I already posted this in another thread but the original John Steed would be a good inspiration for an armsdealer known as The Pengiun.
He's English, he's a gentleman and he's carrying an umbrella all the time.
And I really like his suits. This man has style like Oswald Cobblepot should have too.

No Burton-style monster, not small, no uber-long nose. Just an English gentleman with expensive suits and and lots of umbrellas (one with a knife in it, one with he can shoot with, one with a poisoned pike etc.). That would be my favorite version of The Penguin.:yay:

ok! honestly after ledger's performance as the joker (a character that looks, sounds) nothing like what ledger was, anyone (male i mean) can disappear into the role of the penguin or riddler, as long as they have the talent to do so!

oh and i dont care what anyone says: lost is a great tv show in a time of many crappy tv shows!
Heath Kinda looked like the Joker. Sure he wasnt walking around with green hair and a purple suit in real life, but he had the same type of body like the joker and a big smile like the joker.

The Joker looked like Heath with makeup on and scarring..... cause thats what it was... I know what you mean though he really immersed himself in the character but you can't tell me it doesn't look like him... it his him....

its not like he had facial prosthetics on...

I'd love to see The Penguin in one of these movies. He's often very underrated.

He didn't to me. I'd never have recognized him in the role. The only time I saw Heath on screen was when he was the Cop at Loeb's funeral.

I could recognize him during the close ups where he has the knife in Gambol's mouth. Thats about it besides Loeb's funeral.

As I have said elsewhere, the Penguin is probably the only character in Batman mythology that I have absolutely no interest in. I just... don't. I would much rather see someone else in this film.

[FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]David Suchet. Hell yeah. That dude even looks evil.

yeah, he can one be evil bastard when he wants to!

piorot is a legend!
suchet for penguin, i could definitely see it, the guy has tremendous acting chops too!

I see your point, I think Penguin can work as a secondary villain in the same ways Scarecrow did in Begins. I would much rather Riddler be the villain.

I think he'd pretty much have to be a secondary villain if he appeared, because I don't see how they'd ever make him threatening or interesting enough to justify him being the main villain.

Russel Crowe. I saw a manip that was a new take on him. It was pretty cool.

Bob Hoskins all the way. I would like him to be a mysterious villian though, the Penguin can fight Batman but its the last fight before he goes to jail. He sits behind a desk, has an interesting look which fits his nickname as the Penguin, but mostly he is a boss. He plans, he schemes, he works to create a mafia with in the wide open area of Gotham. He has henchmen to do the dirtywork for him. He is the main villian, he has a dumb laugh, a big nose, and he walks wierd, but he caps people in the knees, and orders entire families killed while at dinner.

Mostly I want a leader villian to show of Batman's skills as a detective, and a soldier villian to have someone kick Batman around. Deadshot, or somebody.

I'm sure it won't be one villian but I definately want to see Penguin .

Add me to the list of Bob Hoskins supporters for The Penguin. He'd be perfect for him, IMO.

Didn't he have a piece on his forehead and chin?

My vote goes to Gandolfini. Believable as the gun-runner penguin the most.

I like the Idea - he'd be Okay - but I don't think he'd make a GREAT Penguin.

He could just be the next crimelord of gotham, like Maroni or Falcone were. Like his BTAS counterpart, only without the gadget umbrellas and all that stuff.

"Bob Hoskins as The Penguin" enough said.

Agreed! I have been a Hoskins as Penguin supporter for awhile now. He already has the physical characteristics of Penguin and does not need any over the top prosthetics added on.

Just as long as he is not the main baddie in the next film and more of a supporting baddie like how Scarecrow was in BB, then having the Penguin character would work in the next film. Just have him be a seedy nightclub owner and mob boss who is a British arms dealer as well. Have him keep his cockney Brit accent also.

Also I'm a big fan of the guy and I'm shocked Nolan hasn't used Hoskins in his films.

Yeah, he seems like a Nolan type of actor. The next Bat film would be the perfect time to see him in a Nolan film! :hehe:
