We get it, you hate Nolan.

You don't need to type out another forty non pertinent posts.

I never said I hated Nolan ? If you dont like my thoughts block me ? Or just learn 2 ignore me ?

But the thing is the wormholes wouldn't change. This was something he wanted to add. He specifically told he wrote something in which

one character would travel faster than light

I would like to know what would be the purpose. What role it would have in the actions of the film.

Me curious too. Given that the film endeavors to be as realistic as possible, FTL seems like an odd foray into the fantastic/impossible.

Also - although faster than light sounds sexy, it’s really nonsensical. From the perspective of a spaceship travelling at exactly the speed of light (if such a thing were possible), the length of the Universe would contract to zero and (necessarily) the trip would take zero time. Thus, travelling “faster” than instantaneous is somewhat pointless. :word:

The Academy hates scifi.

2001, Aien, Blade Runner, The Terminator, The Dark Knight ...none were nominated.
Avatar received plenty of awards recognition. District 9 got a bit of love as well.

Avengers 2 or Star Wars could win it next year.

Searching on Google The Avengers did win it in 2013. Twilight: Breaking Dawn won it in 2012. Catching Fire won it in 2014. I guess it could go either way after seeing the past results

I don't know what your thoughts are on previous Nolan films or if you hate Nolan, but you've clearly had it in for Interstellar well before it was released so your recent comments are unsurprising.

Avatar, District 9, Gravity...:BA

The critics might not be in love with it, but the folks in the business seem to enjoy it; most notably the directors. Best directing nom is still hopeful.

The Avengers wasn't up against a YA/teen movie like Hunger Games or Twilight at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. Those movies will always win out at the MTV popularity contests because girls vote online furiously in favor for them.

Again I have never said I hated Nolan & since this is the Interstellar thread I mostly try keeping things on topic & this movie is clearly not for everyone. Are people not allowed 2 not like / love Nolan movies on here ?

Gravity isn't exactly scifi. It just takes place in space.

Avatar and District 9 are exceptions.

Thankfully and rightfully, film critics don't get to vote and are not Academy members.

And Interstellar isn't on par with them, at least to most. I'm still hopeful for Nolan to get the solo directing nom.

I've seen most films this year and still hard to beat Boyhood.

Be careful with what you say about a Nolan movie in here & Avatar is an exception as a Sci-Fi Movie really ? Thats like saying Star Wars & Star Trek are not Sci-Fi

Finally got to see the movie over the weekend and not quite sure what I'd rate it. It was epic and visually awesome, but like Nolan's other movies, I didn't really connect with it, not sure why. There were a couple things that I found really annoying like the loud music (why does Nolan have to keep doing that?!) and the same damn fixated angle on the spaceship in space. I also had to suspend way too much disbelief that [blackout]Cooper wouldn't have been disintegrated in the black hole, and that he conveniently popped back out near Saturn[/blackout]. And for all of the movie's ambition I found that it played it way too safe in terms of the ending with a horrible cliché ([blackout]leading character survives the impossible and has to get back out to reconnect with a supporting character[/blackout]).

And Topher Grace took me waaaaay out of the movie when he appeared, and in every scene that he was in. I couldn't buy his character at all. How the heck did he get a part in this movie when he's not known at all for serious dramatic roles?

I gave this a 7/10. I'd still nominate Nolan for director.

Come at me. :o

I'd place Interstellar above Avatar, Gravity, and District 9 in most categories. Better acting, better CGI, better practical effects, better score, better screenplay.

Gravity has better editing, all three have better sound mixing.

I would give this movie the tech awards at the very least. The score is also good. But would the way its edited in the movie hurt its chances ? See guys I dont hate everything about this movie. But as stated its not a movie for everyone

The deluxe digital soundtrack has leaked and the docking track is not included. A damn shame.

Supposedly the name of the track in The Docking Scene score is apparently called Imperfect Lock & it is on the iTunes Deluxe Edition of the score. Time will tell if this is accurate

Avatar, District 9, Gravity were all apology nominations in my opinion.

If Interstellar isn't nominated I am going to boycott the academy. :cmad:

Even if they did. I still probably won't watch it. I haven't watched the academy "ego gratification" awards since 2010. :o

I still have ill will due to The Dark Knight brouhaha :cmad:
