Let's just say I was far from blown away by his performance. Serviceable at best.

dude was perfect. are we sure he's actually british and didn't actually land in kansas as a child?

Ha ha that reminds me how funny was it when he tried to reassure Swanwick that he wasn't a threat cause he was from Kansas?! :woot:

"Krypton had its chance" is one of the best Superman lines I've ever heard/read.

I need to see the movie again, but I am serious. If anything, not so much him as the script. He definitely LOOKED the part.
Mostly the script, believe me. :cwink: Although I'm glad they pushed him emotionally. He did really good nonverbal acting with what he was given.

Now bring on Lex and emotionally-wrenching political shenanigans in the sequel! :awesome:

Where was the charm and smiling and all that stuff? I mean I understand he might not have time for it with the situation, but whatever. He pulled off the anger/rage of Superman but the charm I did not see. Overall his performance was good. I don't know if he was better than Routh though. Routh had some charm but no anger. If we could combine the two things they both lacked, you know.

Cavill is the man. Looked the part, had an impeccable Midwest accent, and he acted the part. And he looked really good without a shirt on.

And am I the only one who thought Cavill looked a bit like Tom Welling in the Smallville-set scenes? I don't know if Snyder was tipping his hat to the TV series intentionally or not, but I think it was.

Did we see the same movie? The cave, the interrogation room, the corn field??????? did you miss those parts?

Clark oozed charm in this film. Now all I need is a scene where he bends over in those pants in the bar scene, and I will be a happy, happy fangirl

If you are talking about the scene with the drone i did think that whole scene felt pretty forced.

The others i agree with however.

:funny: Don't give me those naughty thoughts...

Seriously though, I saw plenty of charm. Kelly already pointed to some key scenes in the film. I saw as much smiling as their needed to be and reject the idea that he was playing anything but the Superman I know and love. I loved the fact that this Superman was strong and angry when he needed to be. Seeing Superman unleashed in live action fullfilled a life long dream of mine.

Yeah. Cavill showed the intensity, calmness, shyness, and soulfulness of the character. I'd even say that he wasn't too far off from Reeve, though we've yet to see his reporter persona at work.

I always disliked Reeve's reporter persona. It was just too cartoony of a performance for my taste so I could never get into it. He is a phenomenal Superman though so whatever, the movie came out during a different time.

Henry was Superman as far as I'm concerned. The charisma and likableness were all there and he did an incredible job in terms of communicating with his eyes.

His Superman performance was strong to the point where I felt his brief stint as report Clark was hindered due to him being so much like Superman. That's literally my only complaint from his performance. That he strolled into the Daily Planet with the same bravado and grace as Superman and personally I think the reporter Kent persona should be almost the exact opposite. That's what sells it to me that people genuinely would never think that he's Superman.

Also Anita mentioned this the other day but I absolutely loved how Henry actually made the younger Clark (during the Tornado scene) voice a lot more nasally and high pitched.

Yeah he practically was Superman dressed up as Clark Kent instead of donning as the persona. We didn't really see the mild-mannered take yet. I did notice that his sports coat did look larger than him, so I wonder if they'll carry on the tradition of Clark wearing clothes a few sizes larger than him to throw everyone off. Could just be nothing.

And it's probably just me, but I was amazed that he looked pretty different with the glasses on. Enough that he would just need apply the persona to pull it off. They chose an excellent pair. :funny:

Wasn't too brief for me. He walked, talked , and acted the same, just with glasses on. I'm sorry but I wanted to see him at least trip one time. Call me old school but that is why the S curl is important

If you guys think that he is going to copy that cartoony Kent performance from the Donner films if a sequel happens I think you are going to be very disappointed.

that Superman/clark is dead:oldrazz:

His DP Clark Kent performance was too brief for me to evaluate it.

Yeah, he was DP Clark for 30 to 45 seconds. Not enough to engage how it will be. It was done to set him up as a reporter and to answer Martha's question.

I thought Cavill did a fine job.
