Exactly...what we have is a desperate move by Fox to cling to the rights.

For all the good it's going to do them. Given a choice between throwing away 150+ million to rush this turd out the door, or letting it go to concentrate on the X-franchise I know which one I'd pick.

Eh, my money's on Fox cheaping out on the production. They took Dragon Ball (a series well known for it's energy blasts, fantastical settings, and giant ******* monkeys) and made it for $30 million (after the announcement that it'd be a $100 million film, even).

Okay, so maybe I do have a tinfoil hat. BUT IT"S ALL BECAUSE OF FOX!

:oldrazz:

I just pulled that number out of my ass. Who knows how much they've already sank into this wreck anyway? Still, it seems like an awful lot of good cocaine money going to waste.

So in this article Simon Kinberg compares himself to Martin Luther King. He also thinks that Iceman was played by a few actors over the course of the X-films. I'm just so damn excited for this phenomenal film now. Fox obviously couldn't have hired a better man for the job.

Looks like Fox's continuity issues will be a thing of the past with Kinberg in charge.

Poor Shawn Ashmore. Even the writer of his movie can't remember he was in the entire original X-Men trilogy.

I also heard Kinberg celebrated Easter with his family yesterday, ON HITLER'S BIRTHDAY, proving that he and Fox are despicable Nazi's who worship Satan. :csad:

 That interview is an actual interview with the guy. I'm not saying he's a horrible human being or anything, but he really does compare his dream of crossing over the various Marvel films with Martin Luther King's dream and he really did forget that Iceman was played by the same actor in the various X-films. Not sure the ultra defensive Hitler remarks are necessary. You act like I'm making up the interview I linked or something.

Knock it off....

Why not knock off ALL the outlandish hyperbole that keeps going around? Y'all aren't happy with how the film is turning out. Cool. I get it. But the constant mining of ever last word in every sentence of every interview until something negative can be found is so tired. Your points are clear and can easily be understood without resorting to extreme reaching.

Kinberg once again brings up putting Marvel characters to which FOX controls the movie rights on the FOX network. Despite having no TV rights to the characters.

I'm starting to miss the pederast.

I created it, and saying it was created by "someone against the current casting" is a bit like saying it was created by "someone who breathes air".:cwink:

I created it in direct response to someone who didn't like the fact that there was so much negativity on the boards and said we should have a place for positive comments. And I figured: "Sure, why not."

and some were smart enough to realize that quarantining positive posters to one thread wouldn't do much to lessen the negativity around here. i imagine that you don't like being told where you can post any more than i do.

Well you had to figure Hitler would make an appearance in this thread sooner or later... although it is in an interesting reverse psychology kind of way.

I really don't see the need for separate threads though. No one's quarantining anybody. Everyone can voice their opinions. Isn't that the point of a forum? I understand there may be some frustration level but it's ridiculous that one group should complain that the other has a different opinion or try to silence other people's opinions, complaints, whatever.

In my opinion there's a very good reason this thread and virtually every other thread on the topic I've seen (not just this site) always veers negative. If you can't handle that then just go to the Positive Thread. But you don't have to. It's there if you want to get away from the negativity. Seems fair to me.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR Producer/Writer Simon Kinberg Talks about the Tone, Costumes, Shooting Schedule, and More at WonderCon

Aside from confirming that the new movie will take place in the modern day, Kinberg says he doesn’t know how the 20th Century Fox marketing machine will start revealing the film to the public, so he doesn’t know when we’ll see the costumes.

SIMON KINBERG: The thing I would say overall about the film is that it’s a much more grounded, realistic, dramatic version of the film than those are films were. Which isn’t to say it’s Dark Knight. It’s not. It’s still fun and sort of…
Would you say it’s more “X-Men-y” or “Spider-Man-y”?
KINBERG: I would say “Spider-Man-y”—
Well, that’s both good and bad, because Spider-Man is a little cartoony.
KINBERG: But I would say there’s a spectrum, and we’re on the spectrum between Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Chronicle. It would probably lean more towards Chronicle. I don’t know where X-Men falls on the spectrum, so I’m just going to focus on those two things because I feel it’s a movie about young people coming of age. So it has some of Spider-Man and some of Chronicle aspects to it, but like Chronicle it’s much more real and grounded and real world than those other films.

Wrapping up, Kinberg said that shooting begins in Louisiana in two or three weeks and they’ll be shooting through late July or August. That’s a whole lot of clobberin’ time.

quarantining positive posters to one thread

There's that overblown hyperbole everyone loves.

People were whining about the negativity in these threads, it was pointed out many many times that no one was stopping them from spreading puppies and rainbows all over the place, they ignored that and continued to complain, it was then explained that nothing was preventing them from starting a happy sunshine thread, they refused and continued to complain here, someone else made one for them, they ignored it and continued to complain in here, and they're still complaining about it to this very day.

So it looks like they're just going to have to learn to deal with the fact that the majority thinks this production is an ass-sandwich and is going to speak of it as such.

Admit it: this thread and the Keep Hope Alive one is where the action is and no one wants to miss the fun stuff, despite their protestations otherwise.

We may have to quarantine you for such dangerous ideas.

There we go positive people should not be whining about anything negative said about this movie in other places

KINBERG: But I would say there’s a spectrum, and we’re on the spectrum between Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Chronicle

So it's somewhere between a very serious superhero film, and one of the most comic-booky films of all time?

Well that really narrows it down. At least we know it will be a movie, anyway.

Will the spectacle of the thing be somewhere on the spectrum between Clerks and Star Wars?

Seems to me Kinberg has done more harm than good as far as trying to generate any kind of excitement about this film.

I'm excited about what Kinberg said because that's the kind of tone I would like to see for this franchise. Comic looking heroes and villains with a more serious tone in comparison to Raimi's Spider-Man trilology.

I hear this movie is going to have some neat computerized visual effects, quality of which will be somewhere between Avatar and Citizen Kane. Exactly what I was hoping for. Man I am so hyped up for Fantastic Four in Name Only, not even in name any more. FFNEINAM.
