As bad as the Story films were they did get the core F4 team and the Silver Surfer's characters spot on, apart from Sue.

Chiklis, Evans and Gruffudd were really good as Ben, Johnny and Reed.

The majority of the bad taste for the first film was around how they handled Dr. Doom who was badly miscast with McMahon.

Gruffudd was awful.

Gruffudd was awful.

I think it was the way he was written, because in virtually everything else he's in, he's more like Reed Richards than in those Fantastic Four movies - whether it's the leadership side, the intelligence side etc.

Everyone should get together, call your friends & neighbors, stay home and watch the Corman film the day this abomination comes out. If that don't send a message,I don't know what will.:oldrazz:

"FF fans stood away in droves,as the new movie made only 3 million at the box office. Roger Corman's unreleased film however, got a surprising 44 million hits on youtube today..."

post of the month. I applau you sir!

I had this crazy dream about the movie. It leaked online and fans watched it. The weird thing was that the dream was incredibly realistic. I know the actual product won't be anything like my dream (unless it is, in which case I hereby declare my bid for world domination as I have superpowers now), but it still made me wake up in terror. The movie was less than an hour and a half long (the one good part, as the damn nightmare played out in seemingly real time), it was incredibly cheesy, the powers barely played into it, Domashev had a ridiculous accent (and he was, in fact, a programmer. He made some weird "Doombots"), and for some odd reason Reed tried to play football. Sue also hated him, until she didn't anymore. This stupid movie has found a way to attack me in my sleep. It's like Freddy Krueger, but not as funny.

:funny:

I had one too! It was 3 or 4 days ago and I can't remember the details clearly, but I was sitting in the theater and it was REALLY bad. I think there were some points where they broke into song.

No singing in the nightmare version I had to endure, but they did frequently break into ridiculous acting. Domashev's accent, in particular, sounded like a cartoon caricature of an Eastern European voice.

re: the Corman version
I've tried to watch it once before and couldn't do it. It was the middle of the night and I decided sleep would be better (little did I know I'd nightmare-watch the world's worst FF film months later...). I'm up for watching it when Chronicle 2 comes out, though.

Fun fact: he had a smug look alarmingly like that in parts of my nightmare-movie. Even when he burst into flames he was incredibly smug about it. Other actors that stood out in my nightmare-movie: Toby Kebbell hammed it up like Raul Julia in Street Fighter: The Movie, but in a less endearing way, Kate Mara's Sue was quite annoying (went a complete 180 with Reed), and Reg E. Cathey distinctly came off as grumpy in one scene. The specifics are fading (thank goodness, because it was awful), but it involved Reed.

Why do half of the Four have this smug, annoying look?

Not sure who decided Teller was a good fit for Reed. I would've taken Kit Harrington over him. Harrington was up for the part but he dodged a bullet not getting the part of Reed.

Josh Trank did. IIRC Teller confirmed that Trank was the one who cast him.

The same way that Trank decided that MBJ was a good fit (after the extensive auditions, no doubt). :o

Julian McMahon's character on Nip/Tuck was a sexed up version of some of Dr. Doom's personality.

The movie just implied too much about the relationships. Doom and Reed spent all of like 5 minutes on screen together yet we're supposed to believe they knew each other well.

Same problem with Harry and Peter in TASM2.

Dr Doom cavorting on the beach with Dannii Minogue in an early music video of hers from the early 90s which sounds like a Coca Cola song.

:hehe:

The two of them were married for a short while.

Oh god, Kit Harrington would be way worse. I've seen him in quite many projects and he always plays the same sulky character. No thanks.

Teller isn't the perfect choice by any means, but i have to say that some of his recent roles have been more promising and he is is actually quite good at what he does. Glad to see he can do more than *****e roles.

At least we got some subtext. Not, "We've been friends for how many years?"

"Our whole lives."

"What happened to you?"

"I went away."

At least it didn't cut to Reed and Doom skipping ****ing rocks.

The only time one will ever see me defend the first Fantastic Four is when I compare it to ASM2.

Why do people hate the Story films so much? I really don't think they are nearly as bad as people say. Even Alba was decent, despite being terribly miscast. And the other 3 leads did great.

The only real issue is with the treatment of the villains. And even then, the worst by a VERY large margin is Galactus. Whereas, Surfer was handled well, and Doom was half way decent.
