I hated The Cape at first, but when I realized how silly it was, while being advertised as something serious, I went along for the ride and grew to love it. I mean, how can you not laugh at this...

I wonder if Arrow will have a central villain at some point or just be one villain per episode type of thing.

My guess is that there will be a Big Bad for each season. At the moment, my guess is that for the first season, it will be [blackout]his mother[/blackout]*.

P.S.: Goddammit, that sounds like the punchline of a bad joke. :(

Yeah, but she doesn't really come off as a strong one thus far. At least not like Lionel Luthor was on Smallville. And John Glover was just too awesome.

To be fair, we haven't really seen much of her. After all, it's only been one episode - an episode that was more focused on setting up the protagonist's back story/origin and motivation rather than shed light on the greater conspiracy.

I'd say that's the best way to do it. I'm really loving this show right now, but my only nit pick is, I feel his bow is a tad on the small side.

Maybe it's because I never read GA comics, but I just watched the sizzle reel and....is this anything else but a lower-budgeted Batman Begins TV show with CW-styled writing and acting?

Yep. It also has Punisher-level kill counts. ;)

You know people say that they see a lot of Batman Begins, or just Batman in the show. First of all you do know that Green Arrow was a Batman rip off in the first place. DC ripped their own character when the created GA. So of course there will be Batman type moments.

As far as the Batman Begins-lite goes, I only see 1 thing similar and that's Dinah working as a lawyer that's it. Everything else is basically what happened in the books (minus the mother, sister and his best friend being his arch enemy (that one is more Smallville)).

Ollie fights the corrupt, the wealthy that abuse their power. And when he did come back home from the island he did have getting what happened to his parents on his mind first while cleaning up his city. (Again Batman rip off this is what they did in the comics too)
So I don't really see this as a Batman Begins lite show, I actually didn't even think about Batman Begins until I came on to the forums. I saw this 1 episode as what it was the story of Oliver Queen.

True, but I still feel Glover set the bar pretty high as far as villainy and acting the role went.

Also digging the island gear more than the regular costume. I just like him more without the sleeves.

Do you think that with the new show DC will again change Green Arrows costume?

for some reason it keeps going back and forth from showing the picture I loaded and not showing it. I hope it shows.

They changed it before because of Smallville:

I think they'll probably change it every few seasons or even every season. It's as inevitable as superheroes changing costumes every movie. It comes with the evolution of the character. We may see more advanced costumes and versions that depend on the season (who wears a leather jacket in August?). I'm pretty excited about that. I'm really partial to this look.

Oliver decides to help Laurel to prove the innocence of a man called Peter Declan, who is being framed by one of Arrow's targets. Meanwhile, Steele has one of his employees, Felicity Smoak, investigate a suspicious money withdrawl that Moira made without his consent.

5. Damaged (November 5, 2012).

7. Muse of Fire.
Arrow meets Helena Bertinelli, daughter of mobster Frank Bertinelli, who has adopted the identity of Huntress to destroy her father's criminal empire. They decide to join forces, but slowly realize they have conflicting viewpoints.

8. Vendetta.

9. Year's End.
Plot Unknown.

10. TBA.
Arrow confronts Garfield Lynns, a horribly scarred former firefighter who wants revenge against the man he blames for his life being ruined, the current Chief of the Starling City Fire Department.

I guess I thought the performance was based on him coming off of being stranded on an Island for 5 years. Given that he was alone/tortured I would think anyone would be giving a cold vibe to those around him. So maybe it was intentional.. or just poor acting.

He's not a great actor, and his voicework needs...work, but I think some of that coldness/stiffness is very intentional. There's a sort of a clipped "social awkwardness" to Oliver upon his return, and he's much smoother as Green Arrow, and a lot looser as "Public Oliver Queen".

Not a fan of the new Firefly origin but I'm still looking forward to what they do with him. The Huntress episode has me curious because that might be the turning point for Arrow when he decides he doesn't want to kill. Not sure what else would differentiate them. Deathstroke has me the most excited, though. I know myself and a lot of people here called it on that exact story.

Y'know, I'm continually befuddled by those arguing that Arrow is ripping off Batman. If anything, their origins, goals and methodology are completely opposite to one another:

Bruce becomes Batman to avenge the deaths of his parents.
Ollie becomes Arrow to make up for his father's misdeeds.

Batman goes after all criminals, intending to wipe out all crime - a non-specific goal.
Arrow has a 'hit-list', so to speak - a very specific goal.

Batman goes to great lengths not to kill anyone, even his archenemies and villains who probably deserve death.
Arrow is willing to kill anyone who so much as gets in his way.

I really disliked the smallville look, especially the costume. The new Arrow ones look surprisingly okay. It seems like they are willing to explore different costumes though from what they showed in the reel, even if it's only part of the flashback.

And I also agree that they did screwed with Drakon, who could have been any henchman of the week. I really liked that story in the comics, hope he comes back in a different way.

I really wanna see who this Well-dressed man is.

You and me both. I'm hoping that wasn't Constantine Drakon but some sort of close relative. Screw what IMDB says. A fanboy can hope.

...Head of security. Yeah, 'cause Drakon needs help.

Since they seem to be making a big deal I would think it is a comic character. Maybe a new take on count vertigo, which I would be fine. I think vertigo needs to be overhauled anyways like some of the cartoons have done.

In terms of popular green arrow villains we have vertigo, onomatopoeia, brick, and merlyn (which is tommy but who knows what his father is up to) that there is no word on.

At the rate they are going with dc characters I would be fine if they held off on those ones for a bit.

Can't wait for Deadshot, Deathstroke, and Huntress.

Very interesting that Deathstroke is the one who trained Ollie. That's cool.
