For the last time I'm not talking about the trailer. Stop bringing up the trailer because I'm not talking about it. I don't think there is anything wrong with them releasing the trailer in February or March.

I've set fire to that straw man so now you guys can stop bringing it up.

If you think they are hiding the film its probably because they are saving the 1st look for the trailer which isnt really a problem unless you are impatient to se a footage from the film and maybe you have missed it but thats what Kinberg said when they didnt attend Comic Con last year. When they are ready... theyll show a footage. Also we got the official premise last December.

They maybe hiding it now but in a few weeks they wont be hiding it anymore when they finally unleased the trailer.

And having set photos taken by paparazzis isnt an indication whether the film is gonna be good or not... see Man of Steel.

Again this is Fox not Disney or WB... unless its a Blue Sky or Dreamworks Animation film... Fox doesnt usually release promos very early.

It's great how you just throw that little qualifier there just to disqualify Peanuts, which would have discredited your argument. So apparently not only do the other companies have different promotional policies from Fox, but the same goes for Fox's own subsidiaries.

And as Willie has already out, Wolverine already had a more extensive promotional campaign despite being released in the same time frame.

Wolverine is a bigger movie though at least with FF we are getting the trailer earlier.

And no its not just Peanuts... the 1st trailer for the Ice Age films came out very early. Like a year before the theaterical release.

It gives people the impression that they don't believe in the film, regardless if that's the case or not. You'd think they would try harder to get people excited about a franchise that had two mediocre films in recent memory and doesn't have that much good will.

I saw Man of Steel twice in theaters actually and enjoyed it tremendously. I look forward to Batman v Superman in 2016. :yay:

I'm talking about the studio releasing photos not the paps.

Anyway I don't think they are hiding the film, it's a fact that they are hiding the film. Regardless of what the actual quality of the film is it's obvious that Fox are terrified of showing us anything. So either Fox are stupid and are hiding a great film or they are hiding a bad or mediocre film. Either scenario makes Fox look really bad.

That just reinforces the perception that FF is a lesser concern to Fox, which is a puzzling attitude to take with a film one would expect they'd be trying to put over as much as they can.

Peanuts, Ice Age, whatever: Fox DO promote their films early, contrary to some posters' assertions.

I already gave you an example that Fox has a slow burn marketing for their non animated films... Spy which is coming out this May only got a trailer release this week.

And Feb trailer release of FF should make up for the lack of early releases of production still, poster, logo and set photos.

And we've given you dozens upon dozens of examples of the exact opposite. Even from Fox itself.

You just refuse to accept them because it doesn't fit into your narrative of how this movie is going.

Badly, it's going badly.

Maybe he is a Fox emplo...ah nevermind, even they are calling this movie a mess.

I really wish Fox would get hit with a hack and have some emails leaked.

Really curious about what the higher ups and producers have to say about this movie.

I bet it's not favorable.

Exactly. They don't even try to get our attention, imho. :whatever: There is also another possibility: Fox guys believe that everyone is so hyped for their next FF installment that they don't feel obliged to release anything related to this movie. :funny:

Wolverine is bigger than the Fantastic Four?

If the studio really feels this way (and it seems they may) why would anybody want to see such a lackluster effort?

You've just told all of us that this film won't be close to showing us the real Fantastic Four and isn't worth our time.

Doing the FF right would require a film far bigger than Wolverine.

There are a few possible reasons for FOX's unwillingness to promote FFINO:

1) It's awful
2) It's certain to infuriate longtime FF fans
3) FOX considers the FF undeserving of the promotional campaign provided for an X-Men or POTA movie.

In any case, I don't know how anyone who considers themselves an FF fan would want Rupert Murdoch's company to maintain control over a franchise the studio clearly holds in disdain.

Exactly. And the positive people frequently write themselves into a corner when attempting to defend this movie.

So Fox don't release marketing early for a movie unless it's animated, Wolverine, or soon any property other than the Fantastic Four.

And before anyone mentions Planet of the Apes, that is a long-running franchise from the 1960s. It's not like it's had numerous failed adaptations and then had to try to reboot to make it completely different. The original 1968 film is a cinematic classic. The franchise already has built up a certain amount of good will over the decades such that even if it didn't have as much marketing, people know what they're getting. Same with the X-Men franchise.

It's not like FFINO which is both a complete pig in a poke and like trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Let's not forget there's also the very plain fact that Fox NEVER even announced the cast for this film. We all learned about the cast of the film second hand (Simon Kindberg comments, leaked rumors etc.). Fox themselves never said one word about this or issued any press releases to even show that this is a real film in production. No movie studio does that unless there's a problem. That and the fact that the actors themselves aren't allowed to promote or say anything about the movie is an indicator that there is big trouble.

I'm telling you, I am VERY interested in hearing from Josh Trank after this movie comes out and after what is surely to be his last Fox film and hear what he has to say about what went on behind the scenes of this production.

It is weird that there wasn't even a press release formally announcing the main cast members.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: the *only* reason Fox is making this movie is to keep it from reverting, so they can retain it as a bargaining chip. They don't want a mega successful FF franchise, they want to force Marvel into writing them a big check.

I think most everyone realizes this. If you sit down and examine everything without fanblinders on it makes perfect sense.

I mean, even movie websites are starting to mention how weird it is that there is no official marketing out there for this movie.

The plain and simple fact of the matter is that it is UNUSUAL for a big summer comic book movie to have NO MARKETING this close to release.

And that means they're hiding something. Not building up hype, HIDING something.

Just look back at the BayTurtles movie. We had not a single solitary thing by way of official marketing. Nothing at all. Until March of last year, when the teaser dropped.

The only reason we even knew what the Turtles looked like was through leaks of maquettes, and a ToyFair promo image. That's literally it.

And that movie turned out to suck ass.

It doesn't matter how you want to delude yourself or reason or whatever, it is not a good sign that the studio is hiding this movie from people.

That's true, TMNT was very quiet on the promotion front, but they at least had press releases and official announcements. And no matter what we may think of the movie, it generated a nice profit, almost $500 at the box office.

Say what you want about Bay, but he was smart enough to change Alien Turtles and Caucasian Shredder due to fan outrage. I don't see FOX doing the same for FFINO. After all, this ain't Gambit!
