^He's still posting, so she hasn't murdered him for putting his foot in his mouth yet. :o

once again I have just entered an interracial relationship with a white girl, this is the first time I haven't cared about how others look at who I'm with and I don't know if I'm growing out of the attitude or if she is just "that girl" should be interesting to see how it develops I have already communicated my silliness to her and she is working through it with me...

Well, as a person who is the product of a German and Cuban/Black mixed heritage, I'm glad you are at the point where it's no longer an issue for you. We need more people like that because basically the survival of the human race depends on it. I'm so glad my parents didn't care what others thought in the 60's and 70's or else I wouldn't be here today.

That's crazy to me. Back when I was living in the Bronx, black and Spanish people dated each other like crazy and everybody was cool w/ it. All the old Hispanic parents were quite welcoming and nice

Really? In my burrough it was a problem--especially in certain pockets of the city. Puerto Ricans and Blacks get along well, but many Mexicans look down on Puerto Ricans (and vise versa) because they consider themselves closer to white, with Ricans being the "gers" of the Hispanic culture.

Which to me is ridiculous because they all speak the same language and talk about your azz right in front of your face with toothy grins. :cmad:

Amusingly enough I am also the product of a very eclectic ethnic background both my grandmothers were very fair skinned. My parents are medium brown with dark eyes and look "black" as for the most part do I, but genetically I'm probably just a scootch under a third African. On average I find ladies of indeterminate or at least questionable ethnicity the most attractive. But I've never ignored a connection because of where someone was from, this is just the first time I have been secure in that "exploration" ;)

Between my mom, aunts, cousins, and a friend, the general consensus is that Whitney Houston no longer has her voice. It's really a shame since she's doing everything in her power to get her name out there. I'm debating if I should even bother tivoing her Oprah interview.

I've always wondered what that was all about, because some of my Puerto Rican co-workers sometimes talk **** about Mexicans.

Don't Puerto Ricans have a little bit of black in them or is that just something that someone made up?

Everyone wants a little black in them.

When white people act like they're better than black people, it's frustrating but not that surprising in a some cases (if I'm going to see racism, I've been raised to look that direction first, and at my own people second). However, I die a little inside when I find out a non-white group discriminates against darker-skinned people, especially if it's their own people. I remember when I started noticing that the actors in Bollywood movies were always very light, but every other Indian I knew in real life was almost as dark as I am. My jaw dropped the day it finally hit me why that happens.

It's the same or similar stupidity many blacks have regarding skin tone. I'm personally glad it's not just us.

The lighter skin is always favorable in most minority cultures. Especially among the chicks, were there are even products created to make the skin lighter for some of them.

it's related to caste perception, the lighter members of a society are considered "better" because lighter skin represents less sun a.k.a. less time spent toiling a.k.a. richer a.k.a. landowner or royalty

Really? Debarge went out of style back in the 80s. LOL

Black girls nowadays want the darker brothas. When it comes to the asian or indian females, the lighter the better. Latin girls, 50/50. :oldrazz:

I've always heard some people say that their parents are okay with them dating someone of another race, as long as they weren't black; which I really don't get.

It's called racism, dude.

Maybe it is, I just never got how dating someone outside their race is okay but when they date someone black it suddenly becomes a no-no? I mean what do they expect from us that they wouldn't expect from the others?

Some people view other races as inferior.

Don't waste your braincells trying to find logic in racist thought patterns.

^ Exactly.

There's a reason why we categorize it in the "ignorance" column. It takes a level of stupidity to subscribe to it.

lol that's so true. I find darker guys more attractive than light guys. :O

I personally have no problem with interracial relationships. But I have a problem when someone who says they won't date one group because all girls/boys of that group are the same. We are not all the same..

I remember one dude I was parterned with for a class project at Purdue, a chinese guy. We were somewhat cool, and he was like, "over the summer, if you want, I can introduce you to some chinese girls. They'll like you because you're one of the light skin black guys." The ****?

Aren't you the one who said you'd never date a black man again in another thread?
