Technically we've seen more of the Deadpool movie than this film, with the released test footage.

As if this movie wasn't looking terrible enough, now it's got Rob Liefeld defending it.

i read on twitter today that they're doing some re-shoots in wilmington, nc

Rob Liefeld is full of ****. Fox are so ****ing hiding this film. There is no defense of Fox in this case.

Any buzz on who's involved?

no idea

the tweet was basically some young girl saying "OMG i found out my dad is going to work on the fantastic four reshoots" or something similar to that

Nobody read the follow up tweet that said "this is awful if word of this gets around my life is OVER this ruins EVERYTHING :("

I like the part in a response to another tweet where he calls both Thor films and Iron Man 2 ****. Thor and Iron Man 2 are certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Thor: The Dark World is fresh. Most critics and audience members liked them. Fox Marvel films have a mostly rotten rating (6 rotten to 1 fresh and 4 certified fresh). RT isn't a perfect gauge, and everyone has different taste. Still, I don't think Liefeld's the guy you want as the champion of your film.

I agree with Liefeld on the quality of Iron Man 2 (a supremely bad film IMHO) and the Thor films (not terrible but not good either IMHO), I don't care what Rotten Tomatoes says. Even Marvel admitted that Thor 2 wasn't great in so many words. Still he's wrong about Fox not hiding F4, they are so hiding F4.

What? When did Marvel admit that?

People use Rotten Tomatoes scores when it suits their arguments. When it doesn't they say it doesn't matter.

It's just like when people say "Forget the critics what do they know" or "The critics hate it that means I'm gonna love it" as an excuse to validity their hype and it not wavering

I've never used a rotten tomatoe score for anything other than to say that I don't give a damn about any rotten tomatoe score. I don't care if a movie I love or hate is loved or hated on rotten tomatoes.....

I like Rotten Tomatoes, I'm fine with Rotten Tomatoes. I just disagree that Iron Man 2 and the Thor films are good. Nobody agrees with every consensus. I'm allowed to not 100% agree with the critics.

I've seen too much how people out for the lulz (or however they spell it) can screw up any poll or rating on the internet...so I don't trust any of them.

haha

Humor aside though, it really is telling. If you're so lacking in defenders that Rob Liefeld feels the need to weigh in on your side, that's not really a good sign.

I don't care about IMDB scores and the like. If I like a film I like it, if I dislike it I dislike it no amount of praise or derision will change my views. I'm not rich though so I do like to consult reviews from critics if I'm on the fence about seeing a film.

RT scores mostly just decide if I see a movie in theaters or not. I feel like, in most cases it doesnt hurt to wait for the DVD/Blu Ray in seeing a movie so if the RT score turns out bad I'll just wait until the leak or DVD unless it's something I really want to see.

Ive never straight never watched a film because of the RT score. And IMDB scores are a joke. Can't take those seriously

They didn't directly, but at the press event which revealed Black Panther and the MCU slate through 2019, they made mention of wanting to take Thor to the next level with Ragnarok, or something to that effect. People read between the lines in regards to Thor 2.

The films certainly weren't bad, far from it, but they weren't great either imo. Hopefully Ragnarok gives the franchise it's Winter Soldier. That's certainly Marvel's plan.

No scores determine what I watch at home or in theaters. For theaters, it simply comes down to - do I want to see it, do I want to see it at the theater (has to be something that needs to be seen on the big screen), do I have the time and money to see it at the theater.

Well personally I was thrilled to hear Feige say that. I take that as Marvel realizing Thor has not reached its potential which I agree with. However, I am still able to recognize what Marvel's been able to accomplish with the character and I enjoy the films immensely. I honestly don’t understand the bashing they get around here. Everybody's tastes are different but considering I actually enjoyed The Dark World more than The Winter Soldier I just want Thor 3 to be the best Thor movie possible. And I think it will be. I don't remember a lot of praise for the Captain America franchise before Winter Soldier came out but that showed us what they are capable of. Marvel Studios isn't perfect but I believe all of their characters are in very good hands.

Rotten Tomatoes certainly is not infallible but it is a worthwhile metric I think. Unlike IMDB I fail to see how it could be spoofed. It basically compiles critic scores. However, I never let it dictate my enjoyment of a film. I agree with C. Lee. If I really want to see a film I’m going to see it regardless. The RT score may persuade me to skip a film I was on the fence about watching or may even get me to consider a film I might have otherwise ignored. But there have definitely been times I’ve been dumbfounded by a high or low score for a particular film.

Wow. Rob Liefeld is a ****ing idiot. Here are some of his tweets.

Fox is notoriously secretive with their Marvel films. We know very little about Deadpool, Apocalypse as well as FF. Casting then zip.

Occurred to me that we've seen just SLIGHTLY more Ant Man pics and footage than new Fantastic 4 but everyone's all "hey FF is hiding stuff"

He's blatantly wrong on both counts. Let's break it down, shall we?

Bryan Singer was regularly giving behind the scenes looks at DoFP on social media and he's already started with Apocalypse. We don't know much about Deadpool because it was only greenlit very recently (therefore that's a ridiculous comparison). They've never put out a single Marvel film that went from "casting to zip" before the 2015 Fantastic Four movie.

Fantastic Four has shown absolutely nothing in the footage or pic department related to the actual film. Zero. Nada. There are a handful of leaked photos and candids of the Baxter Institute, but none of that is official. Even if you want to count that, comparing it to Ant-Man is ludicrous. Ant-Man has had teaser footage shown and behind the scenes footage shown (in television specials watched by millions of people live, no less). There have been multiple Ant-Man convention presentations. Set photos and behind the scenes pics were officially released throughout filming. An official banner artwork has been shown. We know what Ant-Man looks like. We know what Yellowjacket looks like. The trailer is classified (so it will release within a couple of weeks). A tie-in comic has been announced. We know it will feature Pym as Ant-Man in the Cold War era. The cast is regularly promoting the film. Evangeline Lilly in particular has been very positive on the whole experience. Marvel has begun teasing an Avengers connection (the latest official artwork has an Avengers Initiative logo). In other words, Ant-Man has shown WAY more than Fantastic Four (it's actually shown more than most 2015 films not named The Avengers: Age of Ultron, people just keep thinking there's less than there really is on Ant-Man for some reason). The Fantastic Four is releasing only a few weeks after Ant-Man, and it's clearly more than a few weeks behind Ant-Man's promotional schedule. Keep in mind that when it was filmed it was supposed to release before Ant-Man and it just gets pathetic.

Mr. Liefeld, if you're reading, get it together man. You've done a great deal for the makers of pouches, shoulder pads, and fake muscle suits. The cosplayers alone have put some pouch-makers children through college and it's all thanks to you. I'm sure Fox sends you a nice check from time to time to "consult" on Deadpool and that X-Force film they can't seem to get off the ground, but you're out of your element.
He's clearly a Fox man which is enough for me not to ever take him seriously or ever support any of his future projects.

He could just be saying that for click bait but then again being a Fox flunkie posting nonsense comes with the terrortory.

I agree. Although the films are flawed they still deliver the entertainment and give us plenty of great moments. They gave us Loki and the great Tom Hiddleston.

I'm glad Marvel recognizes what needs to be done with this franchise going forward. Ragnarok may be the film where they finally unleash the potential.

Liefield can be a Fox-fan all he wants, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but in my opinion Fox made 11 Marvel movies so far where three were great, two were okay, and six were not good at all.

They are less than 50% with me personally. I will check out and have have high expectations for XM:A, but I ain't bothering to see their FF reboot.
