I'd say it was on the level of the premiere if not better. Keeping solid action and the acting seemed better in this episode, IMO.

Things continue to get better and interesting. The fight between Green Arrow and China White was awesome. The relationships are forming among the cast and the backstory continues to drive the show. There's a little less voiceover narrative than the pilot.

I havent seen the episode tonight... watching it soon... but tell me, as good of quality as the premiere? better? (didnt read any above posts to avoid any spoilers, so sorry if its be discussed lol)

I really liked the pilot, but I would say that the acting seemed a lot better in this episode, not that it was necessarily bad in the first, just that they seemed comfortable.

His voice overs were much better as well. Action was done well and the flashbacks to the island keep a sense of mystery.

The acting was definitely solid this ep. I do wish though that the fight with China White was longer but hopefully we haven't seen the last of her. A good second episode overall - the island flashbacks are really interesting. Bring on Deadshot next week!

Acting was definitely better. Mainly from Amell who seemed much more relaxed and natural.

I'm quite enjoying the brother-sister and father-daughter relationship dynamic on this show. Want to see how they develop those.

The narration wasn't as distracting as the pilot but they are still unnecessary. Everything Oliver said was going to be conveyed through his actions.

Yeah, I caught that too.

I mean, he will eventually need to get more trick arrows but that name.

Even the whole "I'm not the man you take for a fool" reminded me of the whole spelunking/cave-diving.

Yeah, that guy is going to become a drag soon.

I guess he could be the Alfred/Lucius figure to Ollie. Using his army connections to get weapons and info. Rescuing him when he gets too badly hurt.

I thought tonight was a bit more soap, less SH than last week, but I still enjoyed it.

I have to say...Mama Queen.....this show's Lional Luthor?

Great episode.

I don't know if it's just me, but I really loved the interactions between Laurel and her father, especially during their argument. You could just feel the chemistry between the two, like they really were father and daughter.

I thought it was a symbolic ending. Arrow killing Oliver Queen.

That's actually an interesting look at it. I never of it that way.

Acting was definitely better. Mainly from Amell who seemed much more relaxed and natural.

I think this episode was probably filmed some time after the pilot, so all of the actors probably had some time to really get into their roles. Heck, even Paul Blackthorne and Katie Cassidy, who I thought were just okay in the pilot, were a lot better in this episode.

And I love Stephen Amell's scenes as "Party Oliver". You can tell he really enjoys filming those. :woot:

Is just me, or did his "Arrow" voice sound a bit different? I wonder if Stephen tried something a little bit different, or they did something to it in post.

just watched the second episode... awesome.. i love how it is filmed

I thought the second episode was just ok, with a couple of really nice moments. Amell's acting is still passable, though its clear he's crafting a character, and its nice to see him make a commitment to being Plaboy Oliver Queen. His voiceover work was much better here. I can't tell whether I find his Angry Green Arrow badass or laughable, which is an interesting feeling. The action and arrowplay was fantastic, until it got to the combat with China White, as the actress apparently cannot fight and they had to cut around it. This really isn't a very well written show thus far, with some really clunky dialogue, and they really need to get rid of Dinah's annoying "Starting every one of Dinah's thoughts/sentences" legal friend/s. That, and they need better music.

yea angry GA is a little iffy... but its a start... lots of potential IMO

I thought angry GA was SUPER BADASS. At least he didn't sound like Bale's cookie monster Batman.

This show is goddamn epic btw.

I actually preferred the fight between CW and his bodyguard. I don't know, seemed more exciting.

Probably because we only heard about his background in the pilot, and we actually got to see it in action this episode.

I have to say, he's a pretty competent fighter in his own right.

Overall i like the show, but damn is it distracting how much they're following BB's tone and pacing and scenarios for exposition, music, etc. haha. It's still enjoyable and better quality than most CW shows.

It is BB-ish, especially the pilot. I hope there aren't voice overs in every episode.

That and, it was rather sudden and kind of came out of no where.

There'll be voiceovers as long as he's in this on his own.

I'm liking this show after 2 eps. There's a distinct "Nolan" influence but it's not mimicking it, which is good. Realism works very well for this iteration of Green Arrow, and hopefully it continues. Amell is very interesting to watch as Ollie, I'm really digging his quietness, and I hope that the relationship between him and Diggs develops to a similar "Bruce/Lucius" type relationship. Granted, I'm not a Green Arrow aficionado but the overall tone and execution of this show is very promising, and I hope to see it continue for multiple seasons.

Joining the chorus.

That last scene made me gasp.

Amnell isn't a great actor but he's consistent and everyone else seems to be around the same level so they aren't overshadowing him like Rosenbaum did to everyone else except the Ma and Pa.

Hah, yah....I always thought Rosenbaum overshadowed mostly the entire cast minus Glover, Schneider and O'Toole. What a shame seasons eight, nine and ten were when none of those four actors were there.

Great episode, I noticed that the guy in the NYCC trailer that was dressed in the arrow uniform fighting deathstroke on the island looked different from Amell, just thought it was the stunt double. But apparently its a different character.

Holy crap you're right. I had thought it was Ollie in that scene just training with Deathstroke, but...there could be two figures on that island fighting for Ollie's soul, and in a twist, Ollie could have taken the guide of the original 'Arrow'. And also ironic that the guy who probably won the battle was Deathstroke and he'll be a villain.

CW’s Arrow Might One Day Include Justice League, Producers Tease

Arrow creators Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti might be keeping their superhero world grounded and contained for now, but they don’t plan to have the new CW series stay that way forever.

Tonight we’ll be two episodes deep in Season 1, but already we’ve met or been teased about a good number of characters from the DC Universe. The plan is to have that number increase as the seasons go on, the three executive producers explained in a new interview.

“We’re open to anything and everything; I’m not entirely sure you’ll be seeing characters like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman because they’re much more fantastical and right now we’re focusing on Oliver Queen as being the only hero,” Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter. “That being said, we’re looking forward to bringing on other DC Comics characters and characters that people have never really seen before or lesser-known characters. That’s what’s been fun for us; Superman will always get his due.”

We’ll meet China White in tonight’s episode, and will soon encounter the Huntress, while Kreisberg also promises that Felicity Smoke will enter the Arrow ring further down the road. He goes on to say that he, Berlanti and Guggenheim are “open to bringing the Justice League into the fold in some fashion, even if Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern and company aren’t seen on screen,” THR writes.

“We’ve got a lot of different characters and then there are characters you may not recognize unless you’re a diehard comic book fan,” he said. “One of the things we’ve done, mainly because we’re fans, is we’ve thrown in a lot of Easter eggs for the hardcore fans. If you’re a big fan of the DC Comics universe, you’ll see a lot of familiar names and places: Big Belly Burger, which is a hamburger chain from the Superman comic books makes a regular appearance on our show and we have a Big Belly Burger franchise as one of our standing sets.”

Guggenheim added that fans will still get to hear about characters from beyond Starling City in Arrow, even if they don’t show up. He promised that there are references to places like Corto Maltese and Markovia, and that Metropolis and Gotham City still exist in this world.

“I would listen and watch carefully if you’re a comic book fan because some of the references are really subtle and will go past a lot of people,” he teased.

Berlanti added, “When we bring characters from the DC universe into the show, we’re careful about doing it right and having a reason to and not just doing it to say because we can bring in a specific character. As time goes on, hopefully we’ll do some of the biggies.”

Shall be an interesting ride.
