We can probably add 3-4M Domestic after this weekend.
I know it's off topic so I'll make it quick, but I can't believe how big Jurassic World is opening, not just in North America but worldwide. Predictions have jumped as high as 100% since the original $100M+ opening weekend predictions we were getting awhile ago. Fast forward to now and estimates for its opening day are at $82.8M, which would be the 3rd highest opening day of all time, and I read that opening weekend estimates are getting as high as $200M+.
Then there's your very strong overseas openings. It's looking like the film could hit $400M+ worldwide by Sunday, making it the second highest worldwide opening of all time behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. Just insane! Not just the numbers themselves, but the growth of the numbers from what was expected not too long ago. It's a classic case of blowing away all expectations.
Whoa.... Looks like JW is gonna break AOU's OW record.
I am not totally surprised. I enjoyed JW more than AOU.
I don't mind Jurassic World doing it. Would really love a dinosaur franchise to stay as a regular fixture in the calendar, especially when other genres and sub-genres are so well served already.
Maybe it's success would lead to an X-Men going to the Savage Land...I would love to see that.
It could beat The Avengers too.

I still think that opening the weekend at the same time as the Mayweather/Paq fight was one of the dumbest things ever. Had they released it a week before or after, we'd probably be having different numbers at this time.Marvel and Disney might want to rethink some of its release dates on its future movies...
Consider its summer, no school or college classes, or any competition whatsoever...The perfect storm....
Congrats Universal on a job well done....
You think it will get to $450M DOM at this rate?So let me guess after pages and pages of commenting on the FF7 numbers this place has now turned on a Jurassic World themed thread. At this point we should just rename it "Anything Universal Box Office Prediction Thread".
For those still interested in AOU's numbers (if there are actually any left), it did an estimated $3,641,000 over the week end, dropping 42% from last week. Current domestics total is $444,743,218.

Any chance at making 460?Back to AoU, again, it should be at or nearing $450 mil by next Monday I'd suspect.

They are factoring in a soft Sunday due to the NBA playoffs....Deadline is estimating that JW made 204.6 million domestic in its OW.
It captured the all time global opening at 511.8 million
and made 307.2 million overseas.
