I like this show very much. I don't mind the Nolan Batman vibe at all. It will be interesting to see what happens after Oliver finishes the list, assuming that the show is successful. How will Oliver reach the decision to continue being The Arrow after his original goal is achieved?

at the end, is that symbolically Arrow killing Oliver? A different guy on the island who wears the same outfit?
Maybe both?

Good 2nd episode, but it's time for the show to move forward from the Batman Begins mold and forge its own identity, imo. The Hamlet subplot is a nice start, but the episode overall still felt like it wasn't treading any new ground yet. I was really expecting this episode to introduce elements that would be unique to Arrow and take it in a direction that would differentiate it from BB in some way, but I don't think it did (other than in flashback). I don't mind the show starting the same way as BB since the characters are so similar anyway, but BB got through this stuff in two hours, and we've had about 2 hours of Arrow now, so hopefully we'll start seeing something less predictable soon.

We're two episodes in. The show's going to need to learn to walk before it can run.

Thought the second episode was better then the first. Excited to see Deathstroke.

Easy, he deciedes that the city still needs a protector since there are other evils than the people on his list.

I thought it was a symbolic ending. Arrow killing Oliver Queen.

Im loving this show. at the end, is that symbolically Arrow killing Oliver? A different guy on the island who wears the same outfit? Or deathstroke?

Can't be Deathstroke. Can't be a symbolism. The NYCC reel has him fighting Deathstroke while 'stroke tortues Mr. Queen.

The acting was definitely solid this ep. I do wish though that the fight with China White was longer but hopefully we haven't seen the last of her. A good second episode overall - the island flashbacks are really interesting. Bring on Deadshot next week!

I think China White is coming back. The stunt guy Bamford I think, tweeted a while ago how he loves it when he teaches Kelly Hu how to do something and she does it, it seemed like a really random tweet at the time so I'm guessing she was on set again.

Sure, but do you think he will go through the typical "hero thinks he can have a normal life but then an evemt causes him to take up the mantle once again" thing?

He'll probably find an evil greater than any of those on the list to fight. I'd actually like to see a moment where he has to choose to differentiate from his father's vengeance quest for the greater good.

Last night's episode was a lot better than last week's. I still have some issues with the show, but at least there's been some improvement.

(Preface: I'm not a comic reader so I know virtually nothing about the character - coming into this as someone who enjoyed watching Smallville and figured I'd give this one a shot as well)

I enjoyed both the pilot and this 2nd episode (the 2nd ep a little bit more than the 1st). The voice over/narration continues to be a bit grating to me. It feels, to me, a little demeaning to the viewers, like they feel the need to tell us what's happening instead of showing us/letting the visuals speak for themselves. But maybe that's just me. I hope the voice overs decrease at least somewhat.

I really REALLY liked his bodyguard in this recent episode, he got to kick some serious ass. [BLACKOUT]I'm thinking he might figure out Ollie's secret on his own? He's definitely having suspicions of some sort that lead me to think he knows Ollie is lying about things[/BLACKOUT]

I want to slap his sister silly. It feels like she's all "me, me, me" "I didn't have anyone to talk to for 5 years" "I was alone because you & dad were dead and mom was screwed up", etc... I mean, Ollie's been back what, a week? A month? Chick - give him some TIME.

Anywho... looking forward to continuing to watch the series and learn more about what happened on the island :)

I also know next to nothing about this character except what I've seen in cartoons. So far the show has been good. The actor that plays Oliver has a somewhat wimpy voice and tends to be a bit stiff.

I'm surprised at how similar Green Arrow is to Batman. Both are ultra rich, white guys, have lost family, and have an endless supply of toys to fight crime with. Is there anything that separates them more than the use of weapons and crime fighting outfit?

My other question is why is the sister called Speedy? In the Young Justice cartoon that was the name of his first side-kick who was a guy named Roy.

I hope this show does well. I am looking forward to learning what happened to Oliver on the island for five years.

Tried to watch last night's episode. Fell asleep about 10 mins in. Boring as all hell and the dialog is stilted as ****. That first meeting with Black Canary in the courthouse was just painfully bad.. It's like neither of them knew what emotion should be going on in the scene, then there's this stilted dialogue till she remembers that Oliver told her not to talk to him ... which she says, then walks away.

Next thing I remember is the security guard fighting China White, which was the end.

Anyone else notice the massive piles of pancake makeup underneath that Black Canary's eyes? She looks all baggy and has crows feet like crazy. Shoulda casted younger, or they cast her and then she hit the wall that quickly. Either way it's a bit distracting.

I watched the premiere with fairly low expectations and I was blown away, I thought they did a damn good job and I enjoyed it. So for the 2nd episode I went in with the expectations that the episode would be as good as the first and it blew those out the water.

I'm so glad to say that the show is actually pretty decent and I look forward to the rest of the season. I have to say that the whole story draws you in so well and the balance between the island and the present is great. I'm always glued to the screen when the island comes up because I want to know what happened there.

Here's to a long life for Arrow!

I didn't notice that at all. It's also "Cast" not "Casted."

Roy Harper is the first Speedy. The second Speedy is Mia Dearden who they made Oliver's sister in the show.

Green Arrow is very left wing which is a big difference to Batman. Green Arrow also kills occasionally which something Batman doesn't.

I still dont know what to make of this show. I know were only 2 episodes in and I'm def going to watch it through, but im finding the script writing bad and corny. Am I the only one who thinks this? Everyone else seems to think its on to a winner. Dont get me wrong I really want it to be a winner too but I think its struggling to get to the bones of how he went from play boy billionaire to Green Arrow and why he has this list of people. I dont know If I have missed something or what. Hopefully next weeks episode will shed some light.
:/

Since they seem to be making a big deal I would think it is a comic character. Maybe a new take on count vertigo, which I would be fine. I think vertigo needs to be overhauled anyways like some of the cartoons have done.

I don't know much about Green Arrow and his enemies but I looked them up on wiki, and they seem pretty interesting. Showcasing Vertigo's power on this show could be really cool to see if you ask me.

You guys should read the latest Arrow #2 (Digital Chapter) on Comixology that went live today. You'll get more clues towards the answers you want. 99c only.

Interesting, gonna check it out.

On another note, I really liked the second episode. His fight with China White was pretty weak though and I hated that they used the same take but from two different angles.
The last flashback was really something.

Katie Cassidy is flawless in every way!

Yeah, I mentioned as much in my previous post. The dialog is pretty bad, nobody seems to know the tone of the scene they should be playing, etc. Like the long conversation with Oliver and Black Canary in the courthouse towards the opening where it took her the whole conversation to remember that she doesn't want to talk to him.

But whatever, that Black Canary chick is old and ugly anyways. You seen those crows feet and puffy eyes? I hope they recast her, she easily looks 10 years older than the rest of the cast who should be her contemporaries.

How many episodes is Arrow currently having this season?

She is 25...Stephen is 31. Hardly old.

She looks old, I said "looks old" in the same post you just quoted. The crows feet, bags under the eyes and cracking pancake makup ... oh sometimes HD is a curse makes her look old.
