Just got done with the episode where Reese helps the MMA girl. Both the MMA fighters were smoking hot :D .

All the stuff about MMA in New York was unfortunately true. If New York would regulate MMA, it would not be those seedy amateur type fights and there would be actual physicians and doctors on hand at these events.

Amateur MMA technically not illegal, but it's not regulated either.

The Reese and Ronda story was solid and I knew that mini Root was conning Finch, even with the double swerve I still knew she was lying, thankfully Root showed up and saved the day. :D

Stealing from Dominic just isn't best for business.

with Ms. Grove's talk of enlisting for the Team and with Harold swiping Harper's ring with the comment that if she wants it, she knows where he is, will Harper be the next to join Team Machine?... I hope so, I like her... hope she doesn't take up on Dominic's offer to join HIS crew...

and I wonder if Ms. Groves is infiltrating with what might be Team Samaritan....

Yeah, did anyone recognize the guy at the end? They play it as a big reveal but I couldn't place the face for some reason. I'm hoping it's one of the clips the youtube channel uploads later so I can get a better look.

Also, Caleb was supposed to be in this episode, according to the press release?

Finally we got see John and Dom meet face to face with one another, was a great episode and I really enjoyed the callbacks to previous seasons, obviously Root meeting Caleb at the end (who is barely recognizable in a suit) and Finch also mentions Dr Tillman who was the rape victim John and Finch helped in one of the very first episodes, I still remember that episode gave us one of my favorite scenes from this show.

That was him at the end, he is just unrecognizable

...this seems incredibly obvious in retrospect and I'm not sure how the hell I didn't put that together. :funny: He looks like a completely different person. That plus I was expecting him to be part of the Dominic plot and not seemingly the Root B-plot threw me off.

The episode started a bit slow for me but it got better halfway through. The girl is like POI's version of Selina Kyle down to the "Where the fun in that?" line. :D

I feel dumb for asking but who the heck is Caleb? I can't remember him at all. I'm guessing by the cap that he's one of Fincher's students?

Yes, I think so! That was my first thought when she was talking with Finch at the apartment. It seemed like an informal recruitment. I can see her going to Dom's team too as an undercover thing for Team Machine.

He was in season 2, he was a student that Finch was trying to stop from committing suicide, him and Dom were in the same class together.

Considering how unlikely it is The Machine overlooked Caleb and Dominic's connection, I'm curious what exactly it's endgame is considering the two plots seem overlap with Caleb.

OMG that's a looong time ago! :( I never would've made the connection. :wow: I barely even remember the episode. *finds and re-watches it again*

While the case was seemingly just about Harper's connection to Dominic, it was nice they threw in the part where Root is trying to sell her program to a trusted person. Once we didn't see Kleintank/Caleb in any scenes with Dominic, I knew he'd be the successful tech person Root trusted. I get the feeling that the Machine is instructing Root on who to deal with and how to grow the team to fight Samaritan.

Holy crap, I thought that guy looked familiar. I had no idea it was Caleb. Whoa.

I thought it was interesting that we keep comparing this show to the Batman comics and this past episode we get introduced to a street smart tough chick named ''Harper''

The thought did cross my mind. :funny:

The sit down scene between Reece and Dominic was great and I like the idea of recruiting a team, they need to bring Dani back in. Harper was a good character and could be a good addition, plus that girl is real purty! :gngl:

I have to be honest, I don't remember Caleb at all, was he selling weed and got in over his head when his number came up? As I seem to remember that kid being really tech smart.

From the Person of Interest wiki:
[BLACKOUT]One night in 2010, while drunk and waiting for their train at a station the brothers dared each other to cross the tracks. Ryan lost and was hit by a train and killed on the spot. Caleb blamed himself for Ryan's death. He deliberately performed poorly at school to hide the fact that he was a genius.

He begun dealing drugs anonymously to support his mother who had become an alcoholic following Ryan's death. Being a computer genius he also begins writing a compression algorithm named 17-6-21 that would revolutionize the way people stored data on the internet.

Two years later, Caleb approached his computer teacher, Chris Beckner, to help sell the algorithm and set up a trust fund for his mother. Finch who was posing as Caleb's substitute teacher figured out the meaning of the algorithm's name, 17-6-21, and what Caleb was about to do. Caleb had decided to kill himself at the same age as Ryan, 17 years, 6 months, 21 days by jumping in front of train.

Finch finds Caleb at the train station and sits down next to him. Finch tells Caleb how similar they are to each other and that they have both made mistakes. He tells Caleb that one cannot run from their mistakes but learn from it. He makes Caleb understand that the world is better off with them in it and that money would not matter to his mother if Caleb is dead. Caleb finally decides not to kill himself and lets the train pass him by.

The next day Finch meets Caleb at the school. This is a very important moment in the series. Caleb is fumbling with his papers at the front entrance. Finch warns Caleb that he really ought to be more careful with his code. Finch then tells Caleb a story about the early days of the internet, mentioning the hacker who changed everything with a home-made personal computer. "All I'm saying is, it is a new era now and things are about to get really weird--so you should keep your code close to your vest." Finch then gives him a print out of the first 3,000 digits of pi while admonishing him to choose his friends wisely. He tells Caleb that his number is in there somewhere and "you're smart. you'll figure it out." As Finch is about to go, Caleb astutely observes that although he had read all the literature on the subject, he never saw anything about a home made personal computer. Caleb asks Finch just how he knows about that. With a knowing gleam in his eye, Finch suggests that he must have heard it somewhere. He leaves Caleb, then, who can be seen with the gears spinning in his head on the entire subject of Finch.[/BLACKOUT]

I swear the second her name was mentioned I thought I heard "Row" instead of "Rose", haha. But yeah, it's both interesting and funny at the same time. Between POI and Arrow the Bat is always on the mind.

I get the feeling that we're bound to see Grice and Brooks again with how prominently they were featured and given actual characterizations (mainly Grice.) I also think it could only be a matter of time before Control sees the light and turns on Samaritan for good, if she's not killed beforehand by Greer and Samaritan's associates.

Have anyone done a batman character/POI comparison?

Finch-Alfred
Reese-Batman
Fusco-bullock?
Shaw-catwomen
Root-???
Carter-Gordon/ Montoya
Control-Waller

I think she already has, given that she found the fresh paint on the walls at the stock exchange. Just we haven't seen her since that episode.
