So that's the Megazord which is lacking serious paint and barely passes as a robot.
Its is so, so bad...

Lets not forget its a toy and that toys have never been a good representation of what the final product in the film looks like. Obviously it will resemble what we see here but I do expect it to look quite different.

I wonder if each one of those blue pods represents where each Ranger will sit.

That Megazord is actually worse than the one in the first Power Rangers movie.

And is that switchblade looking thing supposed to be the Power Sword? lmao.

Terrible and absolutely questionable design choice. But whatever. Not expecting much from a filmmaker like Dean Israelite.

At the end of the day. This is Power Rangers, and that's still the Megazord. Why would they go for that type of design? I just wish I could've been in the room where the designers came up with this choice and they are like..."No eyes. No face at all. Just a blank face plate." Then Haim Saban and all the other designers are just, "Yup, that's the one."

The second toy, the one that doesn't have to deal with combining an actual physical product, is much, much closer to what we will be seeing in the movie. Now, it doesn't get the fine details, sure. But the hodgepodge look of wearing the zords as armor instead of being a combination of the zords, is the look. We are getting something more along the lines of Evangelion or Ultraman than Power Rangers or Voltron. Hell, the combining toys I think would end up being better than what we seem to be getting.

I am just done with the aesthetics of the movie. I fear at what the putties will look like. More zombie than clay monster is my bet.

If not for the hint of colors from the individual Zords, I wouldn't have guessed this was the Megazord.

Saw the trailer again today in front of Strange. The movie just looks so bad, and this is not helping at all.

Yehp that's pretty much what I think. I'm not actually bothered by the design though as I had been wanting something more along the lines of evangelion . I even posted images Herr a while back that look similar to this design wings like included.

Heck my fan trailer is looking more and more accurate with the details that come out.

This is not built like an Eva from Evangelion. Doesn't have the shoulders, the long arms, or the general animal like nature. This looks like a guy in a motion capture suit put on some bits.

Yes its not an Eva from evangelion but it does resemble it in some ways.

I'm not a big Eva guy. To me, the Evas are along the lines of guy in a leotard.

I just don't understand this. I look at the new Voltron, at how it has a much more sleeker and more agile design, and yet still very much a gestalt. I guess Hollywood can't do gestalts (looks at Devastator).

Saw the trailer in front of Strange and I could hear dozens of people saying "Power Rangers!", "Power Rangers?" People are definitely intrigued.

In what way?

It has more Ultraman qualities, because of the straight up guy in suit quality.

I think its just things like the slim waist and wings are whats doing it for me. You are right thought that it does look more like a man in a suit rather than the Evas.

It looks a lot like the stupid robot thing at the end of Thor but with some extra gear.

Either way I'm going to hold my judgement until I see it on the screen in motion

I definitely get the Evangelion impression just because the Megazord, at least in toy form, gives off the vibe of a guy in a leotard. The design looks more anthropomorphic and like a long tall person rather than an asymmetrical robot.

To me it's just an unimaginative design. It's one thing to make a Megazord look functional, but this one just looks goofy. But more than anything, I hate the head. Again, this is a Power Rangers movie. I'm not saying it has to look exactly like the robot for the original, but it's still supposed to be a giant robot that's formed from five other robots.

Saw this theory on Rangerboard and it makes a lot of sense to me and it makes the Megazord palatable.
What if in movie when Zords finish combining, lighting strikes the megazord in a similar fashion to the show but this time around it causes the final part of the transformation which is the "liquidforming" and the end product is the more Humanoid looking Megazord? Of course in the show the lightning strike was used just to transition a toy to a stuntman in a costume lol.
If my theory is true I think the on screen transformation will be epic!

Plus it explains why there are two toy images out there.

The head piece is my fav bit of the suit actually. Looks neater than the actual PRs helmets IMO.

Also we dont know how the Zords work and form together so it might make sense in this film and considering it seems like 90% of this film as all reimagined I think its pretty obvious the MZ was going to look quite different.

I got no problem with it. Yeah,I know I"m in the minority, but it looks alright to me.

Given the context that we know it's suppose to be a Megazord, It still looks like a combined robot. I can see the T-Rex shoulders, Sabertooth abdomen and Pterodactyl wings. Can't make out the Mastadon or Triceratops but for all we know, they could be what forms the weapons on the arms, they're just unpainted. I will say, I prefer the other, more traditional combiner version that leaked.

No, it's likley the individual zords still become the body, as always.
They just cheat them away morphing them into eachother using CG to smooth out the body of the
final Megazord look.

Which I agree kind of defeats the purpose.
But since it's all meant to be alien-biomechanical/organic morphing, the parts and colors probly morph and chameleon into each other.
Which they can pull off with CG.

Just the toy requires two phases.

The classic combining Zord toy at the top of the page reflects what it looks like before the CG morph together cheat.
The solid action figure version is what it'll likely looks as all pulled together and CG smoothed out and morphed together.

For the record not saying I'm crazy about it just recognizing what it likely is.
Yeah, this makes sense.
