basically saying Chestnut is overrated is like calling someone the shortest giant seeing as there's not an overabundance of successful black actors.
Well bully for him, but he's still a bad choice for BP, just bad. I groan when anyone around me says "oooh Morris Chestnut is this." He's just going to play some variation of a jerk.

I think Morris Chesnut is a decent actor for what is usally given to him. But I dont know if he's leading man good especially "leading man in an action movie" good

I don't know, people usually step their game up in roles like these. I remember when Chris Hemsworth was first cast as Thor some Australian person who watched him on Home & Away came on the forums and apologized for him because apparently he sucked on that show. Scarlett Johansson definitely stepped her game up in The Avengers as did Sam Jackson.

Morris Chestnut is a decent actor. He just doesn't scream "T'Challa/Black Panther" to me.

Morris Chesnut wouldn't be on a list of guys I think would be able to pull off T'Challa. Sure he could surprise with a great performance, but there are better actors who could act out T'Challa's nature a lot better IMO. I hope he's just studying it to try and land a role his agent told him about.

Trying not to look at this as JUST Chestnut doing his homework for a live action film. Obviously that would be the first guess, but what if it's for something animated related? Or just joining the bandwagon of actors trying to get the role? Maybe becoming a fan of the character for the first time?

I want to knoooooow. :cmad:

He definitely would get blown right off the screen in an Avengers movie. He could hardly stand up to Cuba Gooding Jr and Ice Cube.

I've only seen him in like two episodes of V.

This could only mean one of five things:

1) The reason he needs to get familiar with Black Panther is because Marvel has been working on this film behind the scenes for a while like Ant-Man and he just got cast in the role.

2) He just heard from his agent that Marvel is just now starting pre-production on a Black Panther movie.

3) He was cast to voice Black Panther in an animated film or the Avengers Assemble cartoon.

4) Someone recommended Black Panther comics to him

5) Black Panther is in Avengers 2 and he either got the role or is up for it.

2, 3 and 5 are most likely. Hoping for 1.

As in a foot (mine, specifically) up marvel's ass if they cast Chestnut as BP.

I mean, a black actor tweeting about getting familiar with the Black Panther doesnt mean he is the new T'Challa. He could be one of several other characters in the series, or he could be one of many on Marvel's radar.

But I think it's safe to say Marvel's cookin somethin up.

Yeah it doesn't mean Chestnut himself is going to be the new Black Panther, but it does pretty much tell us that something involving Black Panther is coming.

I'm just glad something is getting done with Black Panther, now...let's hope it's something GOOD being done.

Now to just incorporate this song in the film somehow:

I'm not big on Morris as BP.
I'll take the new guy Chadwick Boseman for BP

Hans Zimmer's Power of One score is pretty much what i want the music in a BP music to be like.

It sounds so majestic and its pure Africa

If Marvel is out looking for actors to play Black Panther right now, that means they have plans for him in the near future. I can't see them introducing him in A2, so could he really be set up to have a film in phase 3? I can't see them getting all these films it seems they're planning to out in phase 3 unless A3 isn't coming out until at least 2019.

Well, Assuming Avengers 3 comes out in 2018, there'll still be space for a BP movie. Or they could use BP to kick off Phase IV like Ant man kicks off Phase 3

2015: Ant Man
2016: Thor 3, Dr. Strange
2017: Cap 3, BP/GOGT 2
2018: Avengers 3, BP/GOGT 2

I'm looking forward to his performance in 42. Right now my top choice is Chiwetel Ejiofor.

If Marvel decides to go young, then Aldis Hodge and Michael B Jordan top my list.

There's still room for Black Panther to fit into phase 2, not that he'll be a part of it. But, let's just pretend Marvel has already been working on this film secretly, I could see it being released in November or December of 2014.

If they could somehow get both Chiwetel Ejiofor (as T'Challa) and Djimon Hounsou (perhaps as the relinquished Black Panther) THAT would BE so AWESOME!

That is never going to happen. Best I could see is that Black Panther is announced as a 2016/2017 film at this years San Diego Comic-Con
