that suit did no favors to Brandon tbh. It was as if the suit was made and then they cast Routh, not the other way around.

I could agree with that. Never in my life have I been so disappointed when I saw the first released photo of Routh in the suit. I didn't know whether to laugh my ace off or cry myself to sleep with the let-down. Routh just didn't have a good look for me but what I DID like was his voice. He had a nice Reeve-voice, which was eerie. But anyway, don't want to get too off track since this is the Cavill thread.

I think the suit looked bad because of the lack of musculature pads under it. It had no muscle definition and it looked like pajamas.

The suit? No, the body. Routh didn't have a Superman physique.

But it was a terrible suit all the same.

I think Routh's physique was actually okay. He's a big dude. But that suit looked like a rejected design from those Tim Story Fantastic Four movies.

Yeah, if you look at the behind the scenes features from SR you'll see that he was in great shape. His swimmer physique just didn't match well with the style of the suit (lets make EVERYTHING smaller on the suit) but tbf I'm not sure anyone would have pulled that suit off given the horrible dimensions it had.

All the cape porn in the movie would have been 100 times better if the movie wasnt so desaturated. That first gif is so beautiful, it reminds me of Thor's beautiful cape. And i never made that connection because we've never seen Cavill's cape so red.
Well I don't know you but the one great thing that I saw in the movie was the cape being majestic and it had the beautiful color red, I didn't want to see a cartonish red at all. The cape color was fine IMO.

agreed... the suit and movie overall will benefit more without the grey filter

I agree, but I think it's because of how the downward force changes Cavill's features rather than a CGI attempt to make him resemble Reeves, which I remember was discussed when the movie was released.

Despite the fact that they have similar features to begin with the world engine's effect hollowed Cavill's cheeks out and gave him a curved nose...a lot like how Reeves looked.

That and the hair in this scene. I think it was intentional and nice.

It was only heroic because Christopher Reeve's Superman showed up to remind us all what a true hero is. ;)

Lol, indeed. I actually don't believe Reeve showed up in that scene at all. Cavill's face was just being warped by the WE.

Yeah, I think it's just a coincidence that he looked like Reeve there.

^ Most Superman actors are made up to look a very specific way. So, I wouldn't really call it a coincidence. Reeve and Cavill both have brown hair (dyed black), blue eyes and prominent jawlines. They don't share the same type of hairline, though; and Reeve had what some might call "finer features". For example, his nose was very narrow. The rest of the similarity can be attributed to, as DeadPresident aptly put it, "the world engine's effect hollowing Cavill's cheeks out" to some extent.

Hey guys I have a picture taken from the set of Superman.
Question though I have been a member here for so long, but I never posted a picture how do I go about doing that?

New photo. Safe to say, we're getting some S-curls:word:

^ Yes! I want some curls. Let his hair be free!

Did you look at the behind the scenes. Routh was a big dude. Some of the costumes test really showed it off. The issue was the suit. The small S elongated his chest so it made his biceps look small. The collar going up to his next did the same thing.

I mean hell the suit on the dummy has the same damn problem. It's not the man. Cavil would look small in it.

Then the material rendered all the training moot because it constricted the muscle.

But put Routh next to a person, he seem to grow 2 sizes.

Now man of still though corrected all these issues.

The S is gigantic and made his chest seem huge by making him seem stockier. There is no color and the cape connects and sits on the same level which squares up his torso. They did this for all the Kryptonian suits.

Then the biggest thing is they followed the Spider-man route. The padded the suit but padded it in a way that seemed to naturally follow the curves of the actors body. It also has better textures that help bring out all that definition.

Honestly it is the Raimi Spider-man suit in Man of steel form. All that definition is not seen in the Webb version but it get's a pass because people like lanky Spider-man. But even when Maguire wasn't as big he still made the suit work because of the built in definition.

If Routh had the damn suit ...................

And we are also seeing the same philosophy in the Batman suit. Though I think they are being a tad bit more subtle.

But overall they have nearly touched perfection and they are working out the kinks.
