Talia Al Ghul is very much up in the air though.

I can't believe that we have been stressing for months on who JGL is going to play.... and its a made up character.

I can't remember if I was talking about Tom Hardy or Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the time, but I remember saying at one point, "They're not going to hire an actor of his calibre to play Cop #3."

Hahahaha.

I think it does make sense, though. As far as new comic characters in the narrative go, Bane and Catwoman is probably plenty.

One thing that irks me is the argument people have been bringing up that there's something more to JGL's and Cotillard's roles, because they're stars and wouldn't take supporting roles like those. Well, not every star is the kind to mandate that they take the lead role or they walk. Sam Jackson went to George Lucas and asked to be a masked Stormtrooper in the prequels. George Clooney has been on South Park playing a dog with no lines other than barking sounds. I know there are other examples of actors just wanting to be a part of project and not caring about the size of a role.

Nolan strikes me as the kind of director, and his trilogy strikes me as the kind of prestigious project, that anyone (especially former collaborators of his) would jump at the chance to take anything in this movie. I know I would do it.

Liam Neeson was announced as playing Henri Ducard for Batman Begins. Not saying John Blake will be the same situation but Nolan does enjoy throwing twists and turns in so people shouldn't be so quick to write off John Blake as a character that won't have any major significance to the plot.

I think that is far more likely with Marion's role that she might (might being the operative word) turn out to be Talia but that's only based on the plot synopsis that was "confirmed" by Jett. I hope it doesn't happen and I imagine as we get closer to the release date things become will clearer.

I imagine that the police (the anti batman task force in particular) will play a pretty big role in this movie probably as a secondary antagonist to Bane's primary. I imagine that John Blake would play a big role in that task force perhaps as a Javert like character though his status as a beat cop doesn't really lend itself to that. I imagine that he will be either very anti batman or Gordon's confidant. Perhaps starting out as one and as the film progresses moving on to the other.

The entire synopsis including Talia seems pretty unlikely at this point.

Well... if he's a cop chasing Batman, then he is an atagonist to the main character. If it's a big cop chase sequence.. then it'd be easy for insiders to interpret it as him sewing chaos, since he's attacking Batman in the streets. And it's still very possible that he's a cop chasing Batman, because he's in league with Bane and Talia. Not saying that's how it's going to go down, but it's still a possibility.

I don't know if I can take a year and three months of Tate is Talia speculation ****. It amounts to nothing until I see the film. Now personally, I think she's just Tate, but who cares if I'm wrong or not. I will take the offical press release as fact.

I know however it was Jett that said that the plot synopsis was true. Now that leads to the idea that the plot description has some sort of weight. However since Jett was wrong about Black Mask and Falcone I'm hoping that he is incorrect about this too since he said both "confirmations" with a strong conviction.
