Also, I realized something. We got an AWESOME Alfred in this film. But I read somewhere he's an ex-SWAT. It would be really cool to see him slap the **** out of somebody in Batman solo film. Or, much less likely, JLP1.

They sort of lifted this from Batman: Earth One. He's not ****ing around there. He beats the crap out of Bruce at least once, when Bruce pretends he knows what he's doing when he dresses up like a bat and jumps off rooftops.

Yeah, I read that novel. Interesting. But still it would be cool to see if he leaves the house on some business and some thugs attack him somewhere, or maybe a mugger or whatever, and he's able to defend himself even being this 60+ gentleman.

I mean, if someone deserves ban in moderator's opinion. But no need to close the thread, like it happened last time.

Oh sorry I was just saying whose done something to deserve a ban. Like what's happened?

I think couple of people were going off topic about critics that might be considered problematic for MODS and OutofBoose didn't want to see the thread shutdown because of that.

Haha, yeah. Although now I'm beginning to get over it and feeling inspired by Supes to 'do the right thing' like Superman always does in BVS and thinking about forgiving him. I just want to know why someone would do that and once I understand why he did it, I'll be able to accept what happened and then I think I'll be at peace.

Nah man, just be Injustice Superman :sly:

I really like this current Alfred. It was a good refresher back to the more sarcastic, dry humor, badass Alfred I remember. Was kinda disappointed of the sorta pansy Alfred who left Bruce in TDKR, and the sorta pansy Alfred in the Superheavy arc of the Batman comics.

Ahh well can I just add that I think sometimes threads do go off topic and there are times when I think they should be allowed to. Although it seems that certain topics can get away with it for longer than others and I think that's a double standard.

I think Alfred is one of those roles where they've never done a bad casting decision. Although I must admit I didn't like him much in Rises, I just don't like Alfred doing what he dud in that film (notice how I didn't say that's not Alfred :cwink:).

I'm definitely thinking that the Alfred Jetemy Irons played is my favourite yet (just ahead of Sean Pertwee slightly). I cannot wait to see more of him in the solo Bat film and hopefully Justice League.

It says right there in the thread title that this is NOT a thread for badmouthing those who dislike the film, and that to do so would be grounds for banning. There's "going off topic" and then there's doing what's expressly forbidden at the top of the thread. No one's banning people for getting a little off-topic.

This will be even cooler once we get the bluray (Black zero event spliced together)

Mark Hughes interview with Snyder

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2016/04/01/interview-zack-snyder-discusses-themes-behind-batman-v-superman/

Lot's of good stuff here, I particularly liked this:

It was wonderful not only because of tying in the emotional resonance of saving Martha, but also because I love the connective tissue between Bruce’s dreaming of rising up [with the bats after the funeral] and then that last image of Superman [in the coffin after the funeral] and the rising up happening there.

ZS: And also the thing he [Bruce] says about, “They took me into the light… a beautiful lie,” which is of course the idea that like, “Oh, if I decide or somehow the path takes me toward this road of being a crimefighter, that’s a path toward enlightenment or what is best in men.” And he realizes now, at the twilight of his crimefighting career, that maybe that’s not what happened, you know? “Twenty years in Gotham, how many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?” “Among us [crimefighters]!” you know? “We are not excluded from that!” He says to Alfred, “We’re criminals. We’ve always been criminals.”

Thank you so much for sharing that! Mark Hughes really is an awesome guy and Zack "The Man" Snyder is brilliant as always! That guy is the most underrated and under appreciated director, no wait, auteur of the past century and I hope one day people will unanimously recognize him for his sheer genius.

That article made my day! :D

Omg that was amazing!! Thanks for sharing it! True, I can't wait to see the scene in it's entirety when the entire movie is out on bluray!

You're welcome good sir!

Btw, something for everyone here: I just realised that in MOS Zod looks to Jor-El and says "What have you done?" at the beginning when Jor tells him what he did with the Codex.

Then after their fight, Zod is on his knees and is trying to plead and reason with Lara not to launch Kal's ship to not lose what Jor-El had "taken from him".

In BVS Superman asks the same question to Lex, "What have you done?"

And later he is on his knees but is in anger and wants to hurt Lex for what he has done and who he has taken from him.

Snyder inverted the good and evil but gave us the same scenes.

Oh Snyder you sly and brilliant sumamabeech. :hmr:

Props on the interview I especially loved this bit.
That’s the exact point that I made about the Superman killing moment in Man of Steel. The statement in that movie [Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan] that resonates with me is, “How we deal with death is at least as important as how we deal with life.” So what good are superhero’s rules and codes of ethics if you don’t challenge it? It’s easy to stick to an unchallenged rule. It’s easy to support freedom of speech for popular speech we all agree with.

ZS: One-hundred percent. One-hundred percent.

The so-called no-win scenario is the only way to test a hero’s rules and ethics.

ZS: And it’s the only way to move forward with a hero, because otherwise the hero drowns in the mire of his own morality, in that he never can go forward, he never can evolve. He becomes an allegory, he’s a lesson, like, “This is the way to be, kids,” not a real story. He becomes like one of the Ten Commandments. He’s not like an actual [person].

Like “Just Say No,” like it’s just that easy.

ZS: Yeah, literally. So you give him a real-world scenario, and that’s when we all grow up.

And it's true. If the hero is not challenged with what is important to them, to question their values it can become generic. It doesn't make for fascinating hero melodrama. If there is no conflict, there is no story. Anytime these things have been challenged in film I am always surprised and loving it. Why make it so that you can predict every single choice and action.

Holy **** you're right :wow:

My mate said its amazing in IMAX.

I can confirm that it is. I was in absolute awe of what I was seeing. The IMAX scenes are well worth it.

This is why I can't wait to see this in imax tomorrow. So many things to discover.

I'm also going to see it in IMAX tomorrow but for the second time! :D

Hope you have a great experience! :)

Did you see 3D or 2D?

I've seen it in 2D IMAX and 3D LieMAX and there was no comparison. 2D IMAX remains the best, even if it's not 70mm.
