Just saw the Erykah Badu video there's way more to that video than her being nude but that's all people are going to focus on.

She's got a nice body for woman who had 3 kids.

I don't think it has anything to do with her hair...moreso the reports of her having multiple nervous breakdowns.

Ultimately I know it has nothing to do with that but more often than not if a woman has somewhat long hair then cuts it or shaves it off people automatically go "OMG she's gone crazy" or think she's gong through some ordeal. People reacted the same way when India Arie shaved her head.

The thing that pisses me off about this Badu video is that I was not aware of this happening in my town. Y'all would've seen my ass running with her in the video yelling "take it off!"

I don't see what the big deal is about Erykah's video. From what I saw, all of her naughty bits were blurred out, so it's not like it's somehow scarring today's already-jaded audiences.

Blurred on tv, but not on the "set" of the video. I assume those who have a problem with it are upset about the "nudity in front of kids" thing, or the fact that public nudity is illegal (that's what one person on another board I go on was so upset about...how dare she break a law! lol)

That's because there's not an entire federal organization created to prevent nudity in real life or blurred on the internet. The FCC is a Puritan monster that haunts all broadcast TV.

The FCC is a joke. It's funny how people see something they don't like, and instead of changing the channel they want it off the air. Apparently this whole freedom of speech thing people talk about only means freedom to say what they like. A good example of this is the Dixie Chicks. They give an opinion on Bush, and people are like "OMG how dare they talk about the president that way?! Ban them!" Now these same idiots are using their "Constitutional right" to bash Obama at every turn. Such is the glory of partisan politics.

The FCC really does seem kind of unnecessary. Cable TV isn't even subject to FCC rule. Cable networks are entirely self-censored, and it's working just fine for them. You make your daytime programming family friendly, and then you let out the naughty stuff at night. (ever notice that FX's original shows like Always Sunny allow certain words to slide through uncensored?)

FX does push it more than anybody, why there isn't a racy black show to even see the air is beyond me, but Cable T.V. is still pay T.V. so I would think the self imposed restrictions ultimatly fall to whatever any sponser feels it has an audience.

FCC, I would guess, still keeps a lot of over-the-air bigoted speech that would hide behind the 1st amendment from anybody who's weak enough to listen.

You can count the number of Dramas with predominantly black casts on one hand.

Black sitcoms are a dime a dozen though. So much so nearly every well known black actor today has been in more than one sitcom or comedic movie.

I think everybody did, the fact that it exclusively aired on showtime and the fact that it was based on a popular film helped it a great deal. It's actually the longest running drama with a predominantly black cast in the history of American television.

Hmmm... It lasted only 5 seasons.It could of lasted longer imo.They did a reunion recently on the Monique Show.Everyone except Rockmond Dunbar was there.

I was looking at shows like Justified and Sons Of Anarchy and thinking it's time to bring back A Wire like show. Something that focuses on a family (Obviously) some crooked some straight trying to make in today's clime. There are plenty of Families of color with tales as F-ed up as either of those shows...
