Hans Zimmer Scoring The Man of Steel - Part 2

Small music review: Just got back home from seeing this. No spoilers of the movie, but putting in spoiler tags just in case:

The music was awesome of course and totally matched the style of the movie. There is still only the three recurring themes that I heard throughout the samples and songs we already have. So no actual theme just like Nolan's Batman movie had no real theme. If Molossus is considered the closest thing to a theme in TDK Trilogy then I would say either the trailer music or the theme you hear at the end of the I Will Find Him sample is the theme. Or at least the ending of I Will Find Him sample is the thing I keep humming to myself after seeing the movie.

Now I can't wait for this to leak even more!!!

Knowing Zimmer, I don't think there will be an official theme. There will be several tracks heard throughout the movie. But right now, if I had to "choose" what I think could be or at least should be the theme, it would be "Flight" or the music played in trailer 3.

The latter being more probable.

But Zimmer's norm isn't to NOT do themes, quite the contrary.

I hear plenty of recurring and recognizable music in the score-snippets, so I dont get this. I guess I have to see the movie to get it.

I guess he means there's no 1 theme for Superman himself.

I hear 2 heroic themes on the soundtrack, but yeah, they might not be utilized in that way in the movie.

I'm thinking the "Flight" track is exclusive to his first flight sequence. I do hear another heroic theme, though. But I think the trailer music is Supes' theme.

Yeah, FLIGHT and AN IDEAL OF HOPE sound like Superman-themes to me when they kick into gear.

Regardless, I wish people wouldn't attribute everything to the composer. It's clear to me Nolan didn't want a theme for Batman and asked Zimmer to do what he had in mind. Snyder will do the same. The Kung Fu Panda director did the same. Ridley Scott, too.

It's not like the composers just pull the approach out of their butts and go with it. They (like the other artists involved in a movie) follow the director's vision.

I just watched the 13 minute featurette and towards the end there is a symphonic/solo violin version of "Flight" it actually sounds pretty emotional. The more tv spots I see and clips, etc -- I am hearing "Flight" quite a bit.

I admit the score from what I heard in the movie was of course epic, but I need to hear it in its full like now! So much action in the movie that it was hard to focus on the music at times so I like to hear it in its full.

Flight is his first flight in the movie. It happens right after the line Jor-El delivers where he says, "You have grown more powerful than I could ever imagine. The only way to know how powerful is to keep testing your limits." (not sure if this is the exact quote). The first half of Flight or Flight Part 1 is him doing more of super leaps and when the music picks up he does on big giant leap and keeps soaring into the air, but eventually he crash lands back down to earth. Flight Part 2 he bends down like he does in the trailer and give one big leap and finally starts flying as he is finally able to start flying higher and horizontally. A very powerful scene and it looked amazing! I think the reason Clark even tried to fly is because Jor-El told him that his cells soak up the yellow sun and makes him lighter than earth's gravity.

As for the trailer music I could have been just overwhelmed by the action, but I didn't hear that theme used as much in the movie.

If a product Amazon carries sells out of its initial batch before release they push the dates back to the estimate time of arrival of the second batch they will receive. I would assume it is pushed back a month because that album actually sold out on Amazon. Or you are in a country where the release date is a lot later.

It also depends on if it's from Amazon or a reseller. They will give a very large window if it isn't themselves selling it since they can guarantee nothing.
