Had an amusing moment this evening watching a re-run of Stargate SG1's 200th episode. If you have not seen it, it's a jokey meta sort of thing with the team talking with the producer of a crap TV show that had been based on them about ideas for a movie. They had riffs on Star Trek, Wizard of Oz, Farscape (cute in-joke as 2 of the cast were in that as well), even Thunderbirds/team America.
What made me chuckle most though was the 'younger & edgier' segment...

It just reminded me of how this thing looks, and mirrors the reactions of a good few of us round here to it at the end, lol![]()

What they're doing with this does seem like a blueprint for bad film-making. And like with many of those examples we've seen in the past, everybody seems to see it except for those involved.
And the wait for the trailer set.
Who will turn into the 'wait for the reviews' set, then the 'see it for yourself and form your own opinion' set. And finally the 'its not that bad' and 'could be worse' sets.

just stop right there.if you dont wanna see the film, fine. No one is asking you to. But dont attack people who want to see the film in theater and give it a chance.-Personally, I don't see how someone can make an opinion about a movie when no one even knows what it's going to about. We have the main cast and two leaked pics: A good Thing bust and a lousy Doom that may not even be his main look. Which is why Fox is so stupid for covering up the film. It encourages people to think it's going to be an awful mess that they're trying to hide. And the wait for the trailer set.
Then after that, there's the "wait for the sequel" set, followed by "wait for the reboot" set.
Because I want to see the characters and how things work out so I can judge it for myself.
But when you first brought this up you had already come to the conclusion that what they're doing in the movies sucks. You've already given them a chance and you didn't like what they did. How many chances are you going to give them?
It puts some people defending this reboot in perspective doesn't it.That's just ridiculous.

There's kind of an inconsistency here.
On one hand you're a fan so you support it because your a fan, but if you boycott it, it doesn't mater since (and I quote) "We only make up 1% of the box office"
*****
Now what point is there to making the argument that you're willing to give a film a chance but you'll still see it anyway knowing it sucks?
Ummm no. When it comes to this reboot, I have my concerns so I am lowering my expectations but I am still trying to be open minded therefore I will watch it in theater.
With Resident Evil, I admit they are not very good but as a fan of that video games series, I will still watch them and even though I expect them not to be great due to the previous films, I still prefer to see them on my own so I can really form an opinion about the actual film.
And like I said if I am heavily following the film, I might as well watch the film the way I want. Also in my opinion, boycotting a film wont do anything since fans like us are like 1% of the whole movie goers community.
However that film, unlike FF, went and embraced the comic origins, and tried to be faithful to the source material, unlike the Stallone film.
And it was probably the Stallone film that hurt it.
That doesn't bode well for the Foxtastic Farce, since the previous film didn't do too well.
yup yupPeople remembered the Stallone version, so they had second thoughts about the Dr McCoy version. Same with the Ang Lee Hulk and The Incredible Hulk.
They can't be expecting this, unless they're idiots... I may not like them but I don't think they're total idiots. I'm in the camp that believes they don't care if it flops. All they want out of this is to retain the rights so they can keep the franchise away from Disney. So now when it comes to FFINO, how can Fox possibly expect this to do better than those other two movies listed above when Story's FF wasn't well received, and this version has no marketing and looks like it bears hardly any relation to the source material and is therefore alienating the fans of the comic?
yup yup

That's a nice little theory but so not true. TIH and Dredd failed on their own merit there previous movies didn't hurt them. Have you ever heard of Batman&Robin and it's subsequent reboot Batman Begins or Superman returns and it's reboot Man of Steel. Or in the case of Fox the xM:last stand or Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. All rebooted after some less than remarkable outings critical or financially.
yup yup

They'll keep losing money lol They're better off giving up the righbts like Sony did with Ghost Rider.
