You'll drive all the way up there and they'll announce that....

The movie is called "The Fantastic Four." :oldrazz:

LOL!

Aw, I thought we were routing on them simply calling it "The Four" or "4", heck they could even call it "Fo".

I would've actually been interested in a CG animated Fantastic Four film. You can go as outlandish as you want in animation people won't bat an eye,

I predict December if they arent going to NYCC.

Worst case scenario, Febraury or March.

It's hard to imagine a movie not having both a teaser and a final trailer. Given that, there has to be a teaser by at least December, I would imagine.

The 1st trailer for First Class came out in Febraury while for The Wolverine,it came out in March.

The X-Men movies has a fan base. The Faketastic Four does not have a fan base. The X-Men movies can get away with late trailers & lets ignore trailer releases for a bit. At least for the X-Men movies fox keeps the movies in everyone mind all through out production. They release behind the scenes photos / videos while filming is going on. They release stills & character promo shots. While filming is going on. They do lots of posters & they even do teaser posters sometimes while filming is going on. Then all of the stuff they do while the movie is in post production. Compare that & how fox does that with most of their movies besides this one

Just goes to show that even Fox has no confidence in the product. This is ridiculous to say the least. What are they betting on? Like seriously? Do they think this film will be successful just because it's a 'Marvel' film?

The growing consensus has always been "rights ransoming" IMO. And considering the moves FOX has been making with this reboot or lack thereof, the initial assessment feels more and more plausible each day that them reveal nothing. As a result the poor FF franchise continues to get kicked through the field goal of life.

Is that being negative? Perhaps.

But IMO no studio who's truly confident that they've got a good project on their hands would sit on as long as FOX has. Especially knowing the reluctance people have with reboots/remake in general or the competition FOX has chosen to face up against next Summer.

So indications for me point to this film being a small, low budget, direct to video type film who's purpose is to retain the rights till Marvel ponies up.

Oh, it'll hit the big screen. But won't last long. Clearly Fox isn't putting much confidence or money into the project and I'm not sure how anyone can not look at it as an attempt to hold onto the rights. But I wonder why? It's not a huge money maker...surely not as much as they could get from just selling it off to Marvel....

That only means something if Marvel are buying, and GOTG has shown them that Marvel might like to have the FF rights back, but they don't need them. It would be interesting to know how much Fox were wanting for the rights, and how much they are worth now.

My bad, when I said this film is a "small, low budget, direct to video type film" I was referring to the quality.

FOX wouldn't dream of depriving all the "Wait and see" people from wasting their time and money on it despite all the red flags.

It would make no business sense for Marvel to buy the rights back. They have more than enough properties on their own and the Fantastic Four brand is soon to be toxic, if it isn't already. The property itself doesn't have much value to Marvel, like Spider-Man would.

If I ran Marvel, I wouldn't buy it unless I could get it for pennies. It sucks for the fans, but that doesn't justify bad business decisions.

I disagree. Marvel certainly can benefit from the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Doctor Doom, The Badoon and Annihlus in the MCU. All of those cross over with other properties.

And if this film fails, Fox would indeed be smart to sell the rights back in exchange for the rights to make a live-action X-Men TV show. It's the only way that I could see New Mutants working. So Fox gains around 3 billion, the X-Men TV rights and the rights to Hit Monkey. Marvel gets the Fantastic Four back along with poaching the Shi'Ar and Brood from Fox.

I also hope that Marvel also gets Spider-Man back.

If Fox owned Iron Man, Cap, Thor and Hulk, and ran their collective group into the ground, they would soon be known as the Toxic Avengers.

Marvel would certainly benefit from getting the FF rights back, much of the core of the cosmic part of the Marvel universe is tied to those rights. But right now Marvel has shown with GOTG that they are not required to have the FF rights (Silver Surfer, Galactus etc) to build the cosmic corner of the MCU. Long term the lack of those rights could definitely cause problems but that is something that is years from now as there is enough for a few more GOTG films before the squeeze will be felt. And thats not counting all the other MCU franchise films that will also be made, so that many GOTG films will take a while. And right now the fans are far more interested in Marvel making a Black Panther film or one with a female lead to care about MArvel getting back the FF rights.

Thats not saying I don't want Marvel to get the rights back, I would love to see what Marvel could do with the franchise, as well as the integration of the cosmic parts into the MCU (I'd love to see Marvel build the cosmic franchises before bringing them together for an Annihilation inspired event, basically an Avengers film for MCU Cosmic). But right now Marvel has plenty of franchises to work on, and GOTG will give them the confidence to not feel that they have to rely on the big name franchises.

So I think we could be looking at another 7-8 years before Marvel starts to feel a need to get the rights back, and who knows what will happen to the rights before then. If Marvel did get the rights back soon I think we could see them moving pretty quick to integrate the franchise, probably first with the cosmic characters but I think Marvel would get the FF themselves onto the big screen sooner rather than later. The franchise has a lot of qualities which Disney would like such as the family aspect etc. Maybe with a director like Brad Bird. Getting him to do what would basically be a live action 'The Incredibles' would generate massive interest before they even thought about any advertising.

Well if that's not a terrible omen I don't know what is...

The quickest way to get perma banned is to be a little internet smartass about real people who have passed away....I really really suggest people think about this before they make another post.

To be clear I wasn't being smart with my comment (I know you don't mean me though C. Lee). I was genuinely shocked and expressing that. I wasn't being facetious at all though it was a comment on how strange this production has been hence the "bad omen" statement.

My warning wasn't directed toward you at all....it was the deleted and infracted posts that were out of line.

Anyone who read anything on the net after such celebrities as Robin Williams and Joan Rivers recently died....saw a lot of talk about immature cruel evil internet trolls saying things because nothing would be done to them....well, people....you can be trolls elsewhere....we will not accept it here.
