I have it in me to do so much better than that in the future. Anyway, that's my confession of the day.

I know it might be unfair but when a poster claims to be supposedly in the middle of a college/university level education but literally every post is littered with grammatical and spelling mistakes I wouldn't believe the average 7th grader making... I just jump to the assumption said poster is unreliable when it comes to their relationship with the truth in general.


Maybe it's unfair but that's how I see it.

Continuing with Krypton's post, which he's absolutely right BTW, my main concern is that some cannot distinguish between YOU ARE and YOUR or TO and TOO.

English is not my mother tongue so I can make mistakes myself! But there are some basic grammar mistakes, like the ones I mentioned before, that are serious.

It’s not as crazy as you think. A history professor was handing back essay tests and said that many of us need to buy dictionaries. This was in 2003, so I’m sure nothing has changed.
