Henry Cavill poised to scale 'Great Wall'
'Man of Steel' star in talks with Legendary for Zwick pic
By Justin Kroll
With production on "Man of Steel" wrapping up, Henry Cavill is eyeing his first post-Superman pic. Thesp is in negotiations to star in Legendary East's "The Great Wall."
Pic will be helmed by Edward Zwick, from a script by Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.
Story looks at the mystery behind how China's Great Wall was constructed from a story conceived by Legendary Pictures chairman Thomas Tull and Max Brooks. Legendary had no comment on the casting.
Pic will be produced by Zwick, Herskovitz, Tull and Legendary's Jon Jashni along with Atlas Entertainment's Alex Gartner and Chuck Roven.
The pic is the first to come from the banner launched in June by Tull and Asian investors, with the goal of producing one or two event films a year.
"Great Wall" is a co-production of Legendary East and Huayi Brothers, which will distribute the pic in China. A domestic distrib has not been set.
Cavill was best been known for his role on Showtime's "The Tudors" before landing the coveted "Man of Steel" lead.
Besides "Man of Steel," the CAA-repped Cavill also has some heat from his starring role in Relativity's "Immortals" which has grossed more than $200 million worldwide.
I think the group of people working on it (Snyder, Nolan, Goyer) is enough to ensure it will at the very least have some very good moments. The cast is very good too, pretty good actors through and through. 1 problem for me though, I have no idea who Henry Cavill is. I have never heard of him before and from his resume he hasnt done much. Who has seen this guy in action somewhere and can give me a good place to start ? I wanna see his actingthe movie after MOS will show if Cavill is as smart as Pine and Craig .
of course a lot will change if MOS is a big hit or a bomb.

Pine, as in Chris Pine? That was probably my most favorite breakout role in recent time and I was convinced he would blow up in Hollywood -- but fella hasn't done jack with the momentum from Star Trek. He had a supporting role in that "runaway train Denzel movie" (as everyone calls it), and a rom-com which isn't even out yet.the movie after MOS will show if Cavill is as smart as Pine and Craig .

Or a Lindsay Lohan movie where they Photoshopped a paparazzi pic and slapped it on the poster.I never would have guessed anyone in Hellworld would go onto bigger and better things.
Well, that seems partially by choice. Right in the midst of his Star Trek success in '09, when he could have had his pick of Hollywood lead roles, he instead opted to do play (Farragut North, which is what Clooney's The Ides of March was based on) for several months. Then he did another play in 2010. Maybe he's just one of those actors who's less interested in having a gigantic career than having a diverse one.Pine, as in Chris Pine? For a guy that has the looks, charisma, youth, and talent -- that's incredibly lackluster. I hope he has new agents, because the ones he was with dropped the ball big time.
he was in Blood Creek and Hellraiser 8 I think was the one
there is no formula to know which big blockbuster movie will be a hit and which a bomb. why should he risk being in a disaster bomb? what if he was in Green Lantern?Pine, as in Chris Pine? Ah, well glad he was doing something in the meantime. Perhaps you're right and he prefers to be low-key. But starring in a rom-com isn't exactly indicative of that. We'll see where he goes. He could have a very slow rise to stardom, ala Ryan Gosling.Well, that seems partially by choice. I'm not sure what point you're making by bringing him up then. His only big move was joining up in Star Trek. He's done nothing significant for his career since then. How is that "smart"? Would he also be smarter by never doing a movie role ever again, thereby never exposing a risk in failure?there is no formula to know which big blockbuster movie will be a hit and which a bomb. why should he risk being in a disaster bomb? what if he was in Green Lantern?
"Hellraiser 8" lol
Luckily our boy has hit it big with MOS. I really hope he has a nice long career. Love the guy so much.
