The Dark Knight Rises First picture of Catwoman

I wonder how she managed to steal the pod and how the hell Batman is going to get back home without a ride.

The pic is not stunning at all. Nolan certainly didn't venture to take the risk and implement something more from the actual appearance of the character in comics, but rather decided to go the same route and put too much realism on one of the most iconic figures in Batman's arc.

The first time we got pics of the Joker and Bane I was completely on sold on them. I was really impressed. This time I feel dismayed. It's not about the background, or the light or even Batpod. It's all about her outfit and I highly doubt anything about it will change in the film. This is the way Nolan has Catwoman in his vision for the whole film. It's now one of the fewer aspects I disagree on with Nolan in this trilogy. I love his films and I consider him one of the best directors of his generation, but this looks nothing like Catwoman... even the most modernized and grounded version of her. This is just Anne Hathaway in black trico, wearing hi-tech glasses and riding Batpod.

Actually to be BRUTALLY honest, the problem won't even the costumes.

I simply don't think Hathaway is that deep of an actress.

She's a mediocre at best yet for some reason she's been propped up too much in the last few years. I really don't find her to possess that certain beauty, class, and sophistication that Selina should have. But I guess in today's Hollywood, the standards of what it takes to be an actor are significantly lowered compared to yester-years (you think Shia or Zac or those Twilight vamps are going to be the De Niro's and Pacino's of our times?)

While Anne isn't terrible as IE John Conner's wife from T4, she doesn't possess any of the chops that Heath or even Pfeffier had.

Pfeffier WAS Catwoman. Heath WAS the Joker. They did not feel like actors paid to simply "play" the roles.

Hey, poo on me for being so harsh so early but I've seen NOTHING from Hathaway that convinces me that she has what it takes to be a character. That is assuming that her part is going to be much more worthwhile than the terribly boring and one-dimensional Rachel Dawes.

I think at the end of the day, Nolan's Catwoman will inevitably be compared to Burton's. What looks to me to the game breaker, AT THIS POINT, is the fact that Michelle Pfeffier has that "mysterious" aura behind her (cat) eyes, whereas Hathaway doesn't have that look, there are no hidden emotions.

if that is the catwoman suit, than it sucks, just proofs that when it comes to non-realism and pure comic fantasy, Nolan sucks

Can anyone think of a reason why she'd wear a domino mask and not a cat mask? I'm seriously struggling to think of why one is more justifiable than the other.
uhm.. afraid of splitting hair?

:oldrazz:

You make a very good point tho!

the realistic reason I don't like the non cowl aspect of the suit is that if she is a high tech burglar that hair would be leaving DNA evidence at every crime scene.
Exactly!
Well if that part of her being a burglar is in this movie, it might not be.

Ding ding ding, that right!! What does he win Larry?!!

You know for the reboot, I want a more imaginative Batman, sorta like a Sin City but everything in color! Well some things could be in black in white for flashbacks or ending a scene that is depressing or just dark. Batman with really pointy long bat ears. Catwoman with her purple suit and shiny goggles.

It's just really bugging me. It's silly if she wears a cat mask but it's perfectly fine for her to be wearing a domino mask which does an even worse job of hiding her identity? Something doesn't add up.

I disagree. I think Hathaway is already a great actress and she will only go higher from here. She's the female equivalent of Ledger.

Oh, and Leo was bashed like no other up until 2003. If his movies had come out the same time as the Twilight ones he'd be compared to actors like Pattinson or the werewolf guy.

a cat burglar does not have to look like a cat....so what..... she does nott have the ears in this picture ...but i thought they were confirmed...so whats the problem?

Another example proving that Nolan cares about his vision more than real life practicality. If you use it, you can pick apart pretty much everything in his movies, its not just Anne's uncovered hair.

To add an opinion - I like the look.
For me personally it seems like the Selina Kyle charactor is the one who is being guarded the closest from any info, pics or plot leaks so just getting to see something is a good start.

We have no idea at what point this pic is taken, in what context of the film or if/how she even becomes 'Catwoman'.

I'm not inclined to tell people what to think or feel, but me......
I'm going to have faith.....I've never been let down by a Nolan film.....especially one from this Batman series.

Hathaway is very acclaimed of an actress, so I have no idea where all this "hathaway can't act bs is coming from" as for the costume, I wouldn't know because i can't see anything! I need to see a full body shot to see how well she looks.

true. she doesn't have to be a burglar. maybe she was picked up for prostitution and she was in her dominatrix outfit? and the goggles were in the Batpod? She just put them on over her dominatrix mask. As to how she obtained the batpod maybe Bats gave her the keys and told her about the goggles so she could escape?

They weren't confirmed but the goggles were.

Almost looks like Nolans going for this look, minus the head gear.

This is from a toy also, in case anyone was wondering where it came from.

Right, because Two-Face looked so unlike his comic counterpart?

Honestly, that's what I find the most disappointing about this. Nolan proved that with Ra's and Two-Face and Scarecrow, even The Joker to some extent, he was capable of still retaining the basic elements of the characters' looks to make them identifiable if pointed out blindly. But so far, with Bane and Catwoman? There's hardly any trace of who they are, or at least what they're going for in terms of a gimmick. I cannot look at that picture and say, "Holy crap, Catwoman!" because I'd likely go for Trinity from the Matrix films first.

Nolan has a thing for unfinished scenes, remember Joker crashing the party and just leaving without any casualties...while Bats is lounging outside on a cars roof?
My guess would be that in the next scene Bruce is just chillin' in the batcave zippin' a banana proteinshake.

I remember everyone freaking out like this when the first picture of batman came out from TDK. Calling him robo-bat and such. I would not judge from this first picture. I bet it will translate even better on film.
