Keaton's portrayal of Bruce's darkness and isolation is one of the reasons I prefer the Bruce/Keaton of Batman 89'
Agreed, Keaton did an amazing job.
t:Bale might very well carry that same kind of isolation in TDKR. His life was more or less ruined in TDK.Keaton's portrayal of Bruce's darkness and isolation is one of the reasons I prefer the Bruce/Keaton of Batman 89'

He's gonna be a young Hugo Strange.
Or maybe a slimmed down Penguin
I hope so, I think some of the roots of "Knightfall" (if theyre going that route) were planted in by the end of Dark Knight, i.e. Rachel dies, Bruce is drained physically and emotionally, Gotham is most likely turning on him, etc.
A more tormented and depressed Bruce would be great IMO, something we really havent seen before.
I'm really hoping thats the case Yurka.
Thats one thing I really liked about Batman 89 the pure isolated nature of Wayne. He was an incredibly lonely man basically rendering Wayne as a waiting room for when Batman needed to actually come out and take care of business.
Definitely think TDK like you pointed out paved the way for that version of Wayne.
But you're not seeing the goldmine of dramatic potential before our eyes.
You've adressed it yourself, "who will fear the Falcone name now?" Thats ripe for exploration. Imagine Alberto Falcone, depicted as he is in the comics. Weak, indecisive, but loyal to the family. Now imagine him trying to pick up the pieces of his family's legacy - Desperately trying to keep the Falcone family from becoming irrelevant, even though the world of crime is a world he was never really built for.
If you thought the mob was desperate in TDK, it will be interesting to see what they are capable (or incapable) of with a misguided and extremely challeneged Alberto behind the reins.
To me, finishing the story with the Falcone empire in ruins is far more interesting and relevant to Nolan's overarching storyline than simply introducing a brand new mob boss, when the movie is already packed with enough "freaks" as it is.
Meanwhile, Bane...I agree. Desperate men resort to desperate measures, and if Alberto Falcone was desperate enough to try and regain the fear and respect his family once commanded in Gotham, there's no telling what he may do in order to achieve that goal. Maybe he kills Juno Temple's character in order to send the message that the Falcones are back in business, which kick starts Selina Kyle into becoming Catwoman who is out for revenge and his blood. Batman could then stop Catwoman from killing Alberto saying that killing him would make her no better than Alberto himself or something like that. There would be the parallel between Catwoman and Harvey Dent (Two vigilantes out for revenge, Batman would have saved Catwoman where he failed Dent, etc) Justice would be served (through the courts with Falcone incarcerated), Batman could be shown to be the hero Gotham needs and so on and so forth.
Disappoints everyones expectations by being given the same treatment that Scarecrow received during Batman Begins whilst Catwoman retains all the focus.Meanwhile, Bane...

I doubt Catwoman will get all the focus, she'll be like Harvey, the emotional backbone, whereas Bane is the 'unstoppable force'
I was joking. All bets are off on how any of the characters will be handled in TDKR, imo. We should stop making assumptions that a certain character will steal the show, you're probably just setting yourself up for disappointment, especially when this is the finale and the "escalation" could very possibly introduce a number of classic rogues in unannounced albeit small roles. Whilst I prefer it not be the case, Bane is no exception, especially when you consider how quickly and effortlessly he was seemingly casted, at least from interpreting what we know.I doubt Catwoman will get all the focus, she'll be like Harvey, the emotional backbone, whereas Bane is the 'unstoppable force'
