Are we getting another f***ing break?! :argh:

CBS, I swear, if you were a living breathing person, I would've murdered you already. :o

GREAT episode, though.

Well to be fair, it seems they're giving a lot of shows a week off next week likely so they can get all their shows to have season finales in May in time for sweeps. If they kept going straight through, many would end on the 28th this month and outside the May sweeps period.

Nice emotional episode that was mainly filler but really helped to color in Reese's emotional and personal background.

Pretty sure this was the first time that the flashbacks have been done as flashbacks from the character's POV rather than the Machine. I thought it was kinda neat as a change of pace

This episode reminded me a bit of the old Magnum P.I. episode "Home from Sea" where Magnum is lost at sea the whole time treading water and having flashbacks of his father. His father encourages him to stay alive and survive in the water.

Went up in the ratings, but now the break will take it back down. CBS should have never moved it from Thursdays.

I know. It was a perfect fit for the younger crowd coming off of Big Bang Theory, not the older crowd that is prevalent on Tuesdays coming off NCIS. CBS really wanted to expand their comedy slate on Thursday but it's not been as big of a success with ABC's dramas taking up the night now.

Incredible episode and a great send off for Carter.

Agreed, I thought it was a superbly crafted episode that allowed two quality actors to really add to their characters and get some bittersweet from beyond the grave closure.

Some interesting stuff about the final two episodes in TVLine's May Sweeps preview:

PRE-FINALE: In "Asylum" (airing April 28), Reese and Fusco track POIs Elias and Dominic, Finch and Root chase a new clue to Shaw's whereabouts ("Root has not given up hope," asserts Amy Acker) and Control goes rogue to uncover Samaritan's true agenda. "One of the most interesting aspects of our show," says showrunner Greg Plageman, "is to take someone who appears to be a Big Bad, a total villain, and as they start to understand that something else in play, they come over to another perspective."

SEASON FINALE (MAY 5): "We always aim to outdo ourselves" at season's end, says showrunner Jonah Nolan, and as such the episode "YHWH" is "pretty extraordinary," as Finch and Root endeavor to save The Machine from Samaritan, who has finally located its rival, while Reese gets caught in a showdown between Elias and Dominic. Is now the time for Team Machine, after so many setbacks, to rally? "Yes," says Nolan, "but in the way that you rally as the f—king world explodes into a billion pieces around you, and you cling to the wreckage." Adds cast member Kevin Chapman: "The finale's just remarkable. The audience will be blown away by some of what we're able to pull off!"

Finally caught up with last week's episode. It was a fantastic character piece on Reese and it was great to see Carter back. Probably an unpopular opinion but I always found their kiss at Carter's last episode to be a bit jarring because I never saw them as a romantic couple but I felt that this episode helped a lot in establishing how these two felt about each other.

Apparently the kiss wasn't in the script, it as impromptu from Caviezel.

I thought I was the only one who felt it came out of nowhere. :funny:

Ah, that explains it LOL. It was such a "Wait, what? Ok then...?" moment for me. :funny:

He said it just felt right in the moment, I thought "kissing Taraji on the last chance you'd get to? Yeaahhhhh, I bet it felt right you scallywag!" :funny:

Tru dat. If I had to nit-pick about this season it would be how easily people seem to be getting the drop on John, and how rarely John seems to wear body armour (which was pretty much a given in series 1 and 2).

Otherwise, Taraji and Jim were fantastic. My money's on Fusco being in the car that pulls up at the end.

So how is this season going to end ? I mean, it seems a bit much that they would be able to take down samaritan in a couple of episodes (or even end the gang war for that matter !)

Something I loved about season 3 was how much time and effort went into the "Death of Carter" arc, as in it started with Carter getting partnered with Lasky in episode 1 to the Devil's share and then the aftermath in the 2 episodes about Finch and Claypool and then finally resolved when Reese decides to return in 4C.

It was an arc that was well crafted and took its time (13 episodes if you count them all). Season 4 has felt a lot more disjointed.

Now it's had some amazing episodes (Nautilus, Prophets, Pretenders, the Devil you know and skip) but has otherwise felt a bit all-over-the-place. Just IMO.

I do like that they slowed things down to focus on Reese's character - as I feel like he's been sorely neglected ! But still, the samaritan plot doesn't seem to be progressing much. True, they have got back to their
"number of the week" format but for some reason I felt that season 1 and 3 felt a bit tighter in terms of storylines and character arcs ( which is a real Nolan trait, I mean Inception has incredibly tight character arcs, and that kind of precision really comes up in season 1 and 3).

I wonder if there's been some writing changes (I haven't been watching the credits carefully) what's Johnathan Nolan's level of involvement at the moment ?

Anyway, just my thoughts. Cheers.

I believe they added 3 new writers to the crew this season,There is talks about Nolan leaving the show to focus on his 2 upcoming HBO Shows ( Westworld & The foundation).

part of me would love for Netflix to get a hold of this.

I don't think he's been a credited writer this season. He probably did rewrites, but he's been busy with getting Westworld up and running. He did the pilot while they were making season 4 of POI.

And then there's Sarah Shahi's pregnancy. They probably had to shift stories around and change some things.

So far I think season 3's got the tightest season, however season 4's giving it a run for it's money in terms of amount of great episodes. And season 1 and 2 just don't compare. They're really good but seasons 3 and 4 blow them out of the water.

I can't see CBS letting POI go since they don't exactly have a lot of proven shows in their current lineup, a lot of other shows are on the bubble, and many of their rumored pilots don't sound like they'll be as solid.

For some reason I'm expecting it to be renewed for a 13 episode final season.
