just for snicks, I decided to check out the names of all the inactive competing systems based on the ones Arthur mentioned and the ones shown thru the Machine's POV...

Samaritan
Able Danger
Genoa
Genoa II
Thinthread
Tides
Fairview
Stellar Wind
Future Map
Genesis
and the active decoy systems called Bullrun and Prism...

that's a whole lotta competing systems out there... :wow:

and on a side note, it was pretty cool seeing Saul Rubinek, who plays Artie on Warehouse 13, here on POI as Arthur, an Artie of a different sort...

"I got finesse coming out of my ass."
"It's hammer time!"

I friggin' love Shaw. :hrt:

Those Root/Control scenes.

Also, Samm Levine guest starring next week strikes me as vaguely hilarious.

I love this show. Great episode. Shaw is fantastic!!!

"Mr Reese, I am inordinately happy to see you!"

That was such a great moment too. Great episode.

I knew Nolan Sr. and Decima were just around the corner and would feature again sooner or later.

My reaction after every episode this season so far has been "ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod". This show is phenomenal.

I also think this was the first episode during which I actually, pardon the pun, rooted for Root. She was chillingly awesome in this one.

Bloody hell..... So I'd Reese gone? Also, anyone else get the feeling that Root isn't speaking with Harold's machine?

No, since in that interview linked above,
Jonathan Nolan states that they have a rather convoluted way that the two have been communicating. Not sure if that's referring to the Morse code or something else as well.

Reese isn't going to be gone, like many fans seems to be thinking. Next week's promo showed he'll be a central focus, considering the case take place with him on a plane.

Not seen the promo yet, and am very out of the loop with spoilers, so I was literally going off his final scene in the episode.

No, I definitely think she's speaking to the machine Harold created, but I'm glad this episode did show someone else had built another machine. It's not operating...yet, but it soon will be unless Root is able to stop it from coming online.

Another thing I liked about this episode is how Fusco did all he could really to help John work through his grief. I'm okay with the direction they have Reece taking because Carter's death is a big thing, and I wouldn't like it if everyone moved on like they sometimes do in TV shows.

I basically see John as being in a similar emotional state he was in when he found out his ex-GF had been killed by her new husband. I think it'll take another episode or two before John returns to helping out Finch full-time.

I wouldn't mind him being in a funk for the rest of the season. Harold called John a scalpel, but when he's in this frame of mine he seems more like a sledgehammer. It will be interesting to see how Shaw approaches John's "not giving a ****" mentality. Plus I think it makes sense to have John questioning "the machine" and its priorities. That would work well with what else has been going on this season.

I love how the show it's on the very verge of becoming full sci-fi but it's still has a foot on reality, which makes it all much more interesting.

was just about to post the same comment, the line between sci fi and reality is very thin in this show, its so great.

Also I love the theme score for Vigilance, cannot wait to get the soundtrack for this season.

Ramin Djawadi has done some really quality work for this show. His work on Game of Thrones is stellar too.

Got damn what an episode!!!!

I concur about the music! Vigilance, Decima, Control, Elias, Root, etc. all have amazing themes!

This show. This show.

-When Shaw said, "It's hammer time," I burst out laughing. The humor on this show is so good. :woot:

-While Control was interrogating, I was hearing this high pitched beeping, thinking it was just some random, annoying sound. When Root actually brought up the Machine communicating to her through Morse code, I literally flipped my lid. They actually incorporated the Morse code into the show's audio levels, and I could hear it (did anybody else hear it?). Jonathan Nolan, you magnificent son of a *****.

-When Root turns the tables on Control and all her cronies, and then gives the Machine's message to her. Such a brilliant, yet very creepy, moment. I think my heart was literally racing at that point. :wow:

-Reese's and Fusco's rescue. ("I am inordinately happy to see you." :funny:)

-That moment where the Machine transmits the footage and photos on the screen to Arthur of all the times with his wife and Harold. I admit to tearing up. :csad:

Also, for those of you wanting to know what the Morse code said to Root during her interrogation, I found this Reddit link. Here's what it said:

Control: "You say the machine looks out for you? Then why are you in this cell, why has it let this happen? This friend that you love so much? It's abandoned you.." Machine: SORRY.
<break>
Machine (During dialog):
INCREASED PERSPIRATION. HEART RATE AND BREATHING ELEVATED. INDICATIVE OF FEAR.
Root: "She's been telling me about you... You're scared of me."
2 OCLOCK. 2007 ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT TORN. SURGICAL REPAIR PARTIAL SUCCESS. 2010 PHYSICAL THERAPY DISCONTINUED AGAINST DOCTORS ADVICE.
Root: "All these guards watching... by the way, that one has a bum knee."
And right as she jumps on Control:
8 OCLOCK.
Again, this episode was nothing short of amazing.

Next week looks like it's going to be a doozy.

EDIT: Still rolling my eyes at all the people on the internet complaining about the show's new direction after killing Carter and saying how Person of Interest has become "The Root and Shaw Hour". Sometimes I wish I could reach through my computer screen and punch those people in the faces.

A lot of people on the POI Facebook page really want it to be Number of the Week with no mythology or change. Same on Tumblr, still whining about how the show isn't the same. "Waaahhh I'm quitting! Reese is leaving! Shaw is the devil!" Ugh.

I love how Jonah Nolan tricked CBS (and the whiners) into a sci-fi/action show with a HUGE mythology.

This show has been on another level this season. I love it.
